2024.11.30 04:40 JohnnyDD_Rockets Windows 11: Cannot Log In. Need Help with factory reset
First Windows 11 computer and I f'd it up royally. I didn't realize Microsoft would insert itself in my security.
ComputeOS: HP Pavilion eg1053cl, Windows 11 64 bit, i5-1155G7 @2.5 GHz, 12 GB RAM
TL/DR: * I gave Microsoft fake info (I don't remember) about the account and I never set up a "pin"
- One day Windows decided that I could no longer use my password (which I still know) and will ONLY allow me to log in using my pin and won't let me log on any other way
- Now it won't let me do a factory reset
- From startup menu:
- Troubleshoot > Reset this PC > Keep my files --> (asks for bitlocker key which I don't have)
- Troubleshoot > Reset this PC > Remove everything --> "There was a problem resetting your PC"
- Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair, Startup Settings, Command Prompt (various unsuccessful forays), System Restore (none available), UEFI Firmware Settings
- BIOS:
- Admin Pwd and Power-On Pwd: both Clear,
- I didn't "Restore Security settings to Factory Defaults" but can if that might help.
- Made a boot-able USB drive. Boot from it, get to the last step and it says,
- Windows 11 can't be installed on disk 0 partition 1. (the only one that is available)
- When I click on "Show Details" I get: "The selected disk has an MBR partition table. on EFI systems, the operating system can only be installed to GPT disks."
- First, if anyone knows how to force Windows to use my (admin) password, I still know that so it would solve all my problems
- If not, what can I do to factory reset this? I don't have any of the original documentation so I'm hoping a factory reset will just allow me to start from scratch

A friend and I have been looking into going to the Yasuni National Park and found this company, Huaorani Expeditions. The company doesn't have any reviews online however there is this Facebook page. Also after reaching out to the owner, Numa Sanmiguel, he referred us to two previous travelers who used his company. We found their Instagrams (and they are quite popular American photographers actually), reached out to them, and they said they had a great experience on the trip.
Also the owner sent the below accreditation from Ecuador's tourism agency.
Also with regards to booking, we were sent a WeTravel link where we will put down the deposit, which is 20% of the $2000 total for a 6 day trip, and then bring the rest in cash when meeting the tour guide. We will meet the tour guide in the city of Coca, Ecuador, and then will be brought to the Yasuni National forest.
My main concerns with this is that the tour guide does not have many reviews online, so I am worried that either we are getting scammed out of the deposit or the experience will not be great. My friend is interested in this tour specifically because it seems more immersive than the more popular EcoLodges/tours in the Yasuni National Forest. Does this seem like a good and safe option to have an authentic experience in the Amazon?

So I’m not good with titles. Or venting to ‘my people’ because I feel like someone always has it worse. Or they just have their own stuff going on.
But between the holidays, the weather, the new-ish relationship I’m in (that’s so complicated that it’s not complicated but it is) I know it’s so confusing. I’m just so overwhelmed and my chest gets so heavy with all my emotions I feel like I can’t get out without lashing out because I feel like I’m not understood or heard.
I don’t know, I just want someone go understand and be on the same page we can swap the anxiety of life even if just briefly.
