2025.01.19 19:50 techypplperson Just transitioned from A7R3 to R5
 | New (to me) gear! I went from Nikon dSLRs 6-7 years ago to Sony mirrorless and now Canon after trying the R5 in my hands. Firstly, my pinky now finally has a good place to sit after all the years of hanging in the wild. Secondly, I heard Tamron and Sigma got the green light to start producing RF- lenses, so affordability will become better. While waiting for those third party lenses, I got my hands on some secondhand EF glass as well as my new favorite: Samyang 85/1.4 RF. The Bokeh is insane. I guess the first to be changed out is the telezoom, I would love to get my hands on a secondhand 600/4 EF at some point. Basically as the title states, some philosophers believe that even though we are surrounded by others, deep down, our internal experience is to feel alone and be in solitude within our subjective experience of the world.
Examples are Jean-Paul Sartre saying that "Hell is other people" in No Exit and Thomas Wolfe saying that "Loneliness is and always has been the central and inevitable experience of every man." Albert Camus and Martin Heidegger also have expressed similar ideas I believe.
I'm just curious to know what people think, if they agree, disagree, and why?

Hello, apologies if this isn't the right place to ask this question!
I'm in a bit of a dilemma with my current vehicle. I own a 2019 Mercedes GLC outright but do a hefty amount of miles (80K mileage now, purchased with 20K on the clock in 2022).
According to a car dealership, I'd get around £15K for my vehicle (taking this with a pinch of salt!), and have been toying with the idea of getting a newer (22/23 plate) car with very low miles. I only want to put in around £5K cash, so the cars I'm looking at aren't as 'luxury' as my Mercedes, which I'm fine with - however I'm conscious I'll have to dip into my savings to purchase anything (I don't want a monthly payment at the mo).
My question is - would you keep a 'nicer' (entirely subjective!) car, which has been very reliable and I enjoy driving, but will eventually hit 100K miles on the clock and have very little trade-in value - or, would you trade in for something fairly new, with low mileage, but incurring a cost of £5K upfront?
I do love my car (and it's been nice and reliable with minimal issues), but I'm nervous that soon it'll be worth buttons due to the mileage - so if it does become costly to repair, I'll have missed the boat to trade in whilst it has a bit of value to it. If it makes any difference, we're hoping to have a baby in the next year or so, so my income would decrease quite a bit on maternity.

This cutout was to repair a water leak. In the corner against the door my plan was to slide the 77x38 single repair sheet flush to the stud underneath the drywall next to the door jam and tape the corner. Is this right approach? This is my first attempt of a repair this size, but it seems pretty straight forward. I’ll hang and tape the drywall but might hire a finisher since it’s an inside entry wall. Thoughts?

I've been trying to find an out-of-print sheet music book for piano arrangements of vocaloid music that was published by Yamaha in Japan, but it's seemingly impossible to get in the UK! It's called ガチ弾き！ ボカロBEST. I could pay an obscene amount of postage and get it from Amazon JP or Rakuten, but that's not ideal, and the only score I really wanted was the Cantarella arrangement by Murakami Yuki. If anyone knows where to get a PDF, or has this book, could you let me know? Thanks in advance!

2025.01.19 19:50 fuckspezspaz [Technique] Is my FAE procedure sufficient for my cakes in the fruiting chamber?
I have a big IKEA tub in which I keep my tubs and cakes, I've inserted a humidity and temp probe and a repurposed computer fan that I rewired to work with USB.
Several times a day (3-4) I crack the lid open and let the fan run for 10 minutes and then latch the lids close again.
I have also purchased 2x2 inch HEPA (genuine? not sure) filters for some car product that I plan to attach on my tub for FAE when I turn the fan on for those 10 minutes.

Sziasztok! Láttam, hogy fityma téma volt már. A huzogatással kapcsolatban nincs is kérdésem, én azon a véleményen vagyok hogy ameddig engedi a bőr addig húzom, nem erőltetem. Viszont olyan problémám van, hogy a 2 éves kisfiam nem engedi hogy hozzányúljunk. Nem fáj neki, nem piszkálja amúgy, nincs semmi rendellenesség. Egyszerűen elnevetgéli, odanyúl, felhúzza a lábát stb. én meg frászt kapok hogy véletlenül túlhúzom. Ha az apja megpróbálja elterelni a figyelmét akkor is pár másodperc és odanyúl. Van/volt még valaki hasonló helyzetben? Valami jó tanács?

Do you ever find yourself “doing” and not progressing? You’re not alone. I’ve been there too — stuck in the endless cycle of preparation without action.

- Dieting: Reading about healthy recipes (doing) vs. cooking one (progressing).
- Business: Networking with leads (doing) vs. closing a deal (progressing).
So many of us fall into the trap of doing as it protects us from failure — there’s no risk of rejection or looking foolish when just planning.
Doing gives you the illusion of productivity. As long as you’re preparing, you’re not risking mistakes.
Here’s some advice on how to start progressing: Try these proven strategies:
1. Consistency Beats Perfection:
Stop waiting for the “perfect” moment or idea. A small, clumsy step forward is better almost every time.
- Publish the draft article, even if it’s not flawless.
- Hit the gym, even if you don’t have don’t have the perfect workout plan.
- “Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good.”
Make your goal public. Share it with a friend, post it online, or shout it from the rooftops! Saying it makes it real, and accountability works wonders for pushing you into action.
- Announce your book release date.
- Tell your friends about your fitness goal.
