2025.01.20 18:48 lexs8 Dying a BIG coat without a washer

I love my winter coat, but want to change the color. This would be my first time dying something, so I appreciate advice! It's 100% cotton (fur is detachable and I will be removing it) which makes it easy. It's pretty heavy, so it'll need a full bottle at least.
However, I live in a small city apartment. I have access to a top-loading washer, but it is coin operated, so it locks and I am unable to check on the garment mid-cycle to make sure it is dying evenly. That also makes it impossible to add ColorStay Dye Fixative mid-way through.
So I was thinking of finding the biggest plastic bin I could and putting it in my tub. Is that my best bet?
After bucket dying it, could I then run it through the wash with the Fixative? Or is it best to add to the bucket?
I imagine it needs to be air dried post-dye. Is there a risk of it staining anything while drying?

So basically I can hear almost every move my downstairs neighbors make. It sounds like they stomp around with cinder blocks on their feet, they slam every door, drawer, and cupboard, and their voices carry so I can always hear them talking. As I rent, my options are limited. But I had an idea. I have a bunch of thick cardboard moving boxes. I thought if I laid those over the carpet, then plywood, then sound absorbing underlay, then peel and stick tiles, I would have a new floor without wrecking the carpet that would absorb the noise from below. Would this work?

I was fortunate to have a great conversation with Alison Kibler from LancasterVice.com about a very interesting period in Lancaster's history (late 1800s - early 1900s) where the city was wide open for prostitution, gambling, and illegal drinking establishments. Apparently the scene was thoroughly investigated and documented. The Lancaster Vice project is digging through the archives and bringing some fascinating stories to the 21st century.
There were four breweries in Lancaster at the time and Chad Rieker's family owned one of them (Rieker Star Brewing). None of those breweries made it much past the 1920s but Chad's keeping the family tradition alive as part of the local craft beer explosion over the past 15 years. You can listen to these conversations here.
With over 30 breweries here in Lancaster, we're going to be having a lot more conversations about the local craft beer scene. What are your favorite local breweries and specific beers?

Im half mongol, half foreign and ive been living here practically my entire life but i was never taught how to Speak Mongolian well BUT i'd say im pretty well above average in understanding Mongolian, And since ive turned 16 almost a year ago and am a mongolian citizen ive been wondering what jobs you guys think i could get into/how could i be treated
Besides asking friends and family to see if they have opportunities (already done that) id wanna know how things may go for me if i work some small job (Cu/Gs/Restaurant/Etc)
I dont think id be working well in a cashier position cuz id have to be talking alot and miscommunication will be bound to happen, I am pretty physically fit and lift often and i could work a more back of house job, lifting drinks, sorting shelves, etc
Ive been nearly and fully hate crimed before cuz i look alot more white than i do asian and safety is genuinely a big concern, any time past 7pm and every 60 year old man wants me out their country all of a sudden. I wanna know your guys' opinions on how likely it is for me to even be considered for these jobs, And if so, I'd appreciate examples or specific jobs you think could suit me well, im trying to provide for my family because we're in a pretty rough situation and id appreciate all the help i can get

hi there! I’ve been looking into purchasing a Force of Nature kit (or, alternatively, purchasing an electrolyzer and making the solution myself). I am about to move into a new house and I’m looking for more kid/pet friendly cleaning solutions. I’ve seen some people comment on how it destroyed the enamel on their toilet seats — has anyone else found this to be the case? I planned on spraying door knobs, faucets, toilets, light switches, pretty much anything your hands come in contact with. Has anyone had any issues with the solution destroying or eating away the finish on household items like that? Or is there another “cleaner” product I could be using for those types of surfaces?
