Seriously the book is a personal favorite and so chilling. Imagine Eggers envisioning a period accurate telling of the story, it'd be haunting.
The book is unnerving as it uses Victorian era language it feels to try and describe very modern technology.
At one point the books describe the Alien tripod as shooting out a "focused beam of fire" which clearly feels like it's trying to describe a laser.
I think he could do the era so much justice while tackling a really unique take on an alien invasion in that time period.

I work in a communications job, so one of the things I do is putting people forward as radio or podcasts guests.
The people I work with are all really smart, knowledgeable about their work etc. However this does not always translate when they speak publicly or on air.
Many either: * Don’t listen to the questions * Lots of crutch words (umm, ahh, y’know) * Have answers either way too long or short
However I did recently work with someone who was still a student and I was really impressed by how smooth they were. Their answers were clear, concise, and they spoke really well. I couldn’t tell if they’d memorised their answers, or what they’d done.
This person had been to a very good school, so it's possible that they had coaching in public speaking? I don't think it's a thing that you need to have a certain accent, because anyone is able to speak clearly.
I then recently was on the other side of the table recently, and found myself speaking on a panel. It well received, and I hadn't been nervous, but when I listened back I was surprised by how many crutch words I used, and how I would often rush off to the next 'thought' without rounding off the last one.
I googled public speaking courses but the first one that came up was literally about 2000€. Are there any other things I can do?

You're not an introvert you have social anxiety. I prefer spending my time alone and am energized by isolation.
I do not have a panic attack when a store clerk talks to me.
I do not freak out at the idea of going to a party. I do need to make sure I have the means to leave said party when my social battery is drained.
I have no issue holding a conversation with another person. Doing so isn't "being an extrovert"
Extroverts can also have social anxiety as can introverts.
Extrovert means you gain energy from being social.
Introvert means you lose energy from being social.
Please stop getting it confused.

I am in my final year of BTech and starting a 6 month internship next month, and also have a full time offers from the company.
Currently I am freelancing on the side for a contact. There is no agreement between us, it's all verbal, and he pays in cash/crypto so no PF issues involved. He knows I start work next month but since the freelancing workload isn't that much, he asked me if I can continue working on the side for him.
I do like the extra money and think I can manage the workload for the initial few months but I'm concerned about the legal issues I might face.
Do note that my internship doesn't offer a laptop and I have to use my personal laptop for work (hybrid setting).
Is this moonlighting? And what are some legal issues or risks that I face?

Newly diagnosed but not new to the symptoms whatsoever...
Currently in the middle of probably the worst ibs flare up I've ever had and idk what is even causing it but I almost passed out and im just sitting here trying to stay calm while I lose straight liquids...tmi sorry. The cramps are killing me and I'm just stuck here and it's 3 am... i have a drs appointment in mere hours. Someone pls relate. Also, newish symptom- my legs and feet HURT and are shaking BAD is that common???? :-( I may not survive this one folks
