2025.01.20 16:44 Nubian_Cavalry Eating at a calorie surplus to bulk feels like such a chore
I’m pretty average (~139-142 5'8 24M, unsure due to fluctuations upwards of 148lbs), so I try to eat at a moderate surplus which with 20k steps a day appears to be 2500-2600 daily
I’ve taken to treating it with the same level of discipline I did when I was intentionally trying to lose weight and eat healthy. Meaning mostly greens, lean meats, avoiding excessive fat intake. I’ve also decided to eat with no distractions and focus on mg food. 2 hearty meals and filling the blanks with snacks.
It just feels… unpleasant. 4 weeks in and lifts have been progressing so it’s working, even though I’ve been at the gym for a while I’ve never been consistent so folks still say I’m a “Newbie”. All the eating is just unpleasant.
Like, I need to make sure I get my fiber and protein in. All that. Whole Foods. I could easily crush my number with junk food but I just don’t enjoy junk food anymore, not to mention it makes me feel like shit afterwards.
Like, I had two plates and two bowls of rice, chicken, mixed vegetables, wontons and edamames yesterday. Post workout and dinner. If that’s all I ate that day I’d be at maintenance or even a deficit so I had to throw in more wontons, an egg, and a bowl of grits+broccoli in between. Felt so rough keeping that down.
IDK where else to post this, just what I’m feeling atm.

I saw a lot of disappointment about singularity because instead of having real discussions and posting facts it became 99% corporative garbage, also a lot of decels/deniers even under significant, optimistic news. A lot of time it was the only bastion of optimism and sober look on future (mostly), but now i also can't ignore that.
This sub is only 2k instead of 3,5m+ on singularity, but active here is very high, almost like in other big tech subs, but instead of another insert very authoritative leading laboratory researcher name here is almost only actual research papers and good discussions about AI and other stuff.
Well done, guys. Let's keep this island of sanity this quality as long as we can!
