It’s more of a personal reason than anything medical or aesthetic. I tend to dress very fashionable and the patch will just add to it, it’ll look natural. Idk why I’m talking about it but I just need to get it out. Idk I need something to give me that push, i’m currently saving for a patch so once the time is right I’ll buy it. I’ve already been shopping and putting some patches in my cart so I’m pretty set on this. I’ve been suffering with social anxiety since I was 7 because of the misalignment of my eyes, it makes social interactions with the public incredibly difficult and uncomfortable. I’ve avoided social interaction all my life, my entire life ive shyed away from every single social aspect that I could get myself out of unless it was something like medical appointments, school, work, shopping at the store, etc. But anything else like working out outside or walking the dog-I just won’t do it. It’s embarrassing and shameful. Everything about me is socially acceptable except for my stupid piece of shit eyes. There’s nothing wrong with my eyesight-there’s nothing absolutely wrong with it. I can see just fine but it’s cosmetic and that’s what truly drives me mad. Like seriously. It drives me up the damn wall. I hate them (my eyes) and I truly have a resentment towards them, it disgusts me that I was born with this and my family did nothing to fix it when they had every opportunity so now I have to endure the consequences. I considered surgery but I don’t have the money, insurance nor am I in the best position in life for that to happen. I also see it as a high risk thing because so many things can go wrong, I might get botched, my eyes might not even align or they might re-misalign and I’ll have to schedule another surgery after another. I’ve heard patients had to get two or more surgeries after the first procedure and I don’t want to live a life doing that.
The main issue is money, that shit makes me so angry so I won’t talk about that anymore. But yeah, I’ve had misaligned eyes since I was basically out the womb and it has caused a huge dip in my confidence, i am never able to be myself. Some might argue it’s a mental thing, and sure maybe but it’s literally affected me from feeling like myself. I’ve never gotten to be myself in public. It’s so hard to explain, I can never bear to look ahead when walking, look up with my head held high and look people in the eye. I’ve been wearing sunglasses indoors for years because of my eyes. It doesn’t help the fact when I realize how often I get stared at without them, putting those glasses on creates a barrier between the world and I. It’ll be best if no one can see my shitty pathetic eye. It’s done nothing but look fucking stupid. I hate it. Even if I took therapy into accepting it it will never help. It’s such a weird thing to experience. Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone else experience severe social anxiety because of their disability/aliment/medical condition? Or is it just me? I know there’s things we can or can’t control, I can’t control whether my eyes look straight or not. That’s not a skill I’ve been able to master and I don’t want to because I know it’ll give me a headache. So why not cover it yk?
