It has been a great rig the whole time but I feel like it might finally be getting to the point where the motherboard and the processor, in particular, need upgrading. I've done some other incremental upgrades along the way (there's more RAM, I added another SSD, and I have a 3080 in it now instead of the 1070) but largely the components are the same as what is listed here.
However, I've never like... upgraded a system like this. I've always just built a new computer when it finally got to the point that the motherboard and processor were the limiting factors. Is there anything I should be aware of, things I'll need to do? Like, I can't just swap out the motherboard and processor and then slap all the current drives/components on the new board and hit power and have everything just start and run, right?
So I guess my question is twofold--first, what are the concerns/processes by which I should go about performing the upgrades, and second, what are some good suggestions for upgrades to make to this machine?
