My dad's an alcoholic. He wasn't before, but he's become one since a few years ago. He behaves like an absolute monster when he's drunk. He's very rude, inconsiderate, arrogant and quite frankly insufferable. He used to be quite normal when he was not drunk, but over the past year both his personalities have started to merge. He's been acting weird even when when he's sober now..
I'm pretty sure his liver is at stage 3. His face arms and feet are swollen when he's drunk. But he won't go to a doctor because he knows what they're gonna tell him- that he must stop drinking.
Another thing is that he just doesn't listen. He feels that the doctors are stupid, and they're just trying to get his money but suggesting "stupid" things like counselling. He went to a therapist ONE time (one- 40min session), and has been avoiding going to her again... When I asked him why he's doing that, he said that he thinks she's looting her. When we nag him to go to the doctors, he always comes up with convincing excuses, and sometimes straight up says no.
His psychiatrist has prescribed him two medicines- one to reduce the alcohol craving and one to help him sleep. He avoids taking the 1st one because he wants to drink and avoids taking the 2nd pill because he wants to keep drinking till about 3am. Sometimes he takes neither and keeps drinking for 24 hrs at times.
When he's drunk, he's started saying bad things like how he's gonna miss this family and all. It's like he's preparing for his death, and like maybe wants to do some pretentious "martyrdom" act? I don't know. But this makes me feel extremely frustrated.
I love my father. He was nothing like this before. We live in the same house but it's been years since we even had a nice outing where dad isn't drunk. We're doing fine money-wise at the moment, but I still don't have a job. It'll still be a couple more years at the least.
My mother has been holding us all together but she's reaching her limit now. It's all taking a physical toll on her. My dad has ruined relations with his behaviour between both his side of the family and my mom's side. His idea of a happy family is just our nuclear family staying in a house and noone else is allowed. No relatives, no friends.nothjng. just us. He has an older brother, but even he doesn't understand the seriousness of this situation. When my dad does the 24hrs drinking sessions, we finally call his brother and he comes and pacifies the situation for the time and leaves. That's it.
I don't know if my dad's recieved some bad news regarding his health which he's not sharing with us, but he's not well. I can see that. He knows that we love him.. but his actions are such that we sometimes wonder if this man doesn't care about us, or is just plainly stupid to not listen to us and our requests.
I pray that no-one in this world has to ever deal with alcoholics in the family. Fuck alcohol.

I'm looking to visit Berlin, Amsterdam, and Spain (current thinking is Barcelona and Madrid) this summer for the first time (June, July or August - specific dates TBC).

This derailleur didn’t come with one, so I’m installing a new one, and I can’t find ANY detailed documentation about the installation of this particular b-axle unit onto the derailleur. The technical manual shows how to take one off, but it isn’t clear about how to install it on this specific derailleur. It doesn’t even mention that it is attached with a torx bolt and retaining clip.
If I snug the torx bolt that attaches the derailleur to the b-axle, the derailleur doesn’t swing, but I was under the impression that it should.
I understand that the b-axle unit itself is secured tightly to the hangar with a 5mm hex, that there should be no gap between the tab on the hangar and the tab on the b-axle unit, and that the derailleur should be fixed securely at the hangar.
So, isn’t the derailleur supposed to swing freely at the b-axle?
Sorry if this is confusing, but please don’t guess or offer an answer unless you are 100% sure about it with this specific derailleur.

To paraphrase, we should all take this more seriously and stop viewing it as "entertainment." I'll sidestep the fact that his shows and podcasts are, in fact, entertainment and presented as such as witnessed by the Unsolved Mysteries/Current Affair motif emulated for his latest special, as there is an even bigger glaring issue he wants you to overlook. He presented the now infamous egg shaped crash retrieval video that had no connection to Jake Baber with absolutely zero provenance or context and thinks you should just blindly believe that it's legit.
Now hear me out - I'm not saying that it is "fake," but it certainly doesn't mean it's a UAP which is a huge leap of faith to take when all we have to go on is Ross saying it is and that it was provided anonymously. There is literally no information to go along with this 10 second clip - we could literally be looking at anything, whether it is "fake" or just misidentified or an actual UAP.
First is he doesn't provide any provenance. Where did this video come from, other than an "anonymous" source? How was it vetted? What additional research was done to verify it's authenticity and the anonymous source's veracity? How was it obtained? Was it just sent to Ross in an email from an unknown sender?
And that speaks nothing of any contextual information about the clip. It literally was just thrown into the show and the audience was told it was a crash retrieval of a UAP. When was this video taken? Where was it taken? What was the circumstances of the crash and subsequent retrieval? Why is it only 10 seconds of what we can all assume is a much longer video? Where is the rest of the video? Why was it edited down to only 10 seconds? What occurred prior to the 10 second clip, and then after once it touches the ground?
Sure, it's an odd video and will make you say "hmm." But with ZERO provenance or context, it's just that - a random 10 second clip of who the hell knows what. Again - not missing some context - literally ZERO context. None. But Ross thinks you don't take this seriously and only view it as entertainment because this community questioned what we were actually looking at.
I wouldn't have as big an issue if he himself didn't hype this up as one of the biggest stories of the last century. He even retweeted Jesse Michels before the show aired who said the following:
Ross Coulthart is dropping what I suspect will be one of the most consequential news stories in the last century: a firsthand UFO whistleblower who has retrieved non-human craft
And then he has the audacity to berate the UAP community because we question it's authenticity when he provides no information to back up his own sourced 10 second clip, and follows it up with a first hand whistleblower that only provides more stories and no tangible evidence to back up his own claims? Need I remind everyone that Ross was fired from a previous journalism job because he pushed a conspiracy about a British pedophile ring claiming evidence/witnesses that turned out to be completely false that he hadn't vetted.
