Just a rant. i have Chronic migraines, like everyday. The most pain relief I’ve had in 4 months was 2 weeks headache free. It’s a mix of having a headache everyday then it turns into migraines for a few days then back to headaches. I’ve been off work. I’m still a new grad I have about 8 months experience. Im seeing a neuro doc and going thru all of the meds. The headaches are just persistent.
I live in a town where there’s only one hospital system and they have two hospitals. They own most of the clinics as well. Only one psych hospital, and pretty much one of everything. 2 medspas who aren’t hiring🥲 there’s like no PRN and part time positions and if they were they would probably go to someone with experience. I feel so screwed like I dont have much experience, I’m in pain everyday, nothing I’ve been prescribed breaks my headaches so far. Prob gonna lose my job bc no FMLA
Any nurses with chronic illness have any advice 🥲

If I’m being honest I do miss a lot of context in fromsoft games as I’m sure a lot of us do, but seeing isshin pop up like “surprise muthafucka!” Was just that.
I’ve seen people fighting him in the reeds a million times on videos so I just assumed I didn’t get that ending when I saw him die in the pagoda and Genichiro in the field.

It just seems weird. Why not have them come home to die with their loved ones. Sure death is hard to deal with for the living, but abandoning them seems like a worse fate.

Hi,
ich will eine privater Versicherung abschließen. Im Antragsbogen wird natürlich nach meinen psychischen Diagnosen gefragt, möglichst mit ICD Code.
Habe dazu meine Patientenquittungen angefordert, dort finde ich zwei F-ICDs Codes, u.a. eine schwerer Panikstörung, die ich mit Sicherheit nicht habe. Habe den Arzt aufgefordert diese Diagnosen zu löschen, bis jetzt keine Antwort. In dem Bericht des Arztes an meinen Hausarzt wird von dieser Panikstörung kein Wort verloren, ich war auch nicht deswewegen beim Neurologen, sondern wegen Missempfindung der Haut. Dies ist richtig im Arztbrief dokumentiert.
Muss ich das jetzt angeben oder nicht? Der Verischerungsberater konnte mir hierzu leider keine eindeutige Aussage geben.
in den Patientenquittungen steht einfach nur "F-40.1" drin, ohne "V" wie Verdacht oder "auschluss von". Keine Ahnung ob das jetzt als Diagnose gilt oder nicht.
Wisst ihr da mehr?

Hey there—timid DIYer hoping for some guidance. Before you say “Call a plumber,” 99% of the time I do, but I’m reasonably handy everywhere else in my house and trying to get over my irrational fear of flooding everything if I so much as touch a pipe.
Replacing a toilet fill valve seemed like a reasonable place to start. So I was all set, got everything ready, and then was totally surprised to find this particular toilet has a chrome riser line — everything else in the house is flexible. Dunno why. I thought maybe I should replace that too but then decided better to not make more trouble for myself.
So I did the new fill valve, tightened everything up at the tank and supply line, gave the packing nut on the supply valve a little love too (why do those things always start to cry the moment you touch them?) and so far everything’s working and bone dry.
My question is should I be replacing this chrome line? Its worked well enough that I didn’t know it was even there for 10 years, but I would assume there’s some good reason no one seems to use them anymore?
Thanks for entertaining a low-stakes post from a total noob. I’m sorry I don’t have any mockable pictures of S-traps or shark bite fittings to offer. I know it’s rude to show up to someone’s home without a gift.

