2024.11.29 01:40 InvestigatorWarm4366 Red Cat's quasi monopoly of the sUAS DoD market
The recent Red Cat win with the Army Short Range Reconnaissance Tranche 2 (SRR T2) will not raise all drone boats (and stocks). To the contrary, it will most likely sink them.
But if you don't believe me, then just read the following post from Colonel Michael Brabner of the US Army.

He makes the important point that if you're not a Program of Record (POR), then piss off. The Army is not going to buy your drone because DoD policy won't allow it under current law.
Keep in mind that Red Cat has the ONLY program of record for the sUAS category, so they essentially have a five year monopoly of the Army, and ostensibly the entire DoD market. Furthermore, if it is the drone of choice for the DoD, then why not the Dept. of Homeland Security and every other USG/state entity?
The market has yet to absorb the significance of this monopoly, but when it does, well, see you on the moon.

I’m not sure if anyone else has experienced this with trying homemade and brand versions of the dessert but there is a distinct flavor profile in the store bought rice Krispy treats that is extremely hard to recreate at home, though to be fair, I haven’t tried that hard to nail the flavor. I was wondering if anyone has any tricks to keep the flavor similar as I much prefer the brand version and it’s nostalgia to the buttery homemade one.

I was going a story about disability pride parade, but if I do everyone will misinterpret what I am actually talking about. Furthermore, one of the characters is holding a rainbow infinity flag. Now if I have rainbow anything juxtaposed with the word pride, most people will assume I mean big P pride, because apparently a word that rmeans to being proud of something exclusively refers to big P pride because its not like small p pride is a thing. I actually put a lot of thought into how this prosesion would play out, and even bagan to write some of it. Now I have to throw out this idea completely because people are stupid. What do you want me to do, use the clunky disabled and pride parade, or replace the rainbow infinity with that degrading puzzle piece? So fucking frustrating.

I work in the security industry. A little over a year ago I was working at a sight with some toxic people. I needed to leave because I couldn't take it anymore but the site was already short staffed and the manager said I have to stay until they find a replacement which was estimated to take months. I didn't want to quit the company over this but just be moved to a different site or just be a spare, so I ended up getting a doctors note to excuse me from my duties at that site. When I gave them my doctors note my supervisor said the manager had to approve my transfer but was very upset with me (I guess for saving my mental health and not waiting months for a replacement). Fast forward to today (over a year), I'm still as spare, can't find another full-time position within the company, and can't even get shifts as a spare (something I've never had a problem with in the past. To make things worse, I can't even find a job at other security companies even though I have all required certifications and almost 10 years of experience. Is it possible that this manager (who is pretty high up) got me blackballed not only within the company, but the whole industry? Can he really be that petty? Is there some kind of naughty list all these companies have access to and don't hire from? I have no proof but the longer this goes on, the more sure of it I become. Also the company still has ongoing hiring campaigns so they are clearly not at a surplus of guards. Is it time to just change careers?
