2025.01.18 23:10 Wooshio Anyone else really enjoy the story and cut scenes in SS4?
I am seeing a lot of hate for the cutscenes of SS4 in the Steam reviews, I definitely had the opposite experience. It was fun to follow the bonkers story and see what crazyness they came up with all the way to the end, and while the other characters are cliché sure, they are unpretentious movie action hero stereotypes and work well within the tongue in cheek context of the game. I also found many jokes legit funny. The whole thing added a whole other layer to the campaign for me that was missing on other SS games. Kind of confused to see so much hate for it. What do you guys think?

2025.01.18 23:10 Wise-Reception-9122 AITAH for giving my (25F) boyfriend’s (26M) stepmother (47F) a taste of her own medicine (respectfully)
Have to start at chapter 1 in order to give the full context…: My boyfriend (let’s call him Ted) and I started dating officially June 2024. We met in 2021 when we were stationed at the same base. We ironically got divorced a week apart from each other and he posted something about it and I laughed and commented on it, then the rest is history.
2024 was an eventful year to say the least. I got divorced, my dad died, my uncle died 2 weeks later, and found out my grandma has cancer again. Because of my divorce, I was on my way to move to New York to live with my “friend” (let’s call him Carl) when I got the news my dad had died. At that point Ted and I had been talking for a few weeks. And he still wanted to pursue our relationship and took on my baggage. My “friend” that has been in my life for 7 years, I think got jealous I was talking to Ted and started being distant and cold to me. I had to come back to Florida for a job, so I asked Carl to get some items out of storage for me that I needed for my Dad’s funeral. He gave me all sorts of attitude and was just plain rude to me, so that’s when Ted told me I can move officially to Florida and live with him. So since I was stuck in my job, I paid for plane tickets for Ted and his Father (let’s call him Brian) to New York and they ever so kindly packed my storage unit back up and moved it down to Florida for me.
I was invited down to South Florida for the 4th of July and to meet his whole family. This is where everything starts. The first day I met Ted’s step mother (call her Janice), she told me how Ted’s ex was a nightmare and never wanted to be around them (Hindsight 20/20, now I see why). While it’s a pool party, I’m in a bikini. I’m 5’3 and 130 pounds, I don’t find myself fat. She told me “You better start working out now if you ever plan on having kids, otherwise your body won’t look good”. I just kinda stood there and awkwardly laughed and said yeahhh. I’m there for a week until I go back to the panhandle for my job.
As I’m up in the panhandle, Brian and Janice help out with moving both mine and Ted’s stuff into the loft. We live in the “office space turned into apartment” above his dad’s and co-owner’s business. Janice the whole time was judging the decor I had and said I need to get rid of stuff. I moved from a 3 bed 2 bath house to a SMALL 2ish bedroom apartment… yes I have a lot of stuff and that is why I got a storage unit since I know the loft is not a permanent place. I officially move to south Florida in August 2024.
Throughout my time there, before I left again for my job in the panhandle, every time they wanted to have dinner, visit their daughter (Megan) at college for a football game, etc, I said yes. Come September (a week before I leave for my job in the panhandle again) Ted’s brother (Joe) and wife (Monica) had their first child (Savannah) and first grandchild of the family. They are in another state so there was a Group FaceTime while we were at the college football game. Ted and I were on one side of the field and Brian and Janice were on the other side. They announce the name of the baby girl and I immediately start crying and walk away. It was the same name I’ve been planning on naming my first girl as it has significance to me and my family. Ted and Megan both knew that was the name I wanted. I know people are saying “you can still name it the same name”, but I grew up with my step dad and brother having the same name and to this day, I still have to ask my mom which one she is talking about. So if I can avoid that annoyance, I will. This happened only a few months after I lost my dad and uncle, so it’s almost like another grief to me. I’m still on my little walk (still in eyesight) when Brian and Janice come over to celebrate. I’m slowly walking back with tears still in my eyes and Janice grabs my arm to get me to sit down and says “Look at the baby!!!!” All I said was “I can’t right now” still crying. And apparently she took offense to that. Then the whole rest of the night I’m quiet and she’s trying to include me in everything when I just want to be left alone. I still sat with them for the game but I’m being pulled every which way when it’s very clear I’m upset and never asked by her if I’m okay or what’s going on. Ted told her what was going on and she said “what it’s just a name what’s the big deal”, brushing off my feelings. I then have to leave 2 days later for my job in the panhandle (which everyone knew). They said I was being too distant and not talking to anyone. Which was not true as I texted in the family group chat a couple times (especially since it was hurricane season and Milton coming). I even texted Janice directly and she never answered me. But she still complained of me “not talking to them”?? I also text Joe and Monica about the situation and how I don’t blame them or hate them for choosing that name, since they had no idea. And that I am glad she has a wonderful beautiful name.
