Nah I'm not. I'm actually here to say isn't it sad when people say they're giving away free items but only if you have a gifting tree. Like :') not to be greedy or anything but having immense FOMO and somebody is giving out really good free items like 😭😭
Of course for the people who give out free stuff, it's so much easier for them. And they're very generous to do so :) I'm just saying this because that's half the posts I see xD

2024.11.30 02:39 ausernamebutgood My best friend (M28) proposed to a girl (F31) who’s going to ruin his life - should I say something or let him do it?
tl;dr my best buddy is marrying a girl who takes advantage of him financially and is one of the leading sources of stress in his life. he just proposed to her. i don’t wanna see my buddy ruin his life because “it’s just the thing you do at this age”. what should i do?
ok here’s the full story
my buddy, we’ll call him Syd, has historically not had the best run with girls. he’s extremely intelligent, to a fault, but a little uptight. kinda fell into the “ugh girls don’t go for nice guys” mentality in high school, but changed that very quickly after graduating. always struggled to communicate with girls beyond friendly pleasantries, or he’d “end up friend zoned” (again, as he’s matured he’s dropped this kind of mentality).
had his first situationship, sexual encounter, and as far as i’m concerned, his first kiss at 23/24ish, in the summer of ‘19, which only lasted a month but honestly seemed to open his eyes to a whole new world, and for the first time since i’d met him when we were 12, he seemed to really find a defined personality that he was loving in himself. things ending with this girl broke his heart a little, but these things are almost a right of passage, and none of it diminished the new Syd that was flourishing; this loose, relaxed, fun loving smiley guy; and we were all ecstatic for him.
he had one gf/situationship between then and now, she kinda fucked him around, cheated and tried to gaslight that they were only friends after everything. won’t go into too much detail, but it hurt him for sure. around this time he starts a new job, which is great for him for about 9 months, then has slowly crushed part of his spirit over 3 years.
around the time of this new job, he met the woman in question here - let’s call her Viv. we (friend group) met Viv briefly once or twice at large social events. she seemed quiet and kinda weird but nothing that was waving obvious red flags (i’m quite extroverted at times, so i’m not gonna judge someone for being shy and quirky).
as she began coming to more and more social gatherings, we realised that very often, it’s not just that she’s quiet, but seemingly actively unhappy to be there. this includes times where my buddy, who is a musician, was playing gigs - she just really seemed like being there was a drag for her, to the point where she’s sulking in a corner, and my buddy is coddling her, until he performs and they leave asap.
around this time, we began noticing just how highly strung he’d become - even more so than before what we’ll call his “personal transformation” thru the summer of ‘19. he was really quick to stress, and showing up to functions/band prac and sitting the whole time in silent stress and rage. at first, we attributed it solely to his job. but it started to click that even outside of this job, his responsibility was becoming parenting his gf full time.
fast forward to last yearish - Syd bought a townhouse in the area we grew up in, taking out a home loan (obvs). Viv moved in immediately. we’d had a brief conversation before, when he first moved in, and i said to make sure he wasn’t getting taken advantage of, and he assured me there was some sort of agreement there. he’s still at this job he hates, and for a year a lot of us had told him to leave as it’s not worth the misery.
fast forward to a few months ago - a mutual friend tells me that, on a night of drinking with Syd and others but not Viv, he’s opened up and admitted that she pays no rent, she sometimes pays for half of the groceries (i remind you that she’s there full time), and she’s been pressuring him to pop the question so they can get started on a family. he says that it’s “just the thing to do at this time in your life”.
he also repeatedly says “i know Viv isn’t a hard 10 or anything” - i won’t speak on her appearance, but i will say that a lot of us think he’s settling. my buddy is pretty handsome but also the kind of guy that is aging really well, never parties super hard, stable job and mindset, home, extreme intelligence - dude is basically bound for success and if he waits it out 5 or 10 years, he probably could date a supermodel. i’d debated saying anything to him but figured unless he brings it to me, it’s not my place.
fast forward to today - he’s proposed and she’s said yes. the announcement came in the form of a picture of the ring being the 7th picture in an insta carousel, with the caption “Seoul💕” (they are overseas rn). i mean, there was no announcement at all, it felt like it was just another expected part of her trip, like seeing seoul tower or the war memorial.
obviously it’s his life, but a lot of us are really concerned about him. tbh my father marrying my mother was the wrong move for him, and it really derailed his life for a few decades. at age 55 or something he married my stepmother, who is the love of his life and the mother id wished id had growing up.
i don’t wanna see my buddy ruin his life because “it’s just the thing you do at this age”. what should i do?

I'm not sure this is the right sub but here's my question.
I'm making a slide for my kids to use this winter and I'm having trouble drawing the stringers S shape correctly.
The slide will be 2 big S shaped plywood stringers connected by 2x4 that'll support a slipery a plastic sheet. I uploaded a couple picture of my project so it'll be easier to understand : https://imgur.com/a/mPBSWP0
I know a few ways to draw full size curves. You can draw a circle by attaching a pencil to a fixed point like a nail. You can also draw ellipses with 2 nails in the focal points and piece of string.
I used another method, I drew the S shape on graph paper by bending a plastic ruler and tracing it until I was satisfied by the look of it.
I then noted the coordinates of 5 points on the curve and marked them, to scale, on a thin sheet of plywood. I bent the 4'x8' pastic sheet and traced it on the plywood like I did with my ruler on the paper. I then cut that line and used it as my template.
I traced the curve with my template on my thick plywood that will be my stringer. That first curve would be the bottom of my stringer. The problem arose when wanted to draw the top of the stringer with the same template.
I figured I wanted the stringer thickness to be equal along all of it's length so I marked a couple point at an equal distance of the bottom curve measured perpendicular to it at that point. I then tried to position my template so it would match all the points I drew but couldn't so I drew it where it was closest to most of them.
I ended up with a stringer slimer at the center and larger at the ends. I think using the same curve on the top and bottom I'll always have some kind of distortion. Am I wrong?
Do you have a suggestion on how I could correct it so it doesn't look funny.

I am still getting used to using my AirPods and what settings I prefer. It seems to move between modes a lot. Also, what is the difference between Adaptive and Transparent? And Adaptive and ANC?
