So I had a bunch of friends I met online (8 of us in total). The friend group was all fine and good and everything, until one of my friends was racist to me (i’m black). I don’t just mean jokes i mean genuinely racist, and he admitted too that he didn’t mean it as a joke and that all the things he said were serious (that only white people should be together and interracial relationships are wrong, that black girls are weird and aren’t his thing, stuff like that). Almost everyone in the friend group told me to move on and were excusing his actions, so I left the group.
Now one guy (different guy) and one girl from that group are befriending some of my other online friends (a separate group) and it just makes me so depressed and angry that they didn’t get called out for what happened but rather are able to make even more friends. I’m frustrated towards the 2nd friend group too because I told them everything that happened (I didn’t even want to name drop at first but then they told me it’s ok and that I can say the names of my ex friends who said hurtful things). I don’t think they have to stop being friends with them entirely if they don’t want but it just makes me really sad how friendly they are towards them.
One of the guys from my ex friend group, I’m close friends with his best friend and he told me that he “supports me but doesn’t know what to do” I’ve seen this guy stand up for other people/things he likes in the past so idk what I’m doing wrong, maybe I wasn’t close enough friends with him for him to do that. It makes me feel like I’m overreacting, but I don’t think I am. One of my friends even apologized to me for being so friendly to my ex friends but then nothing has really changed and she still acts the same. AIO for wanting my friends to be less friendly to my ex friends?
