This is going to be rather heavy.
I was able to walk a bit as a kid, but it became more difficult as I got bigger and heavier. I went from walking unaided to walking with a frame, then needing an adult to hold both my hands, until I couldn't walk at all. The thing is that people who were supporting me would get angry when I struggled. I'd sometimes walk too slowly and they'd insist I go faster, which often cause me to fall. One time, I was struggling and asked if I could hold their hand, to which they said no, causing me to fall again. They'd always get angry. I'm sure that when I was about 6 at school, the person supporting me was once so angry that I was doing my work too slowly that she sat opposite me and very sternly told me to just follow her directions to draw some lines in my book. The thing was that if she said 'up', she actually meant down. Left meant right, right meant left etc. I realise now that she was telling me to draw from her perspective and not mine, but as a six-year-old child, I didn't understand; I just forced myself to work out this strange code she'd set for me.
The thing is I'm sure this practice of making impossible demands of disabled people is still going on, even at a societal or state level. Some countries have impossible demands just so people can survive and any reaction tends to be seen as "biting the hand that feeds". I don't think this is a mistake either. This has to be malicious, right? I don't believe it's just ignorance; I'm sure it's full-blown hatred.
