I’ve posted before here about discovering what I believed to be an emotional affair that my wife was having. We’ve been in a dead bedroom for almost 3 years now. I finally figured out why. So I finally got to see the full chat history with this guy. It goes back to before we were married. I’m pretty sure he’s just a friend and they would never do anything physical, but seeing her openly talk shit about me, divulge personal details of our sex life, talk about how much she hates me, and does so in an arrogant way like it’s a game or a joke. Definitely feeling very deflated. She would rather confide in another man than talk to me about issues we are facing. I get nothing but contempt, anger, and disrespect. Now I know why none of my efforts to connect over the last couple years didn’t go over well. She was busy building resentment. She mentioned to him that she’s ready to leave and it’s like bitch you haven’t even come to me in a legitimate attempt to connect or communicate in almost 3 years while I’ve been ostracized and made to feel so alone here. I’m just in complete shock as this is so fresh, but I feel that this confirms that nagging feeling I’ve been having lately that this marriage is over. She talked all this shit, but refuses to seek treatment for her own issues or to work on our marriage. She literally told him that she doesn’t want to. I’ve finally gotten out of my own head to start getting myself help. I think I’m done with relationships period. I just have to start planning on how to handle this and move on without completely fucking my children’s lives up. Sorry to ramble on, but I literally just got done reading the years long conversation and am still fired up. I don’t know what I want from this post really though. Thank you for listening to my predicament.

I quit caffeine a few days before Christmas - got really drunk on New Year’s Eve but haven’t drunk since. I honestly hated it on NYE, and the next day was really rough without a crutch. However also imagining that my current state is going to be my state for the rest of my life… I don’t quite know how I feel about that. Are any of you guys raw dogging life or has caffeine changed your relation with alcohol in any significant way??

I went online because I was going to print my husband’s tax stuff out for our student loans and mohela is saying he doesn’t have an account. This is the correct mohela/studentaid website because I have it bookmarked for when I go on it and has worked before. I then went to studentaid.gov and got the alert that says “you currently don’t have any federal loans or grant”.
Has anyone had issues with both mohela and studentaid.gov being messed up?
He still has 3 years before forgiveness so it’s not like he’s close and something happened with that.

2025.01.19 06:10 Reeromu I really dislike the Sanzen paper. 😞

I didn’t receive a book from a faulty batch, and the ink isn’t bleeding through my pages—I just don’t like it. As a fountain pen user, the writing experience is completely different. The Sanzen paper feels much rougher and more textured, and my pens don’t glide across the surface the way they used to. My extra fine Decimo even catches on this paper, making writing feel unpleasant. My handwriting looks worse, and brush lettering is much harder. Honestly, it shouldn’t even be called “Tomoe River” because it’s an entirely different paper.
Is there any Tomoegawa paper left? What paper is being used in the Hobo plain notebooks?

Since the change in hours for acumulation in flexible pto and standard pto, there's been a bunch of complaints on VOA. Most of the installments in our facility said it was just the name change and didn't mention about the hours. Only in the amazon a to z, they had a link to the changes in hours and cap. Some people asked about the pto cap right after peak and there wasn't much compIaining not until the new changes today. I already knew about the changes since I did my own research to see info about the new cap for flexible PTO. It was kind of difficult to find info about my particular state since I had to go through different links to get the correct info. The amazon a to z app doesn't make it easy to find the info even if you try to search on it. Comments on VOA been calling out leadership for not clearly communicating the info. Seems like many people were surprised by the changes. The main complaint is the decreased rate of hours per pay period.

2025.01.19 06:10 ththeoryofeverything Why are low deterrence and low recidivism relevant considerations when designing criminal laws for serious offences ?

I find it absolutely bizarre when people use low recidivism and low deterrence rates as a relevant consideration in designing or implemting criminal punishments in crimes. I'm aware there are statistics that make point of how things like drug and sexual offences having low recidivism rates and of harsh punishments in general having a low deterrent effect but this seems like a stupid argument because
1) such risk assessments are statistical and do not say anything about individual deterrence and recidivism (read about ecological bias)
2) they often don't account for underreporting and under-conviction of such crimes
3) arguments based on low deterrence from harsh punishments and low recidivism seem to trivialise certain crimes and make them seem like when a small non negligible risk of them is worth it. You'd obviously be more careful handling a nuclear plant than a smartphone for example. That's how sexual and drug offences are , what's at stake is much higher so even small risks of them aren't worth taking especially if someone has already offended.
4) sending a message and social catharsis is more important, often times the benefits of rehabilitation are often advocated but those can't repair the harm that was caused to society and victims , what's worse is it could create perverse incentives to make people falsely accused of sex crimes and have them be treated as free labor under the guise of rehabilitation.
In light of these facts. Why should there two factors matter ? Should they even matter ?
