Where should I get these authenticated? My grand dad gave these to me a while back and it seems like they’re worth something but I have no clue where to go or what to do

2025.01.19 00:11 LeakyMilk Sam and Am: Chapter 6: Covet

The bell rang dragging every student to their seats. Screams filled the halls as Sam followed the backs of her friends to class. As everyone piled into seats Sam opened her desk to grab a pencil. Paper stacked in the corner rested next to a box of pencils. Erasers laid still next to a pink sharpener. Laying almost flat with a crease down the middle was a piece of folded paper. Her name was written in black sharpie right over the fold. This was easily very mysterious, if it had not been for the fact her mother was a teacher. A sappy love note from mother to daughter was very likely. Sam had to dispose of the evidence. As she pulled the paper from her desk Mrs. Sugar began the day's lesson. Sam just crammed the paper into her pocket.
Math problems and word vocabulary overshadowed the small amount of science and history. When lunch finally came around Sam found herself eating quickly to get a chance at dodgeball in the basketball courts. Amber didn't quite understand Sam's tenacity for contact sports or hitting people in the face with red rubber balls. But she was eager to learn. Amber ate almost as quickly as her sister before following her out to the courts.
“What on earth are ya doing?” Sam quickly spotted the creature following her as Amber pulled back a little. “You can't play with me, you'll get your glasses broken.” Amber knew exactly the troubles her sister mentioned. Amber just pulled off her thick frames, putting them next to her backpack on the ground. Amber just smiled with a slight head tilt as she tried to appease Sam. “Can you even see me?” Sam just waved her hand in front of her face.
“I c-c-can see just f-f-fine.” And like that they continued forward. What they did not expect to find was a red herring. Kim stood tall in the middle of everyone as she tossed the ball at faces running by. Sam didn't have time to weigh the options as Amber stood her ground waiting for the game to finish. Kim’s team won as she hit the last kid. Amber just walked up ready to play. Kim caught sight of her as she gripped the red ball. The pair locked eyes staring each other down. Captains grabbed who they wanted quickly, leaving Amber last picked. Kim hesitantly added her to her team. Sam was opposing. She didn't want to hit her sister and tried her best not to, however Amber wasn't exactly super coordinated, especially without her glasses.
The game heated up as Amber found herself jumping into others. Kim was getting frustrated with her. Sam lobbed a haymaker right for Kim as Amber cut in-between the throw. Amber's hands wrapped around herself in an attempt to catch the ball. Obviously it failed. The ball just dropped as a voice called Amber out.
“You can't even catch the ball!” Kim angrily told Amber how she thought about her playing. She wasn't done. She was about to turn her around to tell her exactly how she was ruining the game for her. As Kim walked forward someone bumped into her, sending her falling forward. Kim reached out trying to grab hold of anything to stop her fall. Her hand clutched what it could as she dragged it to the floor with her. Everyone froze. Kim looked up as she saw Amber's pants in her grasp. At the top of her bare legs were pink panties with little mummys on them dressed in cop uniforms. Amber looked back as her face filled with the color red. Their expressions mirrored each other's as their eyes locked. Quickly Sam ran up as she pulled up Amber's pants. Laughter broke out from everyone. “I'm sorry it was an accident.” Kim just stood trying to defend herself. Amber just froze, unable to speak. That's when Sam gave Kim a death stare before running to grab Amber her things.
“What….Hey who touched my sister's glasses?!” Amber ran to her backpack as she searched all around for her glasses. They were nowhere in sight. Kim just felt all this guilt building in her through everyone's laughs. “This isn't funny, where are they?!” Amber just started to cry. She ran off quickly as the bell rang. Sam wanted to interrogate everyone but they soon dispersed. Amber ran through the hall looking for her father's classroom. Suddenly she was pulled back. Kim stopped her in her tracks.
“I'm sorry, it was an accident, and I didn't take your glasses, just a couple jerks did.” Kim pulled out the glasses, cleaning them on her shirt. Sam rushed down the hall stopping when she saw them. Kim just stared at the floor as she held out the glasses. Amber pulled her arms away from her body taking the glasses. As the lenses covered her eyes Kim came into view. Her bright red hair ran down her petite body with her face hiding from confrontation.
“T-t-thank you.” Amber spoke as she held herself together with a crooked smile. Kim turned her face sour as she looked up.
“Wipe that stupid look off your face. I was only being nice, besides it's your fault for not being good at dodgeball, and I don't want to hear anything more.” Amber just followed Kim back to class as she ranted and raved. Sam felt there was nothing more that could be done and made her own way through the halls.