It keeps printing the tag, and then it prints one right behind it with numbers from the previously printed ticket. Any ideas? I have tried everything! I sadly don't have customer support... also I have tried everything to get the barcodes to scan. They use to work then out of no where it stopped working. Been without scanning for years and it SUCKS I just recently took over my mom's store. I'm not to knowledgeable in the system. We use the thermal print. The indicator thing on the inside is in the correct spot. Any help would be appreciated

2025.01.18 19:00 AlwaysReady1 Getting Paid for Peer Reviews? My Honest Review of ResearchHub After 6 Months
At the beginning of 2023, I was talking to a labmate and friend of mine about science and society. This is one of those friendships in which you talk about absolutely everything and on paper you end up offering solutions for most of the problems in the world. One of the topics was the current state of science and how in academia you pretty much have to play the game of metrics/indexes, publish every so often, build your resume in any way you can, etc., if you want to survive. Back then our advisor had sent us articles that he needed to peer review and I always dreaded doing it because I didn’t want to do a bad job and get him in trouble or something, and while I wanted to do the best job possible, I also hated having to spend time on it and not getting anything in exchange while still having to run a bunch of experiments of my own.
My labmate told me about a website called ResearchHub that was paying people $150 to do peer reviews of papers uploaded to preprint servers such as biorxiv and like many of you, to me this money is nothing to scoff at and can have a big impact on my monthly expenses/savings. There was one caveat though and it is that the payment was made in crypto and I knew nothing about it, but as a curious scientist, I decided to explore it at the very least.
For starters, the website has a similar appearance and functionality as Reddit, you have upvotes and downvotes. Instead of subreddits, you have hubs which are like fields of knowledge that contain papers related to the field. When I started doing the peer reviews, the requirements were relatively simple, you basically had to provide comments on categories they have already set up and include information about your expertise, then an editor in charge of reviewing the peer reviews would grant you the $150 (they called it a bounty but now they call it a grant, a peer review grant) if the quality was good enough. The requirements have changed a bit over the last 6 months. I noticed at the beginning that many peer reviews were kinda mediocre and would still be awarded but over the time they started getting more selective about awarding the bounty to the peer reviewer, which in all honesty I liked, I was breaking my back writing somewhat good peer reviews (I hope at least) only for others to be given the same money with less effort. The latest requirements include providing comments on each of the figures in the preprint, which I think is good from the point of view of scientific discussion, it just takes you a bit more time to complete the peer review. You have 14 days to post your peer review and they make the decision in the next 7 days about whether you get the bounty or not. They give the bounty up to 3 peer reviewers which is similar to the number of peer reviewers in traditional scientific journals.
One thing I like a lot that they implemented recently is that you can request the creation of the bounty on a preprint of your choosing, which makes it easier to peer review than having to use your knowledge to peer review preprints on adjacent fields and it seems you can request it somewhat frequently. I don’t know if they have a limit, but there have been instances in which I have requested bounties on 3 preprints in a week and this has made it easier for me to get the bounties awarded. The other thing I like a lot is that they have Q&A sessions throughout the week in case one has questions or issues either with the website or something else. I like the sessions because I think they have some issues with communication from their side, so for example, normally you don’t get a notification if you were not approved, so you don’t know if they haven’t assessed the peer reviews or your peer review wasn’t good enough.
The main downside or annoying part was the crypto part. They pay you the $150 in a crypto called ResearchCoin, so when you create your account, you have a wallet by default where you get your payments. The cynical in me initially thought that it was probably a scam but after researching the team behind it, I noticed they were scientists with a track record, publications, public appearances, etc. Initially it was a bit burdensome to convert the ResearchCoin into dollars, but eventually they created some guides which made it much more easy and once you have done it one time, then the other times you just have to follow the same procedure. In my case, it feels like routine after having done it many times already.
As a person with very little income, having extra money for doing something that normally didn’t give me anything is godsend, I plan on doing as many peer reviews as I can this year and I’m done doing peer reviews for journals for free or maybe do the typical 5-6 sentences and call it a day. I hate that there are so many scientific publications that are outright awful scientific content that was supposed to be peer reviewed but it turns out they really weren’t since they contain so many mistakes or they are just plain AI gibberish. At least on ResearchHub the information is public and you can criticize the scientific content if you find it is not robust. You can also flag low quality content or contact editors about specific concerns such as plagiarism.
