Will he really be much different? I don't think Trump, Biden, and Kamala are really any different from one another. They all moved trans rights back, Biden deported more immigrants than Trump, and both are imperialists.
People are talking about Trump bringing in fascism, but wouldn't that have happened under Kamala too? Democrats and Republicans are the same in the end.

2025.01.20 21:59 duckpappi My mom’s being unsupportive of my soon to be relationship, help.
Usually I wouldn’t ask for anyone opinion but recently I’ve started talking to Mitch(fake name) (F 19) and I’m (F 17) we’ve been talking for over a year (my choice) and I really enjoy her presence but a little thing is that we don’t live in the same state. I’m okay with this and Mitch is as well, but we do have a little bit of uncertainty. Even more recently though, my mom was sneaking around my phone and found our chats of us saying “I love you” to each other. A little back story though, I came out my mom when I was 12-13 and she responded by ignoring me, this is the first time she’s “caught” me talking to a girl- (I’ve never hid who I’m talking to but I also haven’t out right told her who I’m with). We also have gay family friends who have lesbian sisters and she acts like how you normally would but always side eyes me when they come over, which I find weird Anyway, me and Mitch aren’t dating. So I wasn’t going to lie to my mom and say we were. She got upset and asked me if I even knew who she was? My response to her was “I do know her and she knows me better than you could ever” she said that I was ungrateful and that the girl that I’m talking to could tell me to jump off bridge and I would do it. Basically saying that I was blinded by love or something. She left it at that and walked away, but today she told me that what I was doing was wrong and I was choosing (there has never been a situation where over chosen either) a random stranger over my own family. I told Mitch what my mom said and she said my mother was being homophobic and controlling. I do admit I got upset at her for talking about my mother like that, but I got her point. I don’t know what to tell my mother because I really like this girl and I’m sure this will be a long term relationship. What do I do???

After the US inauguration today, where there was a male attendee in the Rotunda wearing a cowboy hat, I started thinking about hat etiquette.
I’ve tried to limit my question to a specific time and place. I did some cursory google searches and there seemed no real explanation, yet several hat plausible reasons based on the location/time. For example: I would be upset if someone plunked a dusty, smelly hat down next to me in a saloon in the American west. They probably smelled enough minus the hat.
So my question is this: there seems to be a difference in male/female hat etiquette during the Victorian period. From a non-historian perspective, it seems like fashion was due to upper classes.
So why the difference in expectations by gender? I’d think ‘no hats’ meant no hats because everyone was in the same street during travel - they’d all have the same gross stuff on them. But women were allowed dress hats. Did they change them upon arrival? Were men riding horses and women inside a carriage? Modesty requirements of some churches spilling over to day to day life?
Something must have contributed to this.

Hi all,
So I think there is something wrong with our meter and we will be calling our electric company tomorrow.
Basically, on January 18th, we were gone from 11am to 6pm and our electricity was only €.78, but then yesterday, we were gone from 10:15am to roughly 7pm and it kicked up to €1.67. I’m not sure how that is possible since the same things were plugged in, and nothing else was on. I had this issue similar when last week my husband and I wasn’t in the house for almost 4 hours and our day bill was €2.66. I’m now at a lost on how this keeps happening because one of the things I noticed for yesterday and last week is there was a spike at 10:30am… but my husband and I both weren’t home at 10:30am. Am I crazy to think that the electric company is overcharging us or even worst someone else is on our meter?
Any other day we hit €1.60 when both my husband I are home, but these two days were weren’t.
Any ideas?