I come back from my job in the panhandle on Halloween just in time for a Christian concert (ironic I know). A thing to know about Brian and Janice is when they go do something or spend money, it’s on the best of the best. I agree to this concert and then I find out it’s VIP and front row, and I still have to pay for my own ticket… alright. The concert is going and these girls around my age start pushing and dancing in front of me, inches from me. Me and Megan try to go around and get yelled at by security. I am 5’3 and already have a hard time seeing over anything, let alone these girls in heels inches from me. So I sit down bc I can’t go around and I can’t see anyways and there’s all up in my space. Janice tried to get me to stand back up, but I said what’s the point, I can’t see either way. She is also 5’9-10 and has no problem seeing over them. So Janice and Brian get uncomfortable bc I am annoyed I paid all this money for front row and can’t see.
After the concert, everything is “fine”. Joe, Monica, and Savannah are about to come down from out of state for Thanksgiving. I’m working on the other side of town and Janice asks in our smaller group chat (the local family) if we wanted to grab dinner at a restaurant I was near. Little did I know…. “The reason we wanted to have this dinner is so we can have a talk and clear the air”… In my head I’m like… just tell me you want to talk like an adult. Don’t try to cover it up and ambush me with a talk, we are all grown adults. Janice says well it’s very loud in here, so can you guys just come to our house instead. So the rest of that dinner was awkward. We get to their house and it’s all about the baby name. Janice then tells me I need therapy (we all do, next.) and goes on and on and I’m just sitting there nodding my head not losing my sh*t on her. I told her I sent Joe and Monica a long text explaining everything and they understood and emphasized.
While Joe, Monica, and Savannah are in town, we are all hanging out every single day. Ya girl only has so much social meter, but since this was my first time meeting them and they live out of state, I sucked it up and forced myself to have more social meter. For their baby shower gift, I worked a month on an intricate cross stitch for them/Savannah with her name and flowers and such. No one had any idea I was working on something until Ted said “hey we have to get home, she has a project she needs to finish by Friday (the baby shower)”. In my head/look on my face I’m like bro… why… as we’re in the garage leaving with Ted’s grandma (mom’s side) I tell him “why would you say anything? You don’t say sh*t” and I guess that caused a whole thing with his dad’s side. I wasn’t even able to finish it by Friday so I gave it to them on Sunday. And guess who the first person was that started crying and gave me a hug as Joe and Monica open the gift.. yup, Janice. In my head I’m like… this isn’t for you? But as always, I didn’t say anything.
Fast forward to the first weekend of December. Janice wanted to “include” me and go to her niece’s sweet 16 birthday party. She then asked if we could take my car so we don’t have to take her car.. once again I said okay sure and obliged. She also insisted we leave at 4pm on Friday (normally a 4 hour drive) to get there Friday night. It took 6 hours because of traffic. I was not allowed to have my own music play nor have it over volume 8. I ask (in my OWN car) if I can listen to the Harry Potter book, and she said “yes but you’re just going to have to pause it every time I want to talk…” which was non stop…. We talked to each other a little with her doing most of the talking. I talk about what I want to plan for Ted’s birthday coming in January. He didn’t want anything big, so I wanted to plan a dinner with BOTH sides of the family since I’ve never seen a bday dinner photo for him with both sides. Which I told Janice. She then tried to get us to go up to see Joe, Monica, and Savannah but I told her neither of us want to travel as I leave on the 13th to go back to the panhandle. She then persists and looks up flights and everything and I again tell her we don’t want to travel and I just want to plan a surprise dinner with both sides of the family and she subsided. 20 minutes away from our destination, she goes “we need to talk about how you get overwhelmed and turn into a turtle. I don’t want my sister and family to be embarrassed” again, ambushing me with a talk where I have no warning or escape. I slightly defend myself with how everyone has a social meter and such, but she wasn’t having it. The whole weekend turned out fine.
