I find it absolutely bizarre when people use low recidivism and low deterrence rates as a relevant consideration in designing or implemting criminal punishments in crimes. I'm aware there are statistics that make point of how things like drug and sexual offences having low recidivism rates and of harsh punishments in general having a low deterrent effect but this seems like a stupid argument because
1) such risk assessments are statistical and do not say anything about individual deterrence and recidivism (read about ecological bias)
2) they often don't account for underreporting and under-conviction of such crimes
3) arguments based on low deterrence from harsh punishments and low recidivism seem to trivialise certain crimes and make them seem like when a small non negligible risk of them is worth it. You'd obviously be more careful handling a nuclear plant than a smartphone for example. That's how sexual and drug offences are , what's at stake is much higher so even small risks of them aren't worth taking especially if someone has already offended.
4) sending a message and social catharsis is more important, often times the benefits of rehabilitation are often advocated but those can't repair the harm that was caused to society and victims , what's worse is it could create perverse incentives to make people falsely accused of sex crimes and have them be treated as free labor under the guise of rehabilitation.
In light of these facts. Why should there two factors matter ? Should they even matter ?

Hi. im currently dealing with what I believe to be pocd. Iām 14 and itās been like this since sometime during early 2024. I cant ember when exactly it started because itās been so long but I can list some time stamps as to stuff that mightāve triggered it. the first trigger mightāve been during January. It was a dark period that lasted until sometime after the summer. I was having suicidal ideation but Iām to scared to die & I would never want to do that to my siblings. Anyways I was only like that because I was a hyper sexual kid. I was and still am disgusted by myself & unfortunately it still affects me today. Although this might be irrelevant. The trigger is basically that I was watching videos & i started realizing that the videos were targeted for a specific audience & even if I am a teen I donāt want to think like that. ( it was mainly the anime ones, they people were sounding like kids & it was embarrassing realizing that) :( Iām sorry Next is when I was targeted by an older guy. He was the grandfather to my siblings (step siblings) it was a situation where he tried to make a disgusting move & I was almost willing to take it. I guess sometimes I regret not taking it but I know itās wrong & thatās why I didnt. Anyways after that I guess I started wondering if he had done that to my siblings before. And eventually it just was to the point that I would look at my youngest siblings and be aroused. Itās disgusting & I couldnāt handle it. It just furthered my idealation but I donāt want to die so.. yeah anyways ever since then itās been a struggle, I think it mightāve been the second incident because Iām always thinking about a child being taken advantage of. I canāt look at children with their parents and it hurts. Itās scary, i donāt want people knowing what i think. & that just makes me feel even more like i am one. It sucks because i dont feel arousal Iāll just feel wet down there and I canāt. why wonāt it stop. I thought I found the cause but why wonāt it go away. Help me. please. I just thought Iād share this piece of insight. As you all know, to apply for citizenship you must have lived in Australia for 4 years, and not been away for more than 12 months in the last 4 years (plus meet other criteria which arenāt relevant here).
So the question is, after you live here for 3 years, could you just apply and count the time before you started residing in Australia, as part of the 12 months?
As long as you have been in Australia sometime before the start of the 4 year period, the answer is YES!
For example:
Suppose you moved to Australia on 1 Jan 2022 and resided here without leaving. By 1 Jan 2025, you have been here for 3 years.
If 1 Jan 2022 was your first entry into Australia, then you need to wait until 1 Jan 2026 in order to meet the 4 year requirement. If it has been less than 4 years since you first set foot in Australia, then you havenāt been āpresentā here for 4 years, no matter how expansively the law is interpreted.
However, suppose youāve been to Australia in the past, even just for a holiday. Then the 4 year presence requirement actually started counting from the day of that first entry.
Maybe you came for a few days in 2019. After departing Australia, that time you spent overseas can be counted as part of the 12 month absence in the last 4 years. So upon returning to Australia, youāre able to apply for citizenship after being here for 3 years (1095 days), as long as these days are within the last 4 years before you submit your application.
I know weāre all very impatient to get our citizenship, so hopefully this might be of help to some people.

Additionally, I am interested in establishing a banking record with a traditional bank, as I believe this could be beneficial for future transactions, such as loan applications. Hi, I'm trying to get into shooting with film, I've previously used fuji disposables but I've recently picked up a film slr for cheap and want to try it. I love how the fuji dispoables have sort of a green tint, especially on the shadowy areas. I've read that this film used is fujifilm x-tra superia 400 which is unavailable anymore and i've seen that the new fujifilm 400 doesn't have this look anymore. Is there any other modern film thats easily available with this color pallette? thanks!

I tried to go return my drone seven days later after buying it because it is not the correct item I bought in the box of the DJI 4 Pro there was a DJI mini 3 I didnāt notice until a few days after flying because they looked the exact same. Only a few upgrades on the 4 so I tried to return to Costco today so I can purchase the same thing and hopefully get the correct item this time but they are refusing to let me return because itās not the correct drone that is supposed to be in the box, I explained to them the whole situation and they still refuse to accept the return. In this case, what can I do? Also when I look up the serial number of the DJI mini four pro that I purchased the serial number on DJI website says it is not activated yet as in it hasnāt been bought and set up yet someone please tell me you know a way around this or somehow I can just get the drone that Iāve wanted to purchase in the first place thank you in advance
