You always think you have more time, until you don’t. My mother was elderly but in my mind she never got old. She never stopped worrying about me even now when I’m in my 50’s. She’d always tell me to get a good rest and sleep and not overwork myself. She always got excited when I called even when I would lapse for weeks or months.
My mom was fairly stoic. 13 years ago she had to call me and tell me my only sibling died of cancer that day. I started sobbing but she carried right on. At that point it was just her and I left in my immediate family because my father had died three years before from medical issues caused by alcoholism. Because of my father’s alcoholism, I never told my mother how much more I had been drinking. I did tell her when I stopped drinking for 90 days and she asked me why. I told her I didn’t want to end up like dad when he died at only 66, in lots of pain and not in control of his life.
So now I’m all that’s left from my original family of 4. I feel alone even though I have a loving supportive wife and fantastic step daughter. I know these feelings will pass, a new normal will come and I will emerge a better man because I went through today and the last 911 days without alcohol.

So how did it work to the benefit of the family giving up a son.

I want to get my residential contractor license, however, I see it may require 2 years of documented experience.
I have experience but no proof, so I’m wondering if I can start working with a contractor now to get proof, or if I can use another loophole and just take the exam to get my license. Does anyone know how to go about this, or are there any contractors out there that could assist me in getting my license?
Also, if I just intend to build my home and not sell it for at least 4 years, is there a workaround for communities with HOA’s that require a licensed contractor?
I already have an established LLC and have done small work, but not documented, so I have no records to show the state other than the existence of said LLC.
I would also appreciate any leads on Contractors for hire to assist me in building my home in North Georgia.

Stupid idea for a 4090?
I have a lead on a 4090 that has a burned connector. Even with travel time, gas, new PSU, and parts to repair the unit, I still think I’d come out ahead to drive all that way and repair the connector.
If you had a lead on a 4090 that was a “stupid good price” …. Would you make the 700 mile trip and try to repair it?
It’s effectively 1/4 the price of what I can find online new or used.
Tell me I’m not crazy to think of doing this?
Alternatively, for double the price, I can potentially get a 3090 24gb card that’s functioning without issues.
Would it be worth the risk? I’m thinking it would be worth the risk of getting the 4090 and still trying to repair it.
Also asked seller for shipping if possible as I would rather not drive that lol