Class continued like normal. A test took place right as everyone was seated. Sam ran the words over in her head trying to place capitals to states. When the day rushed to the last bell she sat on the steps outside the school. That’s when another pair of cheeks sat right next to her. Amber just pulled open her binder scribbling away with her words. Sam couldn't help but peer over at her writings. The sides of the paper were chicken scratch and doodles. The lines surrounded a lot of words. Amber felt the eyes of her sister being a bit too invasive as she tried to pull away from her. That’s when two more pairs of feet hit the steps. Brian and Sofia pulled the girls to their feet as they walked to the car. The car ride was calm as they picked up Liam and made their way towards their little home in the countryside.
Once the car reached its destination everyone rushed inside. Liam quickly pulled open the fridge as everyone else went to their rooms. Sofia wanted nothing more than to change out of her clothes and so did Brian as he pulled out a set of clothes from the closet under the stairs. The girls pushed into their room. Amber set down her things as she cleared off her desk. Sam just jumped in her bed as she read through her messages while emptying out her pockets. She took count of each item, A thin pink wallet, two gum wrappers, an eraser, and folded note. A note with her name on it. She had almost forgotten her note from her mom. Sam leaped off bed as she raced downstairs. Sofia was cleaning what little dishes were in the sink. Sam just stood at the edge of the kitchen table watching her.
“There's something we need to discuss, I don't appreciate things like this.” Sam held up the note determined to put an end to things before they began. Sofia barely turned her head as she scrubbed away. Sofia feigned ignorance. “Don't lie to me, I know you put this love note in my desk!” And just like Sofia stopped.
“Love note? Huh I never thought of that, I like that idea, what should it say.” Sam was getting tired of dumb girl routine. Sam held up the note higher begging for answers. “Oh someone did leave you a love note, well it wasn't me sweetie.” Sofia shifted back to the sink as she dried cups. Sam was unsure of what was exactly going on.
“A love note!” Liam's loud voice came with his grasp as he pulled the note from Sam's little fingers. Sam's whole world came crashing down as realization set in. “Ohh someone has a crush on my widdle sister.” Liam held the note up to the light like he was trying to see through it. Sam quickly turned on her feet as she tried to jump up and grab it. Liam dangled it from high up as he chuckled.
“Come on Liam, be nice to your sister,” Sofia said, dragging herself into the next room. Sofia showed her concern in such a way she might as well have said nothing. Sam started contemplating everything that could have been in the note, not that she had long to wait to figure out what was in it.
“I'll be the nicest brother imaginable and read this note for you dear sister.” Liam smiled wide as he unfolded the paper. Sam climbed into a chair trying to snatch what was hers as Liam pulled away leaving chase. Sam chased him into the living room. “Dear Sam, I find you quite fascinating, I can't help but keep my eyes glued to you like a bee to a flower, please know that you make my heart flutter, love your secret admirer.” Soon the letter came fluttering down as Liam dropped it. Sam barely had time to think about the words. “Oh that's so sweet you have a crush.” Sam just started punching her brother over and over.
“You're such a jerk, I hate you!” Sam shouted as she kept up the chase. Liam ran off to his room locking the door behind him. Sam kicked and punched his door over and over until the note fell out of her hand. Sam laid against the wall sliding down it as she picked up the note. She familiarized herself with the words as goosebumps covered her arms. Sam just read the note over and over until a pair of feet entered the hall. Amber just stood watching for the noise that pulled her from her room. “I got a love note from a boy.” Sam didn't even try to hide it as Amber walked over reading it over her shoulder.
“Or a girl.” Amber's words pulled Sam to her feet as she shook her head. She cramped the letter into her pocket.
“Nooo, I like boys so it has to be from a boy, don't think weird thoughts.” Sam froze as she realized her words. Amber didn't flinch; she just tilted her head staring at her sister. “I didn't mean like your weird because you like girls because that's normal, I just mean you're weird cause you're my sister.” Sam back peddled her bike so hard she was back at the bike shop she bought it from. Amber just put her finger on her mouth biting her nail with no emotion on her face. “I never know what you're thinking, you're always so quiet.” Amber pulled her finger from her mouth as she pulled up on her tiptoes.
