I am still figuring out the app. So this is purely out of curiosity. When you’ve been messaging people on bumble, I notice after a bit of inactivity it moves to “older chats”. Some say “deleted member”, but the chat is still there. Others show the persons name still but say “they have ended the chat”. And then other chats disappear altogether. What is the difference? I’m assuming ending the chat means I was unmatched? But then what causes the entire chat to disappear?

I see lots of posts and comments here about able-bodied/neurotypical people pitying us or providing nominally well-meaning “advice” or suggestions. It definitely happens to us IRL; whenever my husband talks about his own disabilities someone usually suggests an unregulated supplement or alternative medicine treatment.
I don’t know if it’s my autism, but it never bothers me as much as it bothers him. I wanted to make this post to see other people’s opinions in contrast to my own.
The way it comes across to me is that “pity” comes in two types. The overwhelming majority of it I would classify as “impotent altruism”. People see/hear us discuss our disabilities and they assume we’re suffering, whether or not we truly are. For example, I’m happy as a clam being a lifelong anosmic and genuinely prefer living this way while my husband is very much obviously suffering with his chronic pain. It’s a natural response to want to help another human in need so upon hearing us they immediately want to help. They’re not equipped to aid us in any meaningful way but they want to show compassion and do something about it. The only thing that’s left is suggesting a method to alleviate our disabilities or exclaiming a sincerely sympathetic “poor you” remark.
For these people I’d say something short and simple along the lines of “I appreciate your compassion but that’s not the answer and isn’t going to help. If you want to help, do stuff to improve conditions for disabled people in society.” Then suggest a bill they could support, a website they can donate to, somewhere they can volunteer, or whatever you personally think is best. This also has the additional benefit of them getting real life experience of what we actually need and want from people willing and equipped to teach them. If they don’t follow through they’ll probably stop doing this realizing that they don’t actually want to do anything useful.
The second, rarer type is the “eugenicist”. Their pity is closer to “Oh, how sad that you’re not a whole human like me. You must instead subsist as a meager unperson”. These people are asshats and beneath contempt.
What do you think/feel about people who pity/try to “help” us? If, like my husband, you find it deeply upsetting, why? (Once again, I have autism. I genuinely don’t understand and sincerely seek answers.)

Listened to Overdue: A magical library litrpg adventure. All of a sudden it felt so familiar and voices sounded like I heard them before. Then I realized and checked the author to make sure I didn’t accidentally pick a book in the wandering inn universe. I really love this voice actor in the wandering inn! It kind of threw me when I started hearing iconic wandering inn audio book voices and accents in this story.
Of course I get it. Going through 14 books of the wandering inn you’re going to have to voice a ton of characters with unique voices so eventually you’re going to end up recycling some in other universes.
Anyway, recognizing the voice actor in Overdue was equal portions comforting/familianostalgic and funny/strange/needing adjusting to. I got over it after a few chapters though!

J'ai acheté Rikiki et le trésor de Barbe noire pour mon fils, c'est un jeu coopératif pour se familiariser avec les mécaniques classiques d'un jeu de société, il n'y a pas de prise de décision, on lance des dés, on lit des cartes actions etc... Pourtant nous n'avons jamais gagné une seule partie, on est toujours très loin du compte.
Comme il n'y a aucune prise de décision dans le jeu, j'ai fais des simulations avec Python, et en 400000 parties simulées, aucune victoire.
Est-ce que c'est moi qui ne comprends pas les règles ?! Est-ce que quelqu'un ici connait le jeu et à déjà gagné ?! Est-ce que c'est un jeu pour dégouter les enfants ?! A l'aide.

Between Doordash customers, the merchants and some of the idiot Dashers who inhabit this Reddit space, I regret blowing my money after getting booked on numerous national commercials. I had grown tired of working in the entertainment Industry and so working Doordash and Postmates were a welcome relief, because I was making $200 per day before all the poor people started ordering.
Postmates in LA just used to be for the wealthy West la people who wanted to order $300 worth of dinner from LA Scala or Boa. And the tips were CRAZY.
I got suckered in, got too comfortable and said adios to film and TV production. I got trapped in slow sand. From living in Brentwood and jogging up San Vicente to Ocean Ave and eating well to arguing with fat Dasher trolls on Reddit.
TO HELL WITH THIS. Time to dust off my SAG card and get back into the lights camera action. And if there are any other industry folks on here, do what you need to do and get back to work and say goodbye to Dashtrash by June.
