Throwaway for obv reasons! I’ve always wanted to do an AMA, and I realized this might be something people find interesting. My father grew up poor but has made millions as a lawyer. My mother grew up middle class and has been a SAHM since my brother was born (1999). I’ve never known how much money they have in the bank, but over time I realized that we were extremely well off financially compared to the vast majority of people, like at least the top 1%. This past year, I saw their taxable income for the first time and realized that my dad has been making way more than I assumed, like multiple millions a year. AMA!

2024.11.30 03:50 Mediocre-Amphibian-7 Snakes shouldn’t be kept as pets and it’s weird if you do.

Why would you ever want a snake as pet they literally can’t form bonds with their owner outside of like maybe 1 or 2 breeds and even then it’s debated.
It’s just keeping a wild animal in unnecessary captivity and it makes no sense to just keep a snake over a dog or cat that you could actually bond with.
What’s the joy of having a snake you literally only feed and occasionally handle and other then that it just sits in a tank all day.b

i have a couple positions open and used 2:1 leverage, what would you recommend for me as im looking to hold long term (5-10 years) but see that im paying overnight fees am i better off holding the positions or will i pay to much back in overnight fees over the time? or should i close my positions take my profit and just open new ones at 1:1 at $1.80

• ⁠Country: Canada
• ⁠Condition: New? Okay with used, but would like more recent tech specs
• ⁠Type of Camera: compact, or smallish mirrorless
• ⁠Intended use: combination of both photography and videography.
• ⁠If photography; what style: Nature photography, astrophotography/ nightlife, concerts, etc
• ⁠If video what style: same as above
• ⁠What features do you absolutely need: good macro, great zoom, good for novice users, or intermediate photographers
• ⁠Portability: not necessarily pocket sized, but not “professional camera sized” - given that I just went to a concert that restricted large cameras and ones with removable lenses, as well as any that zoomed out more than 3inches, i would like something allowed, but with close to professional quality.
• ⁠Cameras you're considering: I’m not really knowledgeable enough to say what I’m considering, but I have definitely been looking more at mirrorless cameras, or amazing “point and shoot” cameras. Really depends on how close to the object I can get with the zoom.
• ⁠Cameras you already have: I have a fujifilm finepix s1500, it’s pretty old, and I’m not sure if it still works, I like the size, but I haven’t used it in quite a while so I’m not sure how the properties actually work
