A significant portion of PoE 2’s success comes from players who have never touched PoE 1 before. PoE 2’s streamlined systems, modern visuals, and more accessible early-game experience are undoubtedly appealing to newcomers. For many of these players, PoE 2 is their first exposure to the Path of Exile franchise. But here’s the kicker: a growing number of these new players are now checking out PoE 1 after getting their feet wet in PoE 2.
This isn’t speculation; I’ve seen plenty of posts and comments in the community saying things like, “I tried PoE 2 and decided to give PoE 1 a shot—it’s way deeper and more polished!” These players are discovering the magic of PoE 1 only after being introduced to the franchise through its sequel.
Why This Matters GGG appears to be going all-in on PoE 2, allocating nearly 100% of their development power and resources to it. While that might seem logical given its initial success, this approach overlooks a crucial reality: PoE 1 remains the core of the franchise, and for many players, it offers a smoother, more polished, and ultimately richer experience.
PoE 2 is a solid game, but it lacks the years of iteration, depth, and balance that make PoE 1 shine. The current influx of new players won’t stick around if PoE 1 is neglected—because as they explore PoE 1, they’re finding a more rewarding and engaging game that PoE 2 simply hasn’t had the time to match yet.
GGG, Here’s What You Need to Do
- Don’t Interpret PoE 2’s Success as a Signal to Abandon PoE 1. The numbers are driven in large part by franchise newcomers. Many of these players are using PoE 2 as a gateway and moving to PoE 1 for a deeper dive. If PoE 1 stagnates, you risk losing those players altogether.
- Continue Actively Developing PoE 1. PoE 1 is at its core a better, more polished experience. It has a dedicated player base and now an influx of curious newcomers who are exploring its systems and depth. Letting it wither while focusing solely on PoE 2 would be a mistake.
- Leverage the Synergy Between the Two Games. Instead of framing PoE 2 as a replacement, treat it as a complementary experience that introduces players to the franchise. Use PoE 2’s accessibility to funnel players toward PoE 1’s richer content, but only if PoE 1 continues to receive meaningful updates.
Neglecting PoE 1 would be a massive misstep, and I hope GGG sees the bigger picture here.

So I read up a little on some of Trump's plans for executive orders on "his first day" in office. I'm wondering if every person who has a child after that goes through would have to do an extra step in order to make their children citizens. The 14th amendment says that anyone born here is a citizen so when Trump repeals it, what does that mean for pregnant people who have a long line of ancestry here in the US?
I just wonder because it seems like a broad order and there could be legal issues behind just trying to deport people that are here illegally.
Just btw, I'm NOT trying to debate whether or not this is a good thing to do. I'm just wondering if they need to add a clause to the executive order that protects people whose families have lived here for generations. ANDDDD I am not using USA today as a legit source. It's just an article that summarizes what Trump is planning to do haha
