2025.01.20 08:14 theTrinityMatrix Played my first ever competitive game and it went about how I expected it.

Well, I guess thats just what bronze is like.. game started and I decided to just go ahead and pick venom since we are probably gonna have more then enough dps, I mean from what I heard around here.. possibly even to much dps and well, all 4 of my teammates picked DPS. Only at the last seconds before the game starts, 2 eventually decided they are gonna swap to support, one of them instantly complaining that he now has to play a character he doesnt know. So what do we learn from that, know atleast 2 characters of each type before playing competetive. Of course thats just my take and yes.. that was only one game but.. it was also my first comp game.. so memories like that stick.

2025.01.20 08:14 Dangerous-thought22 im genuinely so tired of these cycles

i am so tired of these cycles. i feel so good, motivated and productive for at least 2 weeks then it pummels down to feeling so depressed that i cry daily for no reason and have so little motivation I don’t shower for like 2 weeks (ik it’s gross) which lasts for like weeks to months. Then after those weeks/months I can’t feel anything at all can’t cry whatsoever and am in a intense state of derealization in which i become very unstable like i genuinely think im crazy. then it eventually rises and I’m motivated and productive again. And it’s so debilitating because every time I’m feeling motivated and stable I think it will last forever and then boom weeks later I’m the most unstable person ever I should probably be admitted? It’s like I don’t know who I am anymore and I can’t control how I feel and operate at all. Idk advice, or anyone can relate?

2025.01.20 08:14 L_StarrWrites Tested positive, what can I expect?

Finally tested positive after 4 months of thinking I was going crazy and everyone telling me I was making my symptoms up.
My doctor is putting me on the usual course of 2 antibiotics and an antacid, the antibiotics for a week and the antacid for 4 weeks.
What can I expect? Is there anything I should know? Are there any ways I can stop the antibiotics from messing me up? I have little to no knowledge about this so if anyone could give me some advice I'd really appreciate it, thanks.

2025.01.20 08:14 1mjust4gir1 Endoscopy/colonoscopy with lip filler

I’m having an endoscopy/colonoscopy at the same time next Friday. I’m worried about the effects of the mouth guard on my lips that have old filler in them and are already facing some filler migration issues. I’ve read that people’s lips can get injured and swell from the pressure of a mouthpiece or breathing tube under anesthesia. I’m planning on telling my doctonurses about it on the day of, but I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this or tips. How rough do they have to be and how much pressure do they put on your lips? Is this something I have to be worried about? Thanks in advance!

2025.01.20 08:14 Tavullia46 Sixth Paper in Class XII

I had Information Technology as my sixth paper in Class X. However, my current school does not offer any sixth paper in Class XII. I only have PCM + English Core + Painting.
Does your school offer any sixth paper? If yes, what are your 5th and 6th papers apart from PCM/ABE + English?
How do students perform in general in papers like Hindi Core if it is offered as a sixth paper?

2025.01.20 08:14 Life_and_retirement Annuities for Retirement: Are They Right for You?

