No like seriously, why parents don't parent anymore like they used to? Imagine giving a kid phone at 5 yo without any parental control but instead with access to all social media, all adult content and other fucked up shit that kid can find in few clicks.
It's scary for me how everything changed within few years, how the age of worrying about apperance, makeup etc at girls has lowered to like 10. I have 10 year old sister and why all of her 10-12 yo friends are already into makeup, skincare and dressing like teens? My lil sister feels so much pressure because shes the only one in her class to still like pink and colorful stuff. I feel so bad for her, when I was her age most of girls used to dress yk just like kids, I remember I was wearing clothes with cats and unicorns at her age and no one gave a fuck.
And I wanna bring there also social media and adult content, more and more kids starts dating and getting into sexual stuff around 14. I see all the time some 14 yo or something to ask about relationship or sexual advice here, its sad for me to see. I mean okay everyone do everything in the time they think its alright for them, but I feel like now social media and appearing adult content everywhere made it even worse than it was, kids see adult content for example on tik tok and think theyre ready for such stuff (also probably seeing other people their age being in relationships makes them feel even more pressure).
I feel like social media made disappearing the borders beetwen childchood, young teens and older teens-adults. I am only 17, but I feel like way too much changed within few years, for example I remember that it was common to experiment w apperance when u entered teen hood or skincare and heavier makeup for people in my birth year was common to start doing at 16 but now u see 13-14 polished in full makeup 🤷🏼♀️
Our generation also somehow grew up on internet, had brain rot and stupid trends, but not on such lvl like them ig. I wouldnt give a fuck what is happenning rn w kids if I didnt had younger sister tbh, I think about all of these stuff very often worrying about her, she tells me stories from school so I know how it looks like to be kid nowadays and also I have some view on it by myself.
I really hope that not only Australia but also other countries will ban social media under 16 yo or that parents will start parenting like they should. Social media has a lot pluses and minuses and our generation, and gen alpha are guinea pigs when it comes to it but theres a difference that our generation remembers at least a little bit of world when everything wasnt all about smartphones and social media, while they don't.