“It t-t-takes to l-l-l-long to t-t-t-t-talk I can-n-t-t-t get m-m-m-my wh-h-hole p-p-p-p-p-poin-t across, w-w-w-wh-a-ts -t-t-t-the p-p-p-point.” Amber grabbed the bottom of her hair as she strang together her words. Her lips pulled on her strained face trying to do exactly what she was talking about. Sam turned on her feet facing her sister as she grabbed their bedroom door.
“The point is no matter what you should speak up and people should just listen.” Sam's words transferred her goosebumps. Amber followed Sam into their room watching her jump onto her bed. This sudden burst of courage sent Amber to her desk. She pulled open her binder writing away.
Night took over as dinner finished. The girls got ready for bed with showers and teeth brushing. Amber crawled under her covers hiding from the open air as Sam pulled her sheets tight. Sam's mind quickly flicked back to note. Every boy she ever noticed popped into her head. There were too many to count. Like Brad Michaels, he sat two desks behind her and had a sweet voice, or Stevie Nichols, who always had this long flowing blonde hair, let's not forget Landon Thomas. Landon was an eighth grader but all the girls watched him closely. He played sports, was good at running, and even bragged about driving his mother's car. It was also pretty obvious her faint affection for her brother’s friend Bobby. Yes nine to sixteen was a big age gap but a girl could dream.
Morning finally came as Sam sat at the table waiting patiently. Lucas was up early as he cooked together a set of eggs and bacon. Everything was quiet in the house.
“Uncle Lucas, how do you ask someone out?” Sam posed her question quickly before anyone else entered the room. Lucas turned as he licked his fingers.
“Depends, if you know they like you just go up and ask them, if you don't well then just go talk to them first.” Lucas flipped his spatula as he peppered the eggs.
“Did you just ask Aunt Kitty out?” Sam reached across the table grabbing an orange. Lucas stopped turning off the burner. He just pushed everything onto a plate before sitting at the table.
“I spent most of my life pleasing this girl, one day I realized she didn't care about me the way I cared for her, she uhhh……well she wasn't faithful so I left her, but I didn't have anywhere to go…..anyway there was this girl I always had a crush on in highschool and I told myself I would finally work up the courage to ask her out.” Lucas salted his food before putting a small plate in front of Sam. Lucas gripped his heart listening to his own touching story.
“So your girlfriend cheated on you and you resorted to a crush you had in highschool.” Sam's words pierced his heart as she nibbled on bacon. “What was the point of that story again?” Lucas held his head low before pulling it back up with a smile.
“The point was life is always moving, you just have to go with what's in your heart.” Sam just blinked at him as the kitchen started to fill up. Once breakfast was over the car filled. The ride to school was quiet. Sofia and Brian just quietly chatted amongst themselves about work as all the kids typed away on their phones. Sam was texting all her friends that she was ten minutes away from seeing. Liam was texting Bobby and watching a song cover. Amber was the only one not texting a friend. Her fingers were searching the web for firearms to inspire her work.
When the car made its last stop everybody walked into the school. Amber and Sam split ways as Sam headed for the cafeteria. Her friends crowded around their table with their little square pizza. Magan couldn’t help but go on about how great her Christmas was gonna be. Sam couldn’t believe how far ahead she was thinking. Thanksgiving hasn’t even happened yet. Sam’s mind snapped back to the note. Her eyes looked around slowly. There were no eyes on her. Nothing she could link to the note. Although it was in her desk which had to mean he was in her class, or that he popped in the classroom before she did. Sam stood ready to get some answers when the bell rang.
Mrs. Sugar’s class filled slowly. She began writing out the structure of the day. Each lesson was ran over as she tried to make sure everyone was understanding. Sam wasn’t particularly good at history or science but math seemed to just click for her. She couldn’t come up with a formula involving rocket fuel but these worksheets weren’t the hardest for her. With math out of the way English took over. Vocabulary was tired and needless but it had to be done. Sam wrote her words as fast as possible. She finished first and quickly ran up to the teacher's desk setting in front of her.
‘Mrs. Sugar, can I ask you something?” She looked up as her hand kept grading papers. Mrs. Sugar locked eyes for a good second before lowering her head back down. Sam lowered her voice leaning forward. “I got this note, do you know who put it in my desk?” Mrs. Sugar just smiled.
