Hey everyone,
I've seen a few posts recently about framing autism as a disability and wanted to share this for people who haven't come across this idea before.
I would argue that autism is definitely a disability, however I think a lot of people, and rightly in mind, react badly to the idea. For me this comes from disability being traditionally defined as something is "wrong" with the person. For a group of people that have often been treated as "weirdos" and having to deal with exclusion, I think this really hits a nerve.
Take for instance, the double empathy problem. It is so often put within the context that the way of dealing with this is teaching the autistic person how to understand, and show, empathy in a way that nerotypical people understand. I'm not about to start arguing that this isn't important, I think is is important however to add, there should be an expectation that the nerotypical person also learns how autistic people experience empathy.
I think this way of looking at disability, so social disability, acknowledges the problems that autism brings, but at the same time allows for the feeling that there is nothing intrinsically wrong with autistic people.
It puts the onus on society to take more care of people who don't fit the norm. In the current environment it seems to me like there is a feeling that disabled people, of all types, are asking for something extra that has to be tolerated. It dehumanises people by putting them on the outside, trying to get in, as opposed to valuable humans who are intrinsically part of the community. So it would be as natural to take barriers away as building a door in a wall to allow people in.
My opinion on this is that by looking at it through a medical lens, it treats autism like a disease, which I think a lot of autistic people have internalised, which I think is really sad.
Just some points for discussion, so obviously I'd be interested in hearing what other people think on this.

Some stuff like Dona and Harvey, Loius’s love life etc are not done, but they dont have to be.
I felt pretty good with the season finale - I know whats happening next so probably this will be my canon.

I have used Kindle for years, but the 12th gen has literally disappointed and annoyed me so much that I don’t even want to pick up my e-reader anymore.
I had an 11th gen paperwhite, I had been in a slump for a little when 12th gen was announced and my husband offered to get me one as an early xmas gift. I really wanted the colorsoft, just bc having color seemed so nice and made it feel more “complete” I guess?? idk im weird.
so he ordered it, it was more yellow than a fucking minion. got a replacement from Amazon (after being told something different by every.single.rep, and after they struggled to get me a return label). it was way less yellow but still very noticeable and it bugged me.
I really wanted a colorsoft, so I asked for a third return and they refused even though others were on like their 4th at that point and I never return ANYTHING bc im lazy. The rep told me to try a paperwhite instead.
I thought, ok sure, tried and true, I can live without color. Get my CS refund after like 2 weeks the paperwhite. My dumbass didn’t know that the pw had issues too, so I sold my 11th gen . Dumbest mistake EVER.
12th gen pw came and it is only very slightly yellow, but my eyes are sensitive and it bugs the shit out of me. I ordered a replacement and…it was way more yellow. Because that’s my life. The replacement took almost two weeks to arrive.
I returned the replacement, and took some advice of a FB to try to get used it. I did a little, but the yellow is just bugging me too much. Now I do want to clarify, it isn’t the yellow tinge itself, but the screen is NOT UNIFORM and that is what is bugging my eyes out.
Now im like a day outside my return window and I am just so annoyed. It is making me not want to read.
But at this point, people on eBay damn near charge the same as PW12 for PW11, so I’d be losing (more) money. I thought about trying another e-reader but I have never used anything but kindle.
Why in the hell they thought it was okay to launch this is beyond me. What do I do?

Years goes by , he says that I am uninspiring , controlling , his way or no way , silent treatment . The time has come where he needs to move again and this time back to his own country. He left 6 months ago and I was supposed to join him . I have a job here and during these 6 months that he was away , I felt free . The thought of going to his country and without a job as I do not speak the language , makes me insecure. I communicate with him , asking for his understanding and patience. He say I am not longer welcome and ghosted me ever since . It’s been 3 weeks of no contact and I am breaking everyday . I miss him so much . I consulted a counsellor and she quote that my husband is a narcissist. I google the traits and was shocked as it was what I have been suffering all these years . But still , my love for him remains the same …. I don’t have much friends . He was my entire world ….
