The leaves are thinner, and lighter in color. The branches are bendy. The height is almost the same. The red arrow is the original branch. Am I doing something wrong or should I change anything? Currently, she is having succulent soil mix, twice a month watering, and an 8+ hours of indirect sunlight (like in the shade, 3 meter away from an absolute hell fire of thailand). Hey everyone! I’ve been lurking here for a while, and one thing I see pop up a lot is people worrying about dead pixels, dim screens, and the overall whiteness of their reMarkable 2 or rMPP. Since this is such a common topic, I decided to create a post collecting all the useful info and a free screen inspector tool to help find out if your screen has problems!
What is the screen inspector? It’s a simple PDF with 6 different screen tests that you can load onto your reMarkable to run:
- Full Black Test: Check for dead pixels or uneven lighting on a completely black screen.
- Full White Test: Spot any discoloration or uneven brightness on a blank white screen.
- Color Tests: Test with solid red, green, and blue pages to catch color-specific issues.
- Gradients Test: Inspect how your screen handles smooth transitions in brightness or shading (some harshness is default)
- Checkerboard Test: Look for contrast and sharpness inconsistencies.
- Fine Line Tests: Check for ghosting, sharpness, and pixel alignment using thin, detailed lines.

- Flip through the pages (on rMPP with the backlight on) and inspect your screen for anything weird.
Why did I make this? I’ve been following discussions about screen issues on the rM2 and rMPP, and it’s clear these are real concerns for many users:
- Dead Pixels: Some people get devices with 5-10 dead pixels, which is... not ideal.
- Brightness: The rMPP’s screen maxes out at ~4 nits, which is dimmer than most e-ink devices. It works for some, but others find it hard to use in moderate lighting.
- Whiteness: Compared to the older rM2 or even a Kindle, the rMPP screen can look grayish. Depending on your preferences, it might not feel “paper-like” enough.
For anyone dealing with screen issues
- Dead Pixels: If you spot any, reach out to reMarkable support. They’ve been known to replace devices with bad screens.
- Brightness: Some users have found a way to boost brightness in dev mode (warning: it voids your warranty). If you’re curious, check the guides here on Reddit.
- Whiteness: Lighting can make a big difference. Try your device in natural daylight—it might look better than you think!

So, I was cleaning my room earlier and saw my wallet, then noticed the drawing I did of the guy from awhile back. So karon, I thought, why not share the story behind that drawing?
So this happened last October when I was in Cebu for my studies. Grabe, I was honestly at one of the lowest points in my life. I was so down nga lowkey thinking, “What if mag-coma lang ko for a while, para maka-escape sa tanan?” Pero syempre, not to die, ha, just to take a break from life. My life was a total mess back then, like to the point nga wala na koy labot if maligsan ko or what.
Then, I met this guy. Somewhere in Cebu, and swear, it was such a random, one-time thing. Pero somehow, that encounter saved me. I don’t even know his name or anything personal about him like super total stranger vibes jud. But the few hours we spent together? First time in so long nga I actually felt alive. It felt so light, like murag nakakita kog katapat, and it felt like I was talking to myself, pero lalaki version.
I loved the way he talked—like ang gaan lang sa energy niya. His humor? On point. And grabe, his character was so interesting to me. He had this charisma nga I can’t even put into words. Basta, he was one of the most fascinating people I’ve ever met (OA kaayo no, pero na intrigue jud ko sa iyaha). He always seemed so happy, and that kind of energy really stuck with me. After that encounter, I felt like I came back to life. And since that day, I can’t forget him. If I ever have negative thoughts, I just think of him and remind myself, "Sya gani, happy lang always,dapat ako pud."
Now, every time I’m out in public, I scan faces, hoping—maybe just maybe—I'll see someone who looks like him, so I can remember that day we met. Honestly though, I don’t even remember his exact features anymore, except for his cute face (mura syag tomboy looking sad, wala lang nako gi ingon sa iyaha kay I know he gets that alot no need na iingon hehe) and what he was wearing—a grey sweater, dark pants, shoes, eyeglasses, and a cap. And yes, I know, my drawing doesn’t really resemble him 100% mas pogi version guro akong drawing kay syempre gi romanticize nako to na moment. A few weeks after we met, he stopped replying. So di na sad ko magpapansin ih abi palang marupok ang ate ninyo. Kung kinsa man ka sis thank you so much jud, wala ko kabalo asa ko karon kung wala guro ko nimo napakatawa ato na gabie. Thank You.
