I F19 wanting to get my next tattoo In hebrew
I F19 am a devote christian, and i was looking at the possibility of a new tattoo. all my previous tattoos are biblical or about my faith. this post is not to discuss the “christian’s not being allowed to have tattoos debate”. The tattoo i wanted to get was ‘don’t be afraid’. and the reason i wanted it in hebrew was because it was written in the original bible 365 times. This cultivates the whole meaning to not be afraid every day. when written in the now translated bible i believe it’s only written 55 times. hence why i was leaning towards it being in Hebrew.
A few months ago I moved to uni and became best-friends with two Palestinian women. These are extremely politically strong women. They are extremely vocal and strong about the issues happening currently. We often don’t discuss politics only due to the fact that if often ends in us being lectured. Personally, i’m putting my self out there to be judged so i’ll lay myself out. I am political but I don’t have extreme stances in certain areas of politics due to possible miseducation. especially when it’s hard to receive an unbiased opinion from friends or media. so i listen and i ask questions and offer my casual stances in order to gain information. These girls are the ultimate opposite and are very my way or the highway in terms of politics.
when i brought up my reasons and ideas for the tattoo this lead to absolutely uproar. their were comments that i would be ‘perceived as a zionist’ and that i should ‘blame Israel for taking away that language’ and that is the ‘language of the oppressors’. Any possible argument i raised to even play devils advocate was immediately shut down. They were having NONE of it. They said they would not continue our friendship if i got this tattoo.
