Hello everyone, my wife and I are trying to book our first companion voucher.
We were looking for South Africa and we could do economy and return in business, however is there any chance that once the book is done we can upgrade to business the first flight? Or is too difficult?
With the above, we have the same question around Japan. We can book premium economy because business is not available, any chance once we book we can upgrade to business?
Is really difficult to book business, any tips?

Another helpless post about moving into a possible German roast infestation. Do I have any rights to breaking the lease if they’re offering basic pest control? (more details in the text)
So I moved yesterday, hired movers and everything. We did NOT see the actual unit before moving in, I know this is my fault but I’m still generally young and not very knowledgeable with all of it, so like usual, we took a tour, they showed us a model unit of the floor plan that’s all staged, and from there we put a hold on the actual unit (someone was still occupying at the time) and chose a move in date.
Move in date comes, we both sign the lease electronically and go to the leasing office to get keys, go over stuff, etc. My fiancée is with the movers at my old apartment, and I’m at the new spot. I get to the unit to prep for the movers and notice a baby roach and a bigger dead roach (German roaches) in the sink. I kind of brushed it off (again, never really dealt with anything like it) and figured maybe they just came through the pipes looking for water while the unit was vacant. Washed them down the drain.
Later on, my fiancée noticed a bunch more baby german roaches (nymphs) while the movers were moving our stuff in. I start worrying that it might be more than I initially thought so we start looking around the place. In the next 24 hours, we found and killed maybe 40 nymphs and full grown German roaches, found a few in the toilet, etc. We took pictures of everything.
I went down later to the office to tell the leasing manager about the problem and she seemed surprised about it, stating it was just cleaned and nothing was seen, etc. My understanding of roaches, and Germans of course, is that once you see a few, especially in broad daylight, there’s an infestation somewhere, and it’s pretty significant.
They offer a weekly pest control and asked if I wanted them to come (Wednesday) to spray the place down. I said we want something more imminent because this seems like a serious problem, we’re just moving in, we don’t want our stuff infested, we can’t unpack anything and expose it to possible infestation, etc. The earliest they could get me a pest control appointment is Monday.
I went to Reddit (you can see my post history) and found someone in my SAME BUILDING who said he’d been dealing with the same thing for months, and that the management was acting shady with it, etc (more details in that post).
This morning we went back down because it only got worse at night obviously and wanted to ask for a different unit, building, etc. We stated we spoke with someone on the 4th floor (two floors above ours) that said they were dealing with the same problem and the leasing manager said they have no such record of anyone complaining. But in the Reddit thread I posted yesterday, the person clearly stated he’s been hounding management to remedy the roach situation he’s dealing with. So IMO, it feels like they knew this is a building wide problem, and they just don’t want to address it on a bigger scale than offering pest control to those that want it.
We basically don’t want that apartment. They told me they’re willing to move me but it won’t be available until Feb 22. This sucks because all of our stuff is sitting there in uncovered cardboard boxes, we have a lovesac couch that the movers had to unwrap for their blankets, etc. Basically wait a month to possibly infest everything and we’ve already seen roaches around the boxes and stuff. The situation sucks.
My question is, since they’re offering a new unit and/or basic pest control, do I still have any leverage of breaking the lease if we wanted to get out of there ASAP?
I’m already unhappy with the way management is seemingly lying to our faces about the situation never having come up before and acting like this roach problem is completely new. I’m scared I don’t have any leverage since they’re offering basic pest control and to be honest, it’s just not worth our mental health to need to worry about everything for a month or so as pest control is coming by weekly. We definitely won’t be unpacking anything before that time.
Sorry for the wall of text.. i’m just very stressed about this all and my fiancée even left to live with her mom for the time being until we get this sorted.
Another note I’d like to mention is I don’t even think the apartment was cleaned well. We found a mask in the closet and hair on the toilet, etc.
