2024.11.30 05:31 Yeehaw_Yeehaw19 Show no longer grounded in reality/ poor writing?
Anyone else feel like the show is just not grounded in reality anymore and it's making it hard to watch? One of the things that made the show work so well was that it was taking realistic things that happen in college and then elevating them for humor. Like stories were over the top, but it also felt like, yeah something like that happened to me in college as well.
Now it just seems like there are all these inconsistencies that make the situation unrealistic and it's pulling me out of the show and making the humor feel cheap. Like the Alicia moving to Boston thing. No one is dropping out of college to work for the mayor of Boston (idk if that's the actual job but you know what I mean). It just makes no sense. Why couldn't it just be an internship and she was gonna get credit remotely? I thought that Bela becoming a FAF was a great plot line, but now I am very confused what a FAF even is. In season 1 and 2 it seemed like a Resident Director position (a graduated adult) but now it seems like an RA (student). I know this isn't a big deal but it is just confusing? Worst of all was the way Kappa was represented this season. The show has always played on stereotypes and tropes, but usually in an interesting way. This just felt totally cheap. The girls all move as a group and have no personality. Totally different from the way they are represented in the first two seasons. Sure they were almost all blonde and named Ashley, but they also showed some character depth too. Now their lines aren't even remotely realistic. Like the writing just feels lazy and under developed.
IDK I want to be excited about this season, but I really have noticed a decline in the writing quality. I'm hoping it will improve in the episodes without Leighton (I know, sorry) because it will be more focused. Has any one else noticed this?
