The TikTok ban is one of the biggest attacks on free speech I have seen in my lifetime. The government should not be able to dictate how you get your news, period. It's your right to read, view, and speak what you want, even advocating for the overthrow of the government, that's why we have the first amendment. It is one of the few issues that has me considering voting R over D even though I voted straight D last election. Our right to free speech protects all our other rights, this is an incredibly dangerous precedent and the democrats taking an absolute L for no reason. And it won't help them get the youth vote they so desperately need to win elections.
Banning TikTok isn't fighting China, it's becoming China. It's using the same "foreign interference" and "protect the children" line used by despots globally from Xi to Putin as they ban newspapers, websites, and anybody critical of their regime. "But China does it" isn't the great defense people seem to think it is, we don't want to do the same things China does.
We can lose our right to abortion or privacy and use free speech to get it back. If we lose our right to free speech, there's no other right that works the same except possibly the second amendment. The road to tyranny is paved by the loss of individual liberties.
The last thing I want is for the incoming administration to have a nice, legal pathway to clamp down on speech which is critical of them, and platforms which allow that speech. And now the carpet has been rolled out for them.

I’m just looking for support really. In 2 weeks I’m having Gastrocnemius recession surgery and PF release revision from 2018
Background: 38F men’s hairstylist. I started having pain about 4 years into my career and tried all of the things Cortisone shots, different shoes, inserts. Nothing helped in both feet so I scheduled one foot a time for the PF release. 2 weeks before I ended up tearing the PF on my left foot but went on to have it on my right. The mistake was made when I went back to working on my feet 3 days later with a boot on one foot and a surgery shoe on the other 🤷🏻‍♀️ gotta make money somehow.
First podiatrist said he couldn’t do anymore for me and then I saw 2 more over the course of a couple years. None of them could really help besides telling me to stop doing what I love for work. So I did for 4 years and worked in banking. I still stood for hours. So here I am 7 years later trying to get it fixed still. I have made a ton of lifestyle changes between 2019 and now including losing 90lbs (slowly over those years) and I thought that was really going to be the most help but it wasn’t. Here I am 5’4 130lbs and still in feet pain
I hope this will give me some sort of relief. If you read this far thank you! And if someone has had specificity the Gastrocnemius recession surgery let me know how it was! I’ll be off work for 12 weeks and not allowed to put weight on it for 4 weeks

So I kinda got caught in the cross fire of tiktoks ban becaouse I tried to trick tiktok into thinking my friends account was European if I was logged into it, me and my friends thought we were being smart, but when the ban hit, I was kicked off the app and I wasn't even able to switch to my main accounts, and there's one comic I wanted to be able to finish, it's about Sprout and Cosmo, mostly Sprout being worried about Cosmo becaouse he had gone on a solo run without telling Sprout, and becaouse of that Cosmo we see in the comic he was becoming twisted, the last I read before I got kicked for trying to outsmart tiktok was that Sprout left tto try find Cosmo and bring him back to everyone, but Dandy is telling him otherwise from his little shop while Sprout has supplies in a bag, I don't think it's a ship comic becaouse in this comic Sprout's character is actually spot on to the game one and not the Fandom version where his personality is changed and mischaracterized, they were posting parts of the comic at some point twice in a day, to then once a day becaouse people told the artist to take breaks since everyone noticed how often they posted bits of the comic, if anyone know who I'm talking about and know they got other socials, please tell me, I really want to be able to see it till the end, if they're on reddit that's even better for me since I can then check up with their comic here, I'm not sure what tag to give for this, so if it's wrong please correct me!

2025.01.19 08:30 BjordFjorn AIO Gamer roommate keeps the whole house awake all night

My roommate games non stop usually until around 7:00am and shouts at his computer the entire time. He wears noise cancelling in-ear earbuds so he has no idea how loud he is (beyond the numerous times myself or our other roommate have had to get out of bed to tell him to stfu). On top of that, he sleeps all day. His alarm will go off around 3 and will stay on for over an hour. Everyone else in the house can hear it but he only shuts it off when he receives his daily wake-up call from his mom (he’s 23 btw 🤦‍♂️). He’s a decent guy other than that but even after talking to him about the problem several times he will not change anything. I love playing video games as much as the next guy but I’ve never understood the constant need to yell at the top of his lungs. Not to mention the sleep myself and our other roommate lose over it and we have college/work to go to. Am I overreacting? If not, what can I do about this?