“Oh I can’t tell you that he promised me not to tell.” The teacher's words brought blush to Sam’s cheeks. Even if she couldn't tell her she already gave up too much information. Sam just sat back at her desk. A boy had given her a note. She had to find out who. Once the last bell rang she went to the one person she could trust. Sam stopped Amber right outside her classroom and explained her predicament. Amber just pushed her glasses more up on her face as they walked to the front of the school. Amber thought of every possible action Sam could take. She thought about interrogating every stupid, or sneaking into the principal's office and checking the cameras, or torturing her teacher for the information. But her mind stopped on the simplest answer.
“J-juat ask y-y-your mom.” Why hadn't it occurred to her. It was so simple. Sam hugged her sister before running down the hall only to stop at the end.
“Tell Uncle Brian to wait for me!” And like that she was gone. She had to catch her mother before she started cheerleading practice. Sam rushed by students as she mapped out the halls in her head. Sam turned a corner as Sofia locked up the storage room. “Mom!” Sam latched onto her mother spinning her around.
“Hey calm down, what's the rush?” Sam just pulled on her mom trying to drag her away from any lingering students. The doors of the gym shielded them from the girls stretching.
“Ok so I have to find out who left me that note but Mrs. Sugar won’t tell me and I don’t know what else to do.” In one breath Sam spilled her guts. Sofia ran through her daughter's words analyzing them.
“I mean I could ask but no idea if she will tell me, I guess I’ll ask her.” Sofia threw jump rope over her shoulder as she thought about what to do. Sam bounced on her feet as she pulled out her phone looking at the time.
“Ok thanks Mom, see you at home!” And like that Sam was gone. Sam navigated her way to the exit. The sunlight beamed through the double doors guiding her tired feet. As Sam met the open air her feet slipped on the top step. Sam tumbled forward as she dragged a student down with her. They both fell forward sliding down the steps. A small boy laid underneath her laying on his front as Sam rested on his back. Sam just slowly pulled herself up as he took over her view. He had light brown hair pulled short and to the side. His clothes, now dirty, were blue jeans and a long sleeve flannel. As he pulled himself up on his knees she saw his face. His pink cheeks sat under his bright blue eyes. Sam locked eyes with him stunned by the innocence in his eyes.
“Watch where you're going you….you….you asshat.” The boy found his words through his nerves. His voice was a bit high yet calm. Sam couldn't believe the words that he spit at her.
“Me, you were walking like a snail down those stairs!” Sam spit back at him as she got to her feet. As the two locked with heated eyes a horn cut through the tension. Brian had pulled up to the front of the school as he laid on the horn. Sam just gathered herself running to the car. She watched the rude boy as he dusted off his pants.
When home was close all Sam could think about was rushing up to her room to call her friends. The love note, the mean boy she bumped into, and probably other gossipy news was filling her head ready to burst out. She was stopped at the front door however. Kitty was sitting on the porch waiting for her. Sam had almost forgotten about her drum lesson today. She tried to quickly get out of it but Kitty pushed her into the garage. Sam sat at the drum set trying to gather her strength as Kitty tried to help her with her foot work. Sam ran the order of motions through her head. Bass drum, snare drum, bass drum, high hat. These words started to scramble around in her head. There was too much on her mind to focus.
“Aunt Kitty, how do I tell a boy I like them?” Her motions stopped as Kitty put down her phone. Kitty didn't even think hard about the question.
“You don't.” Sam didn't understand. If she didn't tell them then how would they know? Kitty moved Sam off the drums as she took over. Kitty took to the next page of her sheet music as she followed the notes. ♫ ♫ ♫ 𝅘𝅥𝅱 𝅘𝅥𝅱 ♭. Sam could barely read the notes as Kitty's hands rolled over the top of the drums. Her feet hit the kick drum as she smashed the symbols leading into a bit of cruceno. “I don't expect you to do that.” Sam wasn't sure if she was talking about her drumming or asking out boys. “Let them come to you, boys like girls ok understand, so just make yourself irresistible, show the boy you like it would be in his best interest to ask you out, tease him or show him how awesome you are.” Sam began downloading the information as fast as possible. She had all the knowledge she needed. She just needed a boy. Sam rushed out to the living room as she heard the front door.
“Mom information now!” Sam stopped Sofia before she could even put her things down. Sofia almost didn't even want to talk. She just dragged herself to the kitchen as Sam followed at the heels.
“Sugar was kind enough to give me a first name and that's it, his name is James.” Sam ran that name through her local database. Nothing turned up. Her pestering continued but Sofia had nothing more to add to the conversation. Sam eventually left her mother alone as she rushed upstairs. Amber was quite at her desk looking over her homework. Sam just jumped into bed as she read over the note again thinking of who this James could be.

