My husband and I have been married for 10 years together for 15. I’ve never got along well with his family. They are just very different people from me.
His sister has no kids she’s in her 40s and I actually just find her very overbearing. She pushes herself on us too much when we like to maintain a private life and do things just us a family but she asks to be included in everything with the kids. Some of the weird things she has done is, her and I were both on the best terms and she’s - got a tattoo to symbolize my kids (after asking us if she could and we both said no, she did it anyway- so why ask?) (she has no other tattoos) - blew up a large photo of her and the kids and put it on her wall (she has no other pics on her wall of ppl) -constantly was asking for our kids to sleep at their house when we had a 5 and 2 year old and she lives an hour away (the pressure of that caused issues in our marriage) -she acts very fake nice but I can’t describe it when you can tell someone feels an obligation to talk to you in order to see your kids and it’s very uncomfortable -my husband and I never hung out with her and her husband before kids but once we had kids she wants to have this big relationship with my kids (I think it stems from the fact she never had kids) and now we are supposed to create a relationship out of thin air. My brain just doesn’t work that way. - she’s done a lot of just annoying things in the past I’ll name some - her and I were not on speaking terms and my husband and I went away and her mom and dad watched the kids a couple days and she made a plan with them to come to our house the whole day and we had no idea. -she lacks basic social skills of getting the hint or reading a room - she and her husband have no friends we have ever heard of or met. -she wants to come over and stay for 8 hours and I have no interest in entertaining and feeding her all day, I already have 3 kids - she married a guy much older and all they do is sit at home and think about how they can be in our life and it’s just weird. My family is not so overbearing we see them when we see them and there’s not all these expectations. I just can’t stand it!
I know she loves my kids but I just feel like she is too much. I like space and also her and her father are very judgmental about everything we do. If we’re late for a family event for example they make comments. I just find my family is much more relaxed and easier to be around.
Any advice lol!!!!!!

So, at the beginning of this week. I asked this girl for her number. It took alot of courage from me, even though I'm mainly was wanting it in a platonic way. As I literally don't know a single person in the state I'm in. But when the time came to ask, I was to nervous to articulate it in a way I wanted. So basically I just asked "I'd like to get to know you better" and surprisingly, she offered me her number. And I kinda just rolled with it. This was at her work btw.
But anyway. I texted her that night. And we had a very short conversation where she didn't really engage much. And then she just stopped replying. I waited about 24 hours before sending her another text where I apologized cause I thought I may have been asking her too much about work. And said I'm not too good with texting. She replied shortly after and said that she was not good at texting either and she sucked at responding. So I was kinda forward and asked if she would want to do something in person sometime. No response.
Then after 2 days I just asked how she was doing. She said she had been better, and that she was sorry for not responding, and that she was going through some personal things with her ex. I told her it was alright and to take her time. And that if she needed someone to talk to, I would be here. No response.
So I thought that may be just the end of it and was going to just leave it alone. But. I had to go into her work today (I have to go in 2 times a week) and if she was there, I was just gonna act like nothing happened. But then she went a bit out of her way to come to me and she apologized again for not responding. And that she was going through alot right now. And I said it was fine again and to just take her time.
But, so now I'm not sure what exactly she thinks my intentions are. I kinda feel she thinks I'm looking for something romantic, and is just keeping me at a distance but not too far until this thing with her ex plays out. I thought that maybe at first. She might not of wanted to give me her number, but felt pressured to in the moment, and her short texts were a way to send me a hint. But then, she went out of her way to apologize to me in person when we didn't have to interact at all. So idk. But honestly, I just want a friend first and foremost, and I don't even know if I'm actually even able to feel romantic attraction anymore in the first place. And so, I'm just looking for a way to tell her that. That I really just want a friend, and don't have any other motives. But also don't want to seem like I'm just being desperate. And don't want to bug her too much. Not sure when the right time would be. Should I wait until I see her again in person and say something to her then. Or should I send a text. And what should I say? My (35F) bf (39M) have been dating since September. We’ve had our share of tumultuous times, far more than I’ve experienced in past relationships. Every time we argue, he ends up going off the deep end with insults, so I told him if he ever says “fuck you” again to me, I will leave. The attached texts are the aftermath of him, once again, telling me “fuck you” after he got upset that I left his bedroom to brush my teeth while he was ranting about AHS NYC ep1 (the pic I sent was from earlier in the night when we were out). He physically shoved me out of his bedroom door when I left that night. I deleted my instagram and facebook when I got home because it’s constantly causing a fight between us, with him questioning followers, etc.
We talked things out and hung out the following weekend, ended up getting in a huge fight after we went out to the bar because he said i wanted to “fuck everyone” and was using him as training wheels. He punched a hole in my bedroom door that night.
I have a 4yo daughter from a previous relationship and I do not want the negative energy around her. He’s never done anything remotely negative when she’s with us, but tonight he started to get mad at me in my kitchen while my daughter was in her bedroom. I told him it was best if he left because I didn’t want anything affecting her. He ended up leaving after multiple attempts of telling me to “set her up” so he could talk to me alone, to which I said no, she wants to be with me, it’s not happening. I’ve received a few mean texts since, but nothing earth shattering.
I should be done, right?
