One thing I've noticed about all the avoidants that have been in my life - regardless of the nature of our relationship - is that they seem weird about the concept of time. For example, they might not initiate contact over a period much longer than most people would probably consider acceptable in terms of maintaining relationships with people, but when you spend time with them they seem very mindful of the passage of time to the point where you feel like they're merely tolerating your presence (even though the plans that end up working out are only ever ones they initiate in the first place).
With one former friend it always seemed like they were worried about their "routine" being disrupted. One time they basically kicked me out of their house unceremoniously because they just decided they were done hanging out and couldn't tolerate me being there a moment longer.
Another friend would make it very clear when they were done with [insert any given social situation] and they would often disappear from social situations for long periods of time (which always struck me as a bit narcissistic since it would always result in them being the center of attention due to people questioning their absence). One time they invited me to a small gathering at someone's house and literally just like...hid in the bathroom for 40 minutes. Another time they said they were going on a beer run and returned literally hours later. In their case they'd sometimes come back with a tall tale as to why they took longer than they said they would or why they didn't show up all together. Always reasons/situations that were over the top.
It feels like when they're not actively engaging with you, or you're in between instances of seeing them in person, they almost perceive the passage of time as...slower? Like they don't get/care that weeks or months have passed. But when you're together it's like they're very aware to the point of basically being rude when ending a get together - as in, they are done, and you need to leave right now, and why are you still here? (They don't say that, but that's very much the vibe).
All of them always had a hard stop on getting together, too - sometimes to the point that they'd literally be leaving town/the country. Like you knew they were intentionally limiting time together before you even met up with them.
And of course they don't respect your time, but that's a given.
Basically it felt like time didn't matter at all when apart, but when together in person it seemed like the most important thing in the world - and god forbid they spend too much of it with you!

Lee was the author that got me back into reading in 99 after hearing an interview with him on radio statio bbc radio 5 live and after hearing speak about reacher the character intrigued me so I went out that day and bought killing flooor and was hooked, finished the book in 3 days and the following weekend went out and got the next 3 books in the series and every one since the last book I bought was 61 hours, which leads me to my question:
With Andrew coming onboard and the writing and story quality suffering badly and Lee seemingly not caring, would I be able to stop at blue moon or do I have to continue with the godawful writing that Andrew has given us?.

Looking for generalized thoughts here. I know things are dependent on my practice, geography, competition, etc.
Just started my own labor and employment shop. Litigation and advice-and-counseling. Traditionally always represented employers but looking to expand to employee-side too.
I've got some cash put away but most of that is for personal living expenses so I don't have a ton for marketing. Most of my basic startup costs are already handled. Has anyone had good experiences taking out a loan for marketing your shop? I know not to pay lead gen companies so I would really be looking to spend on Google/FB/etc. ad campaigns and SEO optimization of my site. I'm of course doing all the networking stuff and loading my calendar with that, but I don't want to hope and pray referrals come in.
Also, I know a firm can thrive without marketing costs, but that's not my question. I'm wondering if folks have seen good returns on borrowing capital. Just to use made-up numbers--borrowing 50k for a return of 300k would obviously be worth it.
