2025.01.19 23:16 Beginning-Coconut465 Rescue cat

Yesterday I rescued a cat from our local shelter. She’s been in a shelter since 2023. Her medical records say she’s been avoidant of humans/ scared (hissing, growling, nipping) since intake but all say she allowed exams. She bit my mom when she tried to pet her but only smelled my finger and didn’t really let me go any further than that. She finally came out of the carrier and ran under my bed. I put food and water under there and a toy. It’s been 24 hours and she is still under there it didn’t look like she touched her food or used the litter box in my room. I gave her fresh food and new meds in there (gabapentin as reccomended by vet until she’s settled). I’m just lying on the floor where she can she see me and leaving her be but I could use all the advice anyone may have on how to help her settle down and the timeline and when I should worry.

Anyone else get amused by typos/mistakes in their stories? I just finished one where soo many words were the wrong one for example post-modem instead of post-mortem. I give props to all the wonderful writers providing me with awesome fanfic especially the authors who aren't native English speakers. So, I just appreciate the story and don't get hung up on the writing or grammar. But, this story just now. I just had to laugh and post about it. Instead of Death Eaters, it's Death Easters. Now I'm imagining Lucius, Dolohov, Bellatrix, et al in pastel rabbit suits!

2025.01.19 23:16 Adventurous_Top_4033 Well It's been almost a year since season 2 of the now cancelled Paramount Halo show came out and my biggest problem is that they made the UNSC the main villains.

I still don't understand why the show made the United Nations Space Command the main villains instead of the Covenant who are reduced to a side plot. I mean the canon UNSC are definitely not pure good. They have done many morally wrong things like the destruction of Far Isle. Then theres the Office of Navel Intelligence who are actually kind of evil, who have done many terrible things like using child soldiers for the Spartan II and III programs. But the insurrectionists are not heroes. The have committed many terrorist acts like nuking a city, bowing up civilian ships, using human shields and using children as suicide bombers. I don't see why they made the United Earth Government a cartoonishly evil fascist dictatorship who has slave colonies, wiped out Master Chief's home planet to cover up his kidnapping and sent an entire platoon of marines and a team of Spartans to kill a teenage girl. Meanwhile the insurrectionists are brave and heroic freedom fighters who still use 500 year old weapons for some reason. Like Instead of Master Chief fighting the covenant, they made the show into a YA dystopian series with Kwan Ha a chosen one who's fighting a cartoonishly evil dictatorship. I mean I watched the show with a friend who never played the games and he thought that Season 2 would be about the Covenant saving humans from the UEG. Even in Season 2 when the writers finally got it through their skulls that the covenant were the bad guy they still made it seem like the UNSC was somehow responsible for the war too, like by ransacking a Covenant holy site or holding a leader hostage or something like that. Why did the show make the UNSC the main bad guys?

FTM to a 6 day old. Our LO poops a lot. Like 3 times in 20 minutes a lot. No other symptoms, no gas, no vomitting spit up or anything else.
Is this common NB behavior or could it be the formula? He has a diaper rash that we can’t get ahead of cause he’s pooping constantly and I feel bad cause his little bum is all red and hates getting changed.

Can somebody please explain to me how the fuck I can just watch the main feed of a golf tournament as a Canadian. I have been subscribed to TSN+ for two years now and not a single time this season, and for most of last season have I been able to watch the leaders of an event.
Every single feed is either full of featured groups or featured holes. Even when the description of a TSN feed says “Main Feed” it exclusively shows somebody who is 10 shots back T29. It makes no fucking sense and makes me unreasonably angry. I’ve just resorted to illegally streaming events at this point. I just want to pay somebody so I can watch a golf event. This makes no fucking sense.

I think it would add another level of strategy and probably raise the overall level of play in online career if stats were shown for your opponent before a match. IOW, during that loading screen that shows the two fighters posing, show stats for each player that will give an idea of play style, strengths and weaknesses.
Example, asswhipper69, who I’m about to face, wins 31% by KO, 49% by submission, and 20% by decision. His losses are 72% by KO, 7% by submission, and 11% by decision. He spends 20% more time than average in the clinch and 70% more time than average on the ground. His favorite 3 combos are jab-straight-lead hook, jab-straight-body roundhouse, and lead hook-straight.
And, show the actual fighter’s best moves and maybe their overall rating in standup, grappling, and health.
Stuff like that would tell you at a glance what kind of fighter you’re facing and at bare minimum is what information any UFC fighter would have about an upcoming opponent.
Not to mention, it’d be a self-scouting tool and “red flag” a lot of spamming and cheesing.
