It's of course totally fine to not ship two people but yelling for people not to ship the two characters specifically in your story that is clearly tagged as platonic is just... weird? If people are seeing romance in your platonically written characters, you're probably not writing it correctly?
There's a pair that I can enjoy platonically or romantically, and there's a series with them as platonic and half the stories have an all caps screaming tag like "IF I SEE ANY SLASH WE'RE GONNA FIGHT!"
Your just turning off readers. If someone comments something shipping them romantically, delete the comment and move on. You don't have to insult people's ship. It comes off as super immature. I did read the series and it was good enough to keep me interested but I was constantly rolling my eyes at the tags.
The funniest part is these excerpts from one particular fic in the series with a don't ship them tag:
-"I know baby, I know. I'm so close ok? Just a little longer."
-"I know, I know baby," name redacted was shushing him quietly, hesitantly moving to caress his face, carefully tilting his chin up.
-And they stayed like that, redacted awkwardly crouched over him, whispering sweet nothings to him.

I have struggled with MDD along with some other issues for over a decade now & it just feels like I’ve been underwater my whole life. I have repressed most of my childhood and what I do remember is warped from my siblings. Most recently though my biggest issue is that I just cannot accept myself. I just hate who I am, what I look like everything. I don’t think I’ll ever ‘love myself’ but I do want to be able to at least look myself in the mirror. I know I’m not alone but that doesn’t make me feel better.. I cannot maintain relationships, I have no friends, I have felt utterly alone my entire life. Partly because I’m gay but even that group of people I don’t get along with all that well, we just don’t mesh like I wanted to growing up, I just feel like such an outsider in my own life like I’m watching someone else’s pathetic life just dwindle away.
It sounds so dramatic but I just don’t want to continue just being a burden on myself anymore. I made sure that I am self sufficient so I don’t ever have to rely on anyone ever, but I just feel like I am a waste of cells. I don’t know how to approach it anymore, I’m just so tired of fighting myself it’s exhausting and I’m not getting anywhere.

2025.01.18 04:57 AHorribleGoose Is the existence of Melchizidek based on a mistranslation?
Melchizidek is of course a literary enigma. He shows up in Genesis 14, in Psalm 110, in a bunch of intertestamental literature as a Messiah-figure or as a divine figure, and of course in Hebrews, with Jesus as a priest in the order of Melchizidek.
All of this, though, is still quite unexplained since he shows up for a couple lines in a story that doesn't make much sense, disappears, and somehow ends up being a near-god figure by Jesus' time. He's like a phantom who grows.
There's some interesting incongruities, though.
First, the Genesis 14 passage is almost certainly a later interpolation into the Torah. This means that Psalm 110 is very possibly first. And what we have in Psalm 110 isn't necessarily a name! The NRSV also translates "You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek." as "You are forever a rightful king by my edict." The Hebrew is super weird and unclear.
What's wild is that if the NRSV is right with this variant translation, then Genesis 14 was probably creating a figure that never existed to give meaning to a misunderstanding of the Hebrew. It's a misreading. And all the history from there, then, is all based on misunderstanding a weird Hebrew phrase.
Will we ever know this is true? Certainly not. But it's wild and humbling to think about.

And there was no divide in jatis before british because all the four varnas were tied in one thread and had to work for each other and society.