When it comes to retirement planning, annuities often spark mixed opinions. Some see them as a reliable source of guaranteed income, while others point to their complexities and costs as reasons to stay away. The truth lies somewhere in between. Let’s take a closer look at the pros and cons of annuities, along with when they might be a good fit for your retirement strategy – and when they’re best avoided.
One of the biggest advantages of annuities is their ability to provide guaranteed lifetime income. This is especially valuable for retirees worried about outliving their savings. With longer lifespans and increasing retirement costs, having a predictable income stream can bring peace of mind and financial stability.
Annuities also offer protection from market volatility. Unlike investments tied to stocks or mutual funds, certain types of annuities – like fixed or indexed annuities – shield your principal from market downturns. This can be a comforting feature, particularly for risk-averse individuals.
Another benefit is tax-deferred growth. With deferred annuities, your earnings grow without immediate tax obligations, allowing your investment to compound over time. This makes them an attractive option for those not yet ready to draw income.
Finally, annuities can be customized to fit your needs. You can choose options like joint payouts to cover a spouse, inflation riders to maintain purchasing power, or guaranteed periods to ensure a minimum payout even if you pass away early.
While annuities have appealing features, they’re not without their downsides. High fees and costs are a common criticism, particularly with variable annuities. Administrative fees, mortality and expense charges, and investment management costs can eat into your returns over time.
Another drawback is their lack of liquidity. Once you commit your money to an annuity, accessing it early can be difficult or come with significant penalties. This makes them less flexible than other retirement savings vehicles like IRAs or 401(k)s.
Complexity is another issue. Annuities often come with detailed terms, caps, floors, and riders that can be confusing, leading some buyers to misunderstand what they’re purchasing. Misaligned expectations can result in disappointment when the product doesn’t perform as hoped.
Lastly, annuities may not offer the same growth potential as other investment options. Fixed and indexed annuities prioritize safety over high returns, so if your primary goal is maximizing growth, they might not be the best fit.
Annuities work best in scenarios where you’re looking for stability and security. If you’re nearing retirement and want to supplement Social Security or pension income with guaranteed payments, annuities can provide peace of mind.
They’re also beneficial if you’re risk-averse and want to protect your principal from market losses. Additionally, if you have already maxed out other retirement accounts and want to continue growing your savings tax-deferred, annuities offer a unique opportunity.
Finally, annuities can be a solid choice if you want to simplify your finances in retirement. By providing consistent, hands-off income, they reduce the need for ongoing portfolio management.
Annuities might not be the best option if you’re young and focused on high-growth investments. For those with a long time horizon, the lower returns of fixed or indexed annuities could limit your wealth-building potential.
They’re also not ideal if you value flexibility or anticipate needing access to your funds in the near future. The surrender charges and penalties associated with annuities can make them cumbersome if your financial plans change unexpectedly.
If you’re put off by fees and complexity, you might want to explore simpler, lower-cost retirement vehicles like IRAs, 401(k)s, or even bond ladders.
Annuities can be a powerful tool for retirement planning, but they’re not for everyone. Understanding their strengths and limitations is key to determining whether they’re the right fit for your financial goals.
If you prioritize guaranteed income, protection from market volatility, and hands-off management, annuities could be a valuable addition to your portfolio. However, if flexibility, growth potential, or lower fees are more important to you, you may want to look at other options.
Have you considered an annuity as part of your retirement plan? What are your thoughts on their pros and cons? Let’s discuss in the comments!

2025.01.20 08:14 RonnieInWonderland Been getting stalked at school

I know people are going to attack me on whether or not this constitutes as stalking but frankly idgaf because I know his intentions and I know how it comes off in real life. I don't need help or advice on this really, I just wanted to get it out into the world. If something bad happens when I confront him maybe some dude on YouTube with an anime icon can talk about my post in a 5 hour long reddit compilation.
I met him in my piano class. We had our seats that we all had essentially assigned ourselves, and he sat in the corner, I sat maybe three pianos away. One day he started sitting beside me. He was alright looking if you caught him from the side. He has dark hair, and he's kind of lanky. I really shouldn't be scared of him, I could take him easily in a fight, even if I am a girl. But then he'd look at me and I'd just feel gross. I shoved it to the side though, because my parents complain about my inability to give men a chance, and we had a conversation one day. we learned each others names. He got my phone number because he asked if I had a number and I couldn't say "no" when my phone was sitting right on the music stand. We walked to his class.
The next day I sat away from him because I had a really bad feeling about him. He stared at me, and when class was over I got up to put my headphones adapter away and he had grabbed my backpack to give it to me, which irked me because I hate my stuff being touched. he waited for me to walk with him again and I didn't. He had a class downstairs, and I had one upstairs. When I was just about to slip into my next periods classroom, I ran into him in the hall. He said hi to me, and then turned back around and walked away. He followed me up there, but discreetly.
The day before Christmas break we were sat at desks and I sat between two other people. I had to play my song for the week, and so I did have to go to the pianos. He came up and sat beside me, of course. I could feel his eyes just burning into my skull. once our teacher was done listening to songs I asked if I could go to a different class and she said yes. I grabbed my stuff, and he asked where I was going. I didn't answer.
he's been staring at me every day. I think he's mapped my schedule out because I run into him in the halls constantly. I've told him over text I'm not interested. When we go back to school I plan on telling him in person with a voice recorder on and my friends surrounding me. I have his number blocked. I can't focus. I'm leaving that class now that the semester is over, but I'm not sure if that will chill him out or cause him to lose it. I guess we'll see.
