I suffer from a chronically blank mind. I’m not sure if it’s autism or depersonalization, although I am BP1. I form almost no deep thoughts other than reflecting on what’s happened to me throughout the day. I have a few friends but I’m 21 and live with my younger brother and mostly count on him being there to keep the conversation alive. I have a sort of date slash hike set up with a girl I met in the hospital last year in a couple days. I’m okay over text but im just worried she’s gonna see how truly blank I am and lose interest. Like maintaining convo is seriously tough for me and im not sure how im going to live a meaningful life or hold down an occupation when my mental process is nulled. I’ve been crushing on her for a while too so the inevitable letdown is gonna hurt that much more.

I want to start by asking that this remains a discussion, and doesn’t devolve into a hostile debate (I know that’s a lot to ask from Reddit, but I’m hopeful.)
So I know he’s been debated into the ground, I know the general consensus is that he’s a fraud and lacks weighted credibility, but the hopeful side of me, wants to believe.
His ideas are fantastical, to say the least, intriguing regardless of whether they’re true or not..
However, what are your thoughts? His interviews have remained the same for 30+ years. Just when I see an interview on Joe Rogan or whatever podcast you choose, that I want to believe, I think, I’ve heard this story..not just the story, the delivery, the words, the organization..Hell the pauses and sighs and expressions he uses are, in a lot of instances identical down to the timing, tone, and even his expressions.
On the other hand, some of the things he’s said as far back as 1989, are recently coming to light. It’s worth questioning “What did he know” when a 35 year old statement was ignored, and all of a sudden, it’s suddenly “leaked” in speculation or claim, by other ex-government employees.
I’m new to researching UFO’s, UAP’s, Extraterrestrial / higher intelligence. I’ve always been hopeful, and fascinated by the idea, but I’ve also been rather blind, without evidence.
The first time someone claimed to be a government employee leaking secrets, I thought, “Yeah right” then it happened again, and I thought “Well maybe, but probably not.” Now it’s happening again, and the claims are adding up to some degree, and I feel like doubting it is not only foolish, but impeding to progression and growth of the human race.
Has anyone taken a look back at his claims, and compared them to recent claims? We have literally 0 proof of anything..we can’t prove there has been any truthful leaks/claims, we can’t prove the existence of UAP photos, we can’t prove without a doubt, the existence of higher intelligence/extraterrestrial (or sub-nautical) life, with what we have..and I feel it’s getting more and more difficult to vet fact from fiction, as technology and AI advances, creating “real” photos/videos, is easier and easier each day.
Recently I saw the orb on the tarmac, with all sorts of claims, leading me to believe it’s another doctored image/gif, that’s going to grow wildly beyond its initial claim..and interestingly enough, there isn’t a word, or statement, or claim, from those that witnessed it..
Maybe we should start believing these “frauds” when their stories add up…or maybe we should start discrediting the new frauds when they try to mimic disproven fraudulent stories from the past..

I (31 F) hosted thanksgiving this year and my sister (24 F) was over at the house for it. Things were going really well and off to a nice start. Drinks were flowing, my husband and I were in the kitchen cooking, and my sister was in the living room with my mom and my grandparents (in-laws, but I consider them my own) talking. My husband and I weren’t really in the conversation, but I could overhear her trying to convince my grandparents that they were not checking the validity of the sources from which they were getting their information. My sister and I are very close, but she does sometimes have a tendency to try and convince people to see things her way and I was getting uncomfortable because I didn’t think that anybody was really in the mood for talking about the politics she was getting into.
She left the group and came into the kitchen to chat with me. We were smiling and giggling, and I should’ve realized she was slightly buzzed. I was probably a bit buzzed myself at this point. She asked me if she was being too much, to which I replied ‘honestly a little bit. I don’t really think anyone came here tonight with the expectation of trying to have their minds changed.’ She responded by saying that she likes to plant seeds for people so that maybe they reconsider the way they think and that people need to stay open minded. This is where I think I might be the AH, because I said ‘on the topic of being open minded, I wanted to pitch something to you. You are always telling me to quit vaping and you have explained why it’s bad for my health. I think I would be willing to try quitting if you would be willing to try therapy. I think it could benefit you. You have been mentioning a lot lately that you feel unlovable. I went to therapy for feeling in adequate and it helped me a lot. Therapy can really help people who feel Unlovable, so it might be really good for you.’ For context, my sister has made multiple TikTok’s viewable to anybody about her struggles with being alone. She made one this last week that very specifically and explicitly said she feels unlovable and wonders if anyone would really love her outside of her accomplishments and what she looks like with her makeup on. The night she made that TikTok, I texted her that I loved her and that she was lovable. The night I saw that TikTok was the night that I really considered bringing up therapy to her. For context, my sister and I are what I would consider very close. I used to live two doors down from her and we would spend every other night together. We talk on the phone regularly, and every time I see her it’s a good time.
Tonight was not a good time. Immediately, after Ifinished speaking, she went silent and left the room. When I had a moment free, I walked back to where she was in the bathroom and knocked on the door and asked if I could come in. I could hear my mom in the bathroom with her and my sister yelled no at me. After my mom left the bathroom, she (my mom) did not even want to speak with me. I tried to go talk to her a second time when it was just her and she still said no. She came out of the bathroom and I could tell that she had been crying. She immediately left and my mother informed me that she was not coming back. I asked my mom why she was so upset and she told me that my sister had told her that I just said she needed to go to therapy with no context. I explained the full context, and she said that I still messed up because I attacked her. My sister also sent me a very long drawn out text after she left that said I was jealous and I had no right to tell her that she needed therapy or what to do with her life. I wasn’t trying to make her think that I said she needed to do it. It was genuinely just a suggestion.
I wasn’t trying to attack anyone, and I am aware that my timing was totally off. AITAH?
