Can someone give me some perspective?

2025.01.19 03:10 happylilbunbun Can someone give me some perspective?

Hey all,
I am mostly a lurker around here, but without giving away too much info, I just wanted to ask if it’s normal for one person to be solely handling over 100 hearings per month? These hearings are all different types and they are all different cases as well.
This is the second firm I have now worked at and I’m not sure if that’s the norm all around. If it makes any difference, I specifically work at a mortgage foreclosure law firm.
Thanks in advance!!

2025.01.19 03:10 bangpowboomgarbage How to find recruiters for my area…

I feel like this is a dumb question. I follow a lot of recruiters on LinkedIn, specifically for accounting positions and most working at KBW. But they all seem to be for an area that is a big city in the next state over, about an hour and a half from me. So 95% of the jobs they post are fairly far away. I don’t really understand how to find recruiters who handle the jobs in my area.

2025.01.19 03:10 oliverscream About Bit Perfect Playback, is it really necessary? How much audibly does the song suffer

I tried listening to some songs with all differente Bit depths and Sample rates, with Bit perfect vs not, trying to match the volume as much as i can, even listening to the songs on differente streaming services and my observation is that IT DIDN'T SOUND ANY DIFFERENT, maybe the quantization errors from different Bit depth and distortion from different sample rate you can only hear them when playing extremely loud or i don't know.
if those errors are supposedly present, what is the worse escenario:

  1. Device at lower bit depth than the song being streamed
  2. Device at higher bip depth than the song being streamed
  3. Device at lower sample rate than the song being streamed
  4. Device at higher sample rate than the song being streamed

2025.01.19 03:10 VisitPuzzleheaded460 Trip/Fall - An informal poll

Yesterday I was out on a training run, short/slow, on pavement that had some areas where tree roots have raised the asphalt. My shoe caught the top of one of these rises and down went.
Fortunately I came out of it with only abrasions and bruises. I did something similar a year and a half ago on and sloped intersection.
The most cruel part is the minds realization that you are falling and slowing perception down to give you enough time to understand "this is gonna hurt".
I am curious how many of you have taken a tumble?

2025.01.19 03:10 askquestionsacct Looking to build a travel media/router solution

I'm doing a fair bit of traveling this year and I wanted to build myself both a solution for access to media offline on the go, as well as a travel router to do things like connect to public wifi once and have all of my other devices connect automatically (maybe with some VPN through home to boot).
I've been reading lots of examples, even like this one here from a month or so ago, but it seems like everyone does this with two devices - either a small server and a travel router, or a travel router and an external storage device. I cannot believe this can't be done with a single device, and so I want to try. The problem is I have a few different ideas on how to do it, and I need some advice on which one to try first.
First though, I have 3 requirements for the device:

  1. It creates a private wifi network where clients can connect to each other, and upstream connection to the internet can be done through either a wired or wifi connection, and in the case of the wifi connection it should be easy to make this connection through a capture portal.
  2. It hosts a content server that reads data local to the device that works offline which can be accessed by clients on the network of requirement 1 (probably Jellyfin, but open to other options)
  3. Can be plugged into a TV via HDMI to view the local content while offline
That 3rd requirement is the one that I haven't seen much elsewhere and also the one that is causing me the most trouble. Because requirement #1 is to create a local network with clients that can connect to each other I know I could solve this by something like a chromecast or fire stick that connects to the server that is requirement #2, but that violates the challenge to keep this single device. I've also done both a chromecast and OTG to HDMI from my phone in a hotel room before, but it always just ends up being far more fragile than I'd like and I really often just want to plug something in and start watching my own media.
So, getting a mini PC with enough CPU and storage to meet requirement #2 is no problem, so with that as the hardware, here's my thoughts on how to meet all 3 requirements:
I could install proxmox then put something like openwrt in one VM and another for the Jellyfin server, but the problem is my requirement #3. I want something that I can just turn on and plug into HDMI and then a GUI will be present that gives me access to the content server. My very cursory Googling indicated this isn't easy to do in proxmox (it's kind of possible with a discrete GPU, but the iGPU of a mini PC passthrough seems to only really work with transcoding, not display)
A variation of this idea would be to install openWRT on the bare metal, then setup openWRT as a docker container host. This again meets the first two requirements easily, but the 3rd one rears its head again. This one at least feels a little more solvable as X11 servers are a thing, so in theory I could setup a docker container that would display something like a containerized firefox instance or even better would be something like Kodi. Does anyone know if this is actually possible?
The last variation is to install a full desktop OS on the hardware and then either install openWRT as a VM that launches on boot, or even just install some virtual router software to meet requirement #1. While this does feel most viable to meet all my requirements, I have a fear that this is actually going to be painful to meet requirement #1. I feel like requirements #1 and #2 are certainly more important than #3, and requirement #1 is the one that needs to be the most rock solid and shouldn't require fiddling with or restarting frequently.
So any thoughts or advice?
