I would say that this particular grammar mistake is made by people of all races and is seen in much wider regions than "the South". Bob Dylan ("She's an artist, she don't look back") was a Jewish kid from Minnesota. But I agree it's non-standard English. – Most of the "she" style labels I hear are half terms of endearment and half self mockery. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if a man referred to a vacuum cleaner as "she" even though there is no life-threatening situation or potential harm. Likewise, objects with the label "she" are not necessarily unknown to the men involved. If you're asking the specific question regarding the preposition 'on', as to whether 'on next Monday' is valid, then I would say no it isn't, you would never say 'on next Monday'. What is the difference between the followings? A. I have been living here for 5 years. B. I have lived here for 5 years. Am I correct that these two represent the same event, but A emphasizes the Usage Note: Using she as a generic or gender-neutral singular pronoun is more common than might be expected, given the continuing debate regarding the parallel use of he. In a 1989 article from the Los Angeles Times, for instance, writer Dan Sullivan notes, "What's wrong with reinventing the wheel? Possible Duplicate: “Did it close” vs “Has it closed”? As a English non-native speaker it is difficult for me to understand when I must use present perfect or past simple What is the correct (grammatical) simple past and past participle form of the verb quit? Is it quit or quitted? She quitted her job. (She has quitted her job.) She quit her job. (She has quit her... I took an English assessment test online and this was my answer: Someone suggested to go for a walk. My answer was wrong and this was the correct sentence: Someone suggested going for a walk... She needs to call him. You need him. This is the more common need, a regular verb (no 'modal'). If it is used with another verb, the infinitive with to is used. It always has do-support. It can be used without another verb, with a direct object (you need him). You use "agree to" to imply that a request was made and that the person towards whom the request was directed responded positively to that request -- i.e., he/she agreed to do whatever the requester was asking him to do. Example: "She agreed to be my prom date." (There are other, more slang and common phrasings to talk about proms, though.)

Hello, need some advice. I (28 F)have been friends with this girl-who we’ll call Apple- for about 10/12 years. Met her in high school and we have had our ups and downs as any friendship would right? Apples birthday lands right after the holidays in January and apple planned a night out of dancing which I have no problem doing.
Cut to the day of, everyone has cancelled and unfortunately because we live in NYC, trains are messed up during the weekends and it just so happened that it was below freezing that day. I text her and wish her a happy birthday and let her know that I may not attend her birthday event due to the trains and low funds as I am a college student and rely on unemployment income. But I would see what I can do so that I can try to make it that night. She never responds my text.
She lets me know hours later that she has cancelled her birthday event because a lot of people bailed. But I tell her that I was able to borrow some money in the meantime and I could take her out. She replies kind of pissy and I tell her that I can take her out or not but to not be upset with me because she knows my income situation at the moment. Apple completely ignores my texts for 3 days.
She eventually tells me that I’m in control of my finances and that she was disappointed in everyone that did not attend. So I answered and told her that unfortunately my income right now is not in my control. I still have bills to pay and they come for my bank account at the beginning of every month just like it does for everyone. I tell that her that I’m sorry but she shouldn’t be disappointed because in the text message I never told her I wasn’t going to go to her birthday event all I said was “I’ll see what I can do” I told her that she has every right to feel disappointed or upset because she’s entitled to her feelings and that I do care for her a lot.
However that was the beginning of January. It’s about to be 3 weeks since I’ve heard from Apple. Granted I knew of these plans for a while so I was saving up, it’s just that bills snuck up on my bank account and left me dry but that wasn’t going to be an issue considering that I could borrow money from my mom and pay her right back. So am I the asshole?
Also FYI for my birthday, Apple didn’t show up. Was I upset? yea of course but not to the extreme of not talking to her for weeks on end.
** also before my bday, apple was also not speaking to me because she was upset with me for something that wasn’t my fault but that story is for another day lol but apple decided that she wanted to talk to me in person after receiving an invitation from my sister to attend my birthday celebration- you know the one she didn’t attend 😂 so this habit of ignoring me is not too new** anyways help me out lol
