My thoughts on Vietnam. We are from the United States. My partner and I are traveling south east Asia for our honeymoon. My partner used to work in Bangkok thailand. , I suggested we get married in Phuket Thailand and travel Southeast Asia for our honeymoon. We went to Bangkok for a couple days to visit where they used to work. The city is huge. Smog, great food, great entertainment, great people watching, traffic insane. People are generally friendly. Phuket is a beautiful island. Completely different from rest of Thailand. Awesome beaches. Laid back vibe. Awesome places to tour. It did feel like we were visiting a Russia sister city. Thailand is one of the few countries that hasn’t sanctioned Russians for travel. After the wedding in Phuket we went to Chiang Mai. Completely different city than Bangkok and Phuket. It feels like a Mecca city for traveling artist, spiritual seekers, great artwork and street food. It is also medical tourist town specifically for dental. Not sure why. Tons of temples all over Chiang Mai. We overall enjoyed the city and people.
Now onto Vietnam. My partner and I both agree we both like and dislike Vietnam. Vietnam. Our first stop was in Hanoi for two days. We stayed in the old quarter. We went to train street, beer street, the temple of literature, traq cu pagoda, water puppet show, food tour, and night markets. The hotel awesome. scenery, entertainment, people watching, food, arts and history of Vietnam were great. We didn’t listen to the advice of the internet and got a taxi. He tried to charge us 4 times the amount of the meter. I argued with him for 5 minutes and he dropped the price 200000. Everyone sees you as a dollar it felt like. People coming up to you to ask to buy their products you saying no and they get mad or aggressive. The hotel teaches you how to interact with their people. Say no. Pickpocketing is a problem. Scams are a problem. Do not interact with locals unless you mean business. Haggle on prices. The Vietnamese people are on another level of hustling.
After two days we flew to da nang to travel to hoi an. Hoi an is a fun town this part of vietnam is way more laid back. We ended up getting a grab taxi to hoi an. It is a fixed rate. The taxi driver was probably the friendliest person we met. We talked about his family, our family, at the end he offered us tours. We already had a tour guide booked for my son sanctuary and a rice noodle plant. The tour guide was stand off ish but still friendly. Very knowledgeable and towards the end felt like he warmed up to us. It was a great tour. Everyplace we walked people hassling us to go into their shops or buy something. Tomorrow we leave for ho chi Minh city. We both love Vietnam for everything besides the people.

Eu fiz 18 anos ano passado, moro numa cidade da zona metropolitana da capital do meu estado e terei a segunda fase de seleção amanhã. Perdão se parecer dramático além da conta ou meio extenso. Bem, realmente não tenho interesse em servir, pois não curto muito essa área militar, faço faculdade na melhor universidade da região e estou envolvido em um projeto cultural na minha cidade. Pelo que vi, se eu for chamado vão me mandar lá para o outro lado do estado. Infelizmente não tenho muitos "motivos aparentes" para não me chamarem, não tenho tatuagem, não tenho piercing, nunca usei qualquer tipo de droga (nem álcool) e sou meio "certinho", no geral, o que não sei se pode ser algo bom para eles. O máximo que levarei é o meu comprovante de matrícula da universidade.
Mas há o ponto de meus pais usarem maconha e quando o entrevistador me perguntou na primeira fase se eu tinha pessoas próximas que utilizavam alguma droga, eu falei que sim e em seguida ele pediu para especificar quem eram e eu tive que especificar que eram meus pais (sei, fui muito burro, mas na forte pressão que eu estava no momento e como eu não esperava isso, acabei não raciocinando direito e fui sincero, só depois deu para refletir). Acabei ficando com certo medo, de por eu ter dito isso, poderem ir atrás dos meus pais já que tinham endereço e tudo, mas felizmente até que rolou nada kkkkk
Uma pergunta que eu teria seria se eu deveria ser sincero ou não, caso me perguntem a mesma coisa novamente amanhã? O lado bom de ser sincero é que isso pode ser talvez um motivo a mais para não me chamarem, já que é uma das poucas coisas "incomuns" que tenho, o lado ruim de eu ser sincero é que pode fazer diferença nenhuma ou até ser algo bom, já que eu não uso, e poderia dar o azar de, por poder ser um entrevistador diferente, esse sim pensar em tomar uma providência, sei lá. Mas um ponto também de mentir é que podem ter anotado o que respondi na vez passada e podem me questionar se eu mudar, logo fico bem em dúvida sobre. Novamente, perdão o drama, quem sabe nem role isso de novo ou eu nem deva temer, só acho que valeria eu me previnir para ficar tranquilo. Se perguntarem, falo de novo que meus pais usam maconha ou minto dessa vez?
Sintam-se abertos também a concelhos para eu não ser convocado, caso tiverem, dado o meu caso de ser "muito certinho", ou o que tiverem a dizer.
