 | Chorna Mohyla Splendors of the Kyivan Rus hidden in plain sight Tucked beside a large building in the Ukrainian city of Chernihiv is a mysterious grassy hill with a small stone monument on top. Hills are of course not uncommon, but there's something particularly interesting about this one to be sure! Chorna Mohyla ("Black Grave / Kurhan / Barrow / Burial Mound / Tomb") is a large burial mound (one of very many in Ukraine!) that was once 11m tall that spans 125m circumference... and in its time it was surrounded by a deep 7m wide moat (originally this was probably the earth that was dug to create the mound itself). _______________________________ Dating is so Hard Chorna Mohyla in the 19th century. Chorna Mohyla dates from the 10th century, though there is still scholarly debate about the exact decade. At any rate, this makes it one of the earliest and most grand of the Kyivan Rus burials, and its revealed artifacts definitely confirm its chronological place during one of the most fascinating periods of Kyivan Rus development more than 1000 years ago: the time of King Volodymyr Velykyi. Local lore tells you that Chorna Mohyla is the grave of Prince Chornyi, the legendary founder of Chernihiv, which was the second most prosperous city of the Kyivan Rus besides Kyiv itself. And archaeologically, the mound was the resting place of three members of the Kyivan Rus elite, perhaps even two princes; two warriors were found with helmets and chain mail... and one woman with a collection of scythes at her feet. _______________________________ Bling You can't take it with you. But it's always fun to try. Chorna Mohyla certainly holds its share of princely grave goods. The upper portion of the mound betrays evidence of a truly grand funeral banquet, with coins, fine arms and armor and even a cauldron filled with ram bones. And, of course, many swords. Thor statue seems to display a similar range of emotions as Chris Hemsworth Other items include spears and metals that may have been various goods that were melted down in the pyre - along with two truly exquisite drinking horns of the now-extinct aurochs with beautiful silverwork. An aurochs horn with metalwork Detail of the aurochs horn silverwork _______________________________ While some of the artifacts reside in Ukrainian museums, many of the most wondrous artifacts were stolen and brought away to moscow during soviet occupation. They are currently on display for braindead orc visitors in the russian museum full of Ukrainian and other cultures' heritage. Hi, I have reached out to the reddit users for opinions. A bit scared to get judged, but hey, sometimes people giving their raw/ unfiltered opinion could be what you need.
The background is that I grew up in below average income family but blessed with relative good brains and lady's luck, managed to secure a job in this economic climate.
Recently with the year end bonus coming in, I intend to get a luxury watch - a sort of reward to myself turning 30 etc. I did research for months and zeroed in on the one that I wanted. I took care to research on the resale value and noticed that second hand is a better-for-value than brand new. Despite being second-hand, is still 2k SGD, I can afford it and all - had savings and investments. I also psycho-ed myself that it doesn't make financial sense to buy brand new because not all luxury watches hold on to value in the secondary market like Rolex and Omega. I am ok with the common opinion that others may feel that a secondhand watch is not "clean".
Even after I am 90% certain (the remaining 10% call it impulse or whatever) that this purchase will not make a dent on my wallet and also made sure that the place to get is the best price in the market, at the point of checking out, I still lose courage and tell myself to sleep over it, and then go through the purchase checklist questions - (you know those kind like do I really need it? how often I will use it? how much does it cost per use? are you willing to exchange work hours for this product?). I still tell myself that hey this 2k can be a family's monthly expense, really need to think through. Meanwhile, all the rolex/omega entry over at 10k SGD.
Hence, reaching out here to just check in if other people got similar mentality or is it I am just a miser person in general.

 | Hello! I’ve had trouble with getting an even surface on my right nails. My left nails look normal, but polish always come out very uneven and clumpy on my right nails (as shown in the photo). I used Mooncat’s getting even primer before applying the main shade, but it doesn’t seem to help with ridges/unevenness. Does anyone have an idea how I may remedy this?