2025.01.19 00:11 Winter_37 Nvidia drivers Uninstalled themselves?

So as the post says, it would appear my Nvidia drivers just up and Thanos snapped out of my system.
System specs: asus b550, ryzen 3900x, Nvidia 3080ti, 32gb corsair vengeance, corsair 1000w.
So for context I was playing Stalker 2 and was saving to exit when the application crashed. However, it didn't just crash. It took my whole system with it. I tried to task manager our and got absolutely no response. I was able to shut down via ctrl alt del.
When rebooted I lost my second monitor, and it was stuck switching between hdmi and analog. After multiple attempts at trying to get my system to register the second monitor I decided to check Nvidia GeForce for an update.
To my suprised there didn't seem to be anything new, but had to complete reinstall them and magically everything was working normally.
I'm not sure what to think. I've never had this happen before and wanted some insite if this should be cause for concern or just a fluke.
Currently everything seems to be running normally.

2025.01.19 00:11 Desperate-Database40 How do I file for workman’s comp?

I’m a 22 year old working in the construction industry for a union contractor. I hurt my back on the job four days ago, and have had low back pain. At times it’s so severe I cannot walk, sit, or lay down without assistance. No history of health issues or back problems. I love my job and want to return to work when recovered.
We filled out a FROI immediately and I was given a ride home as I was unable to drive.
The company’s clinic was unwilling to give me a thorough examination. They only had me touch my toes and answer questions about the injury. Diagnosis was lower back pain. The only treatments recommended by the online and in-person doctor were ibuprofen and icing. No work restrictions.
I asked to seek a chiropractic examination through my local chiropractor and whatever care is recommended from there. They both denied and ignored this request.
I’ve decided I need to file for workman’s comp and seek a proper examination + treatment.
How do I file for workman’s comp? Anything else I should be thinking or doing? Thank you.

