TLTR: `from_chars` is broken and I am seeking advice.
Well, yesterday I was just greeted with: https://github.com/lazy-eggplant/vs.templ/issues/17
It took a while to figure that out and I am not sure my interpretation is spot on. My understanding is that, even after 5 years, the latest versions of clang ship with a runtime which is not compliant with the standard, and as such is missing some versions of `from_chars`. Specifically there is no `float` support.
What is even more frustrating is that this information is not immediately clear.
Is my interpretation correct? Also, about this specific issue, do you have a common workaround which ensures the same locale constraints as `from_chars` as fail-back?
Finally, in javascript-land there are aggregators showing differences in compatibility for specific features in different runtimes. For example https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Navigator#browser_compatibility . Do you know of anything similar for c and cpp?

Ignoring the royalties you recieve from your distributor, what is the ideal setup to collect mechanical and performance royalties internationally?
I'm aware CMRRA collects mechanical royalties for Canada, the US (via MLC), as well as as European, African, Middle Eastern, and Central Asian countries (via IMPEL). This obviously covers many bases, but not Latin America, China, Japan, Australia, New Zeland, or South Korea.
I'm also aware SOCAN collects performance and reproduction royalties for Canada, as well as 214 other countries, covering most of the globe. While it seems like it would be ideal to use SOCAN and CMRRA together, CMRRA states this is not possible, which leaves me a little confused.
What is the simplest structure that would allow me to collect international royalties from most major markets? I'm based in Canada and looking to cover as many bases as possible. Ideally, I'd like to avoid services like SongTrust that take large royalty fees.

Hello, I bought a home back in August 2023 for $525k at a 7.375% interest rate. My lender stated rates would likely go back down in April/May 2024. Rates did not drop significantly till SeptembeOctober 2024. When the lender reached out for the refinance she stated there was a grant for my zip code that would allow the refi to be free. I could refi to a 5.8% rate. Right when I began the refi process I was let go of my job. It is now Jan 2025 and the refi rates are only going back up and I am still unemployed. I bought the house probably $150k below market. I'm beginning to wonder if it was a dumb investment and if I don't get a job soon, should I begin to look at selling as carrying this high of an interest rates seems unwise. What do you think? How long should I carry a 7.375% interest rate?

2025.01.20 07:41 Time_for_Stories Struggling with my options
Currently mid-career as in-house energy commodity research for big trader. Relocated to Singapore for the job about 5 years ago from Thailand. TC is US$150k. Happy with job and comp, hours are good, great colleagues, almost fully wfh, 30 days of AL. But I hate it in Singapore so I've been pushing them to let me relocate back home where we have a small office. Boss is supportive since the team is remote anyways. Problem is HR will only allow relocation with CoL adjustment. They are offering $100k if I want to relocate. Which is still a ridiculously good salary for Thailand but I just feel dumb for even considering it especially since I'll get taxed more and everyone else is trying to do the opposite of what I'm doing. And no I can't apply elsewhere - this is roughly double what the market is paying for my role. Even if it weren't I rolled nat20 on this company and team (maybe not comp), 99% of what's out there is probably a wlb downgrade.
But every time I fly back here I feel so depressed. All I do in sg is work and videogames. And it's not a me issue, I know some of you might say you need to try and pick up hobbies and friends. I've done that. Still not happy. I used to work in Tokyo and Hong Kong. Had the same issue in HK - fuckin terrible city. Tokyo was really nice but salary was bleh. I was hoping Sg would be in between but it's not. I'm not sure how much longer I can take.
To put the salary diff into perspective for those of you based in the US, from Thai-PPP perspective I'd be on the equivalent of $440k in Singapore, and $280k in Thailand.
I've been thinking that my lifestyle doesn't and hasn't changed with the income difference so that extra money is just going into savings. Maybe I can retire early. But that's not so different from just being back home and living life in the meantime. But I just keep coming back to the money and thinking that the way I'm thinking is just copium. Don't want to be sitting at home a year from now thinking that if they're paying me 35% less then they're gonna get 35% less work.
Anyways, thoughts? Could use some perspective from someone who took a salary cut to be happier. Really hope that's not an oxymoron.

2025.01.20 07:41 torrous Switching from desktop back to game mode leaves weird leftover artifact in the background
 | I have Bazzite running on a SER8 minipc (amd igpu). It boots into gamescope, and everything works great, but when switching to desktop and then back to game mode (even without doing anything in desktop), i see there are "leftovers" of something, looks like 2 vertical lines. Sometimes it wont be 2 vertical lines, but some gibberish. Besides that everything works as expected, but it bothers me, as its very noticeable.
