2024.12.01 00:53 MediumOk1717 After hospital recovery
Hello. Been in a flare since August. GI put me on prednisone tapers with no luck. Had CMV and antivirals seemed to help everything except the blood. Started biologics (Amjevita), no signs of improvement but I was only on it for three weeks. Two weeks ago I woke up really sick. Couldn’t hold down water or food, 40+ bloody stools a day. It was hell and finally went to the ER. They said my labs did not look good, scan showed 2/3 of my colon was severely inflamed, and I had a bacterial infection and CMV again. I stayed in the hospital for a week- I got IV steroids, IV antivirals, antibiotics, fluids. They also started me on a stronger biologic, inflectra. They moved me onto oral medicines before discharging me. I was still having chills/fevers and body aches. I also got these crazy bruises on my legs which they called erythema nodosum- it is so painful and I can barely walk. I’ve been home for a few days. I’m still waking up with chills/sweats. Takes me hours to get out of bed because I’m in so much pain. I can barely walk. I am so fatigued and just so sore. Im still taking prednisone, antivirals, and antibiotics. The good news is there is NO blood in my stool and only going 2/3 times a day (that hasn’t happened in months!) I guess I just expected to feel better. I’m not sure if my body is still fighting the infections….or my body is still just recovering, or if I’m having bad reactions to all these medications. Any have a similar experience to help ease my mind? Or any advice? I did message my GI about my symptoms. I have an appointment with my GP on Wednesday. The infectious disease doc should be reaching out soon about the CMV. Maybe I just need to be patient and let my body rest. I’m also just scared. This whole thing has been eye opening and terrifying. Wanted to share some photos and first impression thoughts about the bags and material.
M23 21L: great bag, favorite of the M series by specs. Wish it had a QAP for the top brain pocket. About the same size as a GR1 and more pockets.
Kit bag 32L: nice dump bag, wide openings compared to some duffle and smaller than I thought but still a good size. Fits 2 10L full size goruck packing cube nicely with room for shoes on top or what ever.
Dyneema: I'm comparing it to my Hyperlite mountain gear (HMG) dyneema bag mostly. Had it for years and put 100s of miles on it. Didn't baby it at all. Mud, snow, rain, rocks...etc holds up well in all conditions as long as the seams are good. Worn a bit at the bottom but no hole yet. The goruck seems a bit shinier and smoother. HMG feels a bit thicker but not by much or maybe it's just me. HMG is a bit louder maybe, both are noticeable. Goruck has a line image or hologram look in the light, HMG has more wrinkles ( due to years of use) but if I remember, it had more when I got it. The goruck feels really lite compared to the gr1 21L heritage. Reason I got the dyneema is it was on sale and going to use it as a gym, outdoors bag. Going to a beater. Probably not for EDC or flights due to sound and looks. To me, with the black and shiny, kind of looks like a quality heavy duty black trash bag. If the olive waxed canvas was in this set, I would have chosen that instead for a all rounder. It's very capable but the sound and looks is not for my edc. I hiked miles with the bag and i can hear the swish/crinkle while i tried to enjoy the nature sounds hiking. Blured it out and it wasnt a big deal, just noticeable. My last dyneema bag unless it's for long distance hiking and weight.