2025.01.19 00:11 No_Grapefruit9486 Tufts mbs program

Hello. So I applied to Tufts mbs program for fall 2025 and was accepted a couple of days ago. I had some important questions for anyone that attended this program or knows anything about it that I couldn’t find out on their website or anywhere online.
1.) So to get an guaranteed Interview at their school you need to Meet the MD program professionalism standards, Have completed appropriate career exploration relating to the profession of medicine, Achieved a 3.70 or higher GPA upon completion of their MBS coursework, and Achieved a 510 or higher score on the MCAT. My question is what if we don’t meet their MCAT requirement will they still not give you a chance at getting an interview if you achieve a 4.0 gpa and all the other requirements?
2.) I will be a reapp after this year for med school, Will I be able to apply to medical schools before the program starts or will I have to wait until the program is completed to apply? (I heard that medical schools only use the first semester of the program when you apply so you will be able to apply before taking the program but I was skeptical about this.)
3.) How is the student life on campus and in the Boston area?
4.) Is maintaining a 3.7+ gpa doable in this program or will it be extremely intense?
5.) I’ve had mixed reviews on financial aid and financing the program. Some say financial aid is capped at 20k others say financial aid only cover tuition and others say the program is completely covered with housing through financial aid so which one is it bc this is extremely important for me if I want to attend since I won’t be able to afford it on my own?
If anyone has any information or at least clarifying somethings I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!!!!

2025.01.19 00:11 Snowy_728 Why is femdom looked down upon, but not male-dom?

Any sexual activity where a woman is the dominant one or the one being pleased sexually is always seen as weird. Not even furries get shamed like this. The right shames them, but not the left. When it comes to finding enjoyment out of being humiliated by women, it’s seen as shameful by the right and the left. Why is it not seen as shameful when it’s the other way around? So yeah, fuck the left, fuck the right. Femdom is also seen as misandrist feminist propaganda, it isn’t. The man is consenting to it, and most femdom art is drawn by men. Pls, leave me the fuck alone!

2025.01.19 00:11 daikaijuu Is it common for different types of cancer to run in the family?

Hi, first time poster.
From my dad’s side of the family there’s been:
Grandad: Prostrate Cancer, twice Grandma: Lymphatic System Cancer (not Hodgkins) Aunt: Micro Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma Cousin: Lupus Dad: Squamous Cell Carcinoma in Tonsil (unsure if HPV related) Myself: awaiting biopsy of 17mm hypoechoic and hypervascular thyroid nodule, TSH at 0.39, T3 and T4 normal. Was an incidental find after presenting tachycardia, low BP and difficulty breathing at standing or walking.
I have very limited information about my family history because they are very secretive, and I managed to get this information today upon request, arguing that I didn’t have any family history to give to my doctors.
My family lives in Venezuela (I left), most of their lives in rural areas and apart from lead exposure from exhaust, I can’t find any other probable correlation. We’re all non-smokers and non-drinkers.
So after trying to find any possible genetic correlation, I’ve found nothing and because I work in healthcare I’m rather curious.

2025.01.19 00:11 belugapatronus Window Repair Question

Window Repair Question Hi there! I have a piece of window that has cracked off. It is not between the glass panes and is on the outside. When in the room, I can move the piece. Does anyone know what piece this is and how to repair? Thanks!

2025.01.19 00:11 EnBeeHuman Signature Damaged - oil painting

Hello! First time poster here. I was wondering if anyone might recognize the signature on this painting. I just bought it and when I took it out of the frame I saw the signature. It's barely visible just from the right angle and with the right lighting, and it looks like it was damaged by the frame. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
