Hi, location is Wales
I moved into a recent BTR apartment block based in Cardiff in March (300 apartments) that's owned by a large firm in the UK that I won't name.
The flats have been built to a very low standard and multiple tenants have had issues with; taps blasting off because they aren't screwed in, sewer gas coming up the pipes, lock handles not being bolted in properly and coming loose, communal toilets not being fixed, gaps in the window frames etc. In August we only had one lift working out of three for six weeks, and they also had a major water leak from a burst pipe that completely flooded four floors.
They have contractors that are based in Wolverhampton and have to travel back and forth to Cardiff for any repairs. They do not allow the contractors to stay overnight, and consequently there's a really bizarre rule where they can only do three jobs at a time. They also are only on a tight schedule of a visit every three weeks.
Any maintenance that is done is usually shoddy; taps aren't repaired properly and the screws poke out, it's too big of a list to go through but there are several examples of it not being done right.
Also there have been instances of maintenance being completely disrespectful of tenants; muddy footprints on the floor, scratch marks from their tools on the wall etc.
It's basically hell because we can't get anything fixed properly, and I still have sewer gas occasionally coming up.
I've raised several issues with the council, but in all honesty they're being very slow with it. Is there any other form of action that could be taken?

2025.01.18 23:14 Cabbage_Vendor A look at Nintendo's remasters on Switch and the future on Switch 2.
The Nintendo's Switch library has been packed with remasters or re-imaginings of older games, a total of 33 older games were brought to the Switch from older systems, with Wii U dominating that list. The Switch 2 won't have the advantage of a slightly weaker console whose game library can be relatively easily be ported over, as the console is backwards compatible and the Switch had a much larger install base that'll likely have already bought the games they wanted on Switch. Additionally, Nintendo Switch Online on Switch already has most NES, SNES, N64, GB and GBA games on there, so if the Switch 2 wants to hype up their NSO, they'd have to tap into NGC, NDS and possibly Wii/3DS.
It seems like we're going to get bigger game droughts on Switch 2 from Nintendo's side. Excluding the one or two Wii U games left, any remasters will require significantly more effort to bring to a modern console. Between the games that are perfectly fine as they are on NSO and the games whose sequels make a remaster pointless, what can we realistically expect to see on Switch 2 and will Nintendo be willing to take on more out-there releases like they did with Famicom Detective Club, Another Code and Advance Wars? On the plus side, it seems inevitable that Earthbound and/or Mother 3 remasters happen, as they'd arguably get the biggest fan reaction of all the games that have never had a remaster.

Hi all, can you suggest me a book based on what I loved so far?
- I love Western themes (especially the wide open space, lonelines, nature)
- Fantasy (Magic, mystic creatures)
- Sci-Fi (maybe similar to the Western theme it is the cozyness in being on an adventure with a group of friends, this is what I am looking for)
- writing style: to the point, not using 3 pages to describe a tree
- characters: story should not focus for like 3 chapters on background. Should be rather plot driven but with interesting clever characters

I’m 24 and I got my bachelor degree in Interactive Media, focused on Game Design. Always wanted to do 3D modeling for games. Didn’t learn any of that in college, just some game design. There is no money and no jobs in game design or 3d modeling. Kinda gave up on that. I have years of CAD experience but no jobs want you unless you have an engineering degree. I don’t know how to find opportunities and positions. In anything. I can’t just go back to college and get a new degree I probably won’t use again. How do I find stuff that could be interesting and pay enough to not suffer, without having to pay and wait years (another degree) to get a chance at a job. Before I went to college. The gaming industry was good and had plenty of opportunities and was growing. By the time I’m ready to enter, it shits the bed. Hardly matters though since now I find out you can’t get an entry level position for pennies without having AAA quality work and years of industry experience.
Anyway. Right now I work at a building supply store kinda like a hardware store. But more personal and knowledgeable. I have a base knowledge of how many things work when it comes to home renovation. Windows, doors, flooring, tile, cabinetry, etc. enough that working there I’ve been able to do a lot of renovations by myself to my home. Most jobs I’ve done are labor jobs. So what I need help with is being shown what jobs exist and where to look really.
The above, writing, 3d art, CAD, game design, user experience, learning things I’m taught hands on very quickly. That’s all the actual skills and knowledge I have really.
Things I’m interested in that probably have to do with jobs.
Games, anime, CAD, writing, design in general kinda, 3d art, rocks and minerals (I know I need a geology degree to do anything with that lol) tanks and other armor, firearms, military combat, medieval combat. Idk.
I cant do welding even though it interests me, because my eyes and light and strain trigger migraines.
Idek what else to write. This is just a burnout depression hopelessness post lol.