Now we’re at Dec 30. What set EVERYTHING off. Janice texted Ted asking what she should plan for his birthday and if he wanted a small thing or big bc it would be hard to find a place to accommodate that many people (It wasn’t but okay). My whole plan was to do the dinner and get everyone funny matching shirts with his face on it. It’s only 26 but whatever I love birthdays. He goes on to tell her he’s not sure if I’m planning anything or not. My thing is why 1. Go around me in the first place? We are grown adults who live together, yes you ask the gf/spouse first before you try to plan something yourself. She texts me hours later if I was planning something. I said, yes we talked about it on our long drive earlier that month. She insists she knows nothing of plans. I tell her I never had a definitive place, but had the idea. I told her if she wants to plan something for his dads side that fine and I can plan something for his moms side and gave her my plan. She then comes at me asking why they weren’t included, which they were but she went around me to plan something herself. I told her multiple times that I can still add them to the reservation but to let me know. She didn’t answer me for 4 days… I’ve already ordered the shirts. She said they would love to be added on. I tell her well I wish you would’ve answered me on Monday as I’ve already ordered the shirts. I contacted the company and they said there’s no way to get 5 extra shipped on time. And I can still add you 5 to the reservation tho. She lost it. She told me that that’s terrible problem solving and she doesn’t know how i think they would be okay with this or me. There’s more constructive ways to go about this. I’m like ???? I’m confused. I tried to solve the problem and I’m not sure how she doesn’t see that. I took a few breathers as to not over react and say things I regret. I did finally stand up for myself. I tell her how I tried to solve the problem and they just wouldn’t have a shirt. How I told her what I was wanting to plan then she went around me. How taking 4 days to respond to my texts is not good problem solving either. I also told her that she has only known my for 5 months and she doesn’t know me or what I can do. That it was rude to tell me I need therapy and rude to tell me how I should act and react. I then AGAIN told her I can still add them to the reservation if they would like. No response.
Birthday dinner with his mom’s side was a success and he was surprised with the shirts and it was a great time.
Janice kicked me out of the family group chat and banned me from their house. Ted works for his dad and they talk about this situation sometimes. Janice has called Ted and asked if he really wants to be with me and what about their opinions, TRYING to break us up. Brings up the baby name, the concert, me saying “sh*t”. He responded with “honestly no one else’s opinions matter, we are together and that’s that.” Ted’s mom (Nancy) called Brian and talked it over with him and Brian agreed with Nancy (that I did nothing wrong). My only guess is he went home, talked with Janice and hell part 261 broke loose. Apparently he was supposed to call me, which never happened.
Now it’s gotten to the point where Brian is so stressed out with Janice, Joe, and Megan being upset that their son/brother isn’t on his family’s side. He took the neutral position at first since he’s been put in the middle his entire life between his dads and mom’s side. He’s now realizing how controlling and narcissistic Janice is. His father, Brian is now putting him in the middle with “if you don’t take her side then you’re a bad boyfriend and if you don’t have our side then the family is disappointed in you” and how he is uncomfortable seeing my car at the business/our place of living above the business and that I need to relocate if we are still together before I’m done with my job in the panhandle and am overseas job. I’m like…. So I already have them stresser of going overseas with limited communication and you’re making me move bc you’re uncomfortable seeing my car.. even when I’m not there…
I know I am not the perfect person. I have my flaws, as does everyone else in this world.

So… AITAH for giving Janice a taste of her own medicine by telling her how I feel, bluntly, when she does the same thing and expects people to just take it? Also what about me being told to relocate?
