Hey everyone, I wanted to share my story and get some perspective. I’d describe myself as “gay lite”—basically, I don’t really enjoy going to gay events or celebrating Pride Month. My vibe is more blues and greys than pink, and I have zero knowledge about makeup or anything like that. I don’t have girl besties, and honestly, I couldn’t tell you who is gay or not—it’s just not on my radar.
When it comes to attraction, I’m mostly into white guys. Before anyone jumps on me, hear me out: I grew up in a tiny town with only three Black people—one of whom was a relative. Fast forward to now, I’m 6’3", in shape, successful, smart, and doing well in my field. But for the life of me, I can’t seem to make a meaningful connection.
The only guys who seem to show interest in me are straight men, and oddly enough, their girlfriends or wives seem okay with it “if something happens.” That’s not my thing, though—I have morals, and I’m not about to get involved with someone who’s already taken.
I’ve never had a relationship, and now that I’m in my mid-30s, I feel stuck. I’m either “too Black” or “not Black enough,” whatever that even means. On top of that, my personal values—no drinking, no drugs, no one-night stands, and religion is important—seem to make me an outsider in the gay dating world.
Lately, I’ve been wondering if this whole “gay thing” just isn’t for me. Has anyone ever seriously thought about choosing to live a straight life instead? I’ve also been thinking a lot about wanting a child and what that might look like for me.
What do you think? Am I overthinking all of this? Has anyone been in a similar situation? Would love to hear your thoughts or advice. Also, if you have a female friend who wants to have a child let me know.

Our house was built In 1912 and alot if the house is original. We're looking for someone or a company that can do repairs. As well as some electrical work and maintenance.
For example our house has tongue and groove walls and we had a plumber cut a hole in one and we need that hole patched but if it's patched with drywall it will stick out like a sore thumb. It needs to be repaired correctly.
So we're looking for a contractor or company that's familiar with these 100+ year old houses and how to work on and maintain them.

My husband and I stopped trying to conceive a few years ago after he was finally tested and we learned that he has zero sperm. After a lot of conversation, we decided we couldn't deal with the ongoing heartache of adoption or IVF with a sperm donor. Overall, things had been okay until recently.
We went to Thanksgiving at his coworker's, where I got to play with their 8-month-old baby all night. It was lovely. Adorable, sweet, vibrant kid. And then we got home, and I had a complete meltdown when I realized that my husband had absolutely zero interest in children. This is something that I'd guessed at over the years, but we never actually had a candid conversation about. Well, we finally did.
Turns out, my husband never really truly wanted to be a father. He wanted a legacy, not to be a parent. He only realized this recently. I don't blame him for going along with what people are "supposed" to do, but I feel so much devastation right now. I'd been ambivalent toward having children until we met and he really wanted them. Now the tables have turned, I'm coming to terms with approaching the age where having children will become more difficult (yesterday was my birthday), and my husband doesn't even want kids.
I can't even decide for myself how much I actually want this! It's so stupid to be so upset about it. But I just want the fucking choice. I feel strung along. I feel like my husband's opinions are the only ones that matter. He's the one dealing with infertility, I should be the one supporting him. I can't admit to anyone, not him, not friends, not family, that I feel like I've been a "yes woman" my entire marriage and I just want him to choose to be the "yes men" for me. Because it was his fucking desire to have children in the first place.
I'm sorry for my rant. I don't have anyone I can talk to about this. I feel like I'm spiraling.

I'm not sure how to exactly describe what I mean, two books I've read recently that felt like this were East of Eden and Demon Copperhead. Stories with a kind of weight to them, stories about things that really matter if that makes sense. I tried reading Slaughter House Five and The Old Man and the Sea this year as well but couldn't get into either of them. I already plan to read all the Steinbeck I haven't already, I think he's my favourite author. Thinking about Lonesome Dove but I feel intimidated..
