I hope this is allowed, I couldnt find a better sub to post but if not I will remove.
My dog (german shepherd, 7) got ready for bed as usual, as we were falling asleep late at night I noticed his rear leg was moving repeatedly without explanation. Don't know how to explain it as it wasn't really a tremor or spasm and he wasnt dreaming either, it was the same movement dogs make when you scratch "the spot" except no one was touching anything, it was just him lying on the floor about to fall asleep with his back leg doing this incessantly for minutes (long enough to worry me, but I'm paranoid so I talked myself down and tried to fall asleep). It's now the middle of the night and I got woken up by noises. He's now panting (which considering it's winter and no more warm inside than any other day, it seemed unusual), and scratching himself non-stop. He asked to go outside but he's not doing anything besides scratching. He seems to be otherwise perfect, barking at other animals etc as if nothing's wrong.
I CANNOT bring him to the vet, so please do not comment just to say that. I will obviously bring him to the vet as soon as possible, but right now it's not an option. 24/7 vets are incredibly rare here (rural town in europe), in fact the only one we had here closed and the only one still open is in another town which I cannot reach, so the only option is to wait til our vets open in the morning and hope they can see us within tomorrow (you have to book and cant just show up but will try and squeeze you if they can, but not a guarantee).
I understand reddit, google etc isnt medical advice and I'm not asking for that reason, or to substitute actual medical advice, as said I will take him to the vet as soon as possible regardless. But I'm wondering if anyone has any general idea as to what might have happened, or anything that I could do on my own before the vet becomes a viable option. Thank you in advance.
PS my dog is an indoooutdoor dog with doggy door access during the day and locked inside with me at night.

Hi everyone,
I am a volume eater and I graze too much in between meals. Historically I (33F) do not have a healthy relationship with food. I have been overweight all my life and have PCOS. Never limited myself in the carbs/sugar department until now.
I’ve been at low carb about a week now and can honestly say I am really enjoying it - never once thought I’d say that about a diet!
I’ve had no cheat days, and proud to say I have been cooking at home a LOT more, challenging myself to plan and prepare new low carb recipes, and choosing to eat more whole foods than before.
I’ve only ordered Skip once last week (whereas before it was every other day..) and that was to order a chicken salad at work when I was really hungry and had no low carb snacks on me.
I have noticed no real difference on the scale or how I look, however.. trying not to be too discouraged and be patient as I know it takes time. Consistency is key with weight loss, as I’ve been told.
This being said, I suspect I am eating too many calories.. I haven’t really been tracking anything, just focusing on eating low carb foods.
Things I’ve been eating in rotation the last week:
- meat and eggs (chicken wings, bacon, sausage, ground beef)
- full fat dairy: cheese, heavy cream, no sugar coffee creamer, plain Greek yogurt, cream cheese, Premier Protein drinks
- veggies (Broccoli, cauliflower, cucumber, dill pickles, romaine lettuce - Caesar salad, avocado/guacamole)
- sweeteners (stevia, monk fruit)
- orowheat wraps
- sugar free versions of condiments (mustard, homemade buffalo sauce - Franks red hot & butter, ketchup, BBQ sauce, full fat ranch)
-snacks: Quest chips, no sugar chocolate chips, peanut butter cup fat bombs, sugar free vanilla pudding, Love Good Fats bars, Diet Pepsi
My question is: What are your go-to low carb/keto recipes that are good for volume eating - where you can eat a lot of it, feel satiated for awhile, and not have to worry too much about calories?
I know I need to cut out the snacking/grazing in between meals if I want to see some better progress..
I am also thinking fasting would be a good idea .. I just really hate being hungry though. I find when I am hungry, I’m more likely to binge-eat and spiral, completely throwing out my progress. This is why I’d love some ideas of volume eater friendly recipes that I can have prior to going into a fast.

So my fridge died and I tried storing my frozen meat in a minibar I have in my room so that it didn’t go bad. Well all the meat defrosted and the myoglobin leaked through the fridge door and my floor had a fair amount of meat juice which got absorbed overnight. This happened last night and now my bedroom is starting to smell like a butcher. Already tried moping and using some otc hydrogen peroxide. It did improve a little bit but not too much.
Do you guys know what I could use to get rid of that smell?

2025.01.21 02:16 stageshooter Tricky room. What can I do for audio?
My living room is long and narrow, 10.5'x 24' and there was only one spot for the sectional because of doorways and a fireplace, so I have separate areas for stereo and tv. The TV is 75" and I'd like better sound than the tv speakers but I'm not sure what the best plan is. I could put in-wall speakers on either side of the tv if I slide it over 4" to the right, or can do speakers above. I could also put a shelf above the tv. I'd also have to figure out where to put an receiver or amp although I could stash a small class D amp behind the tv. I'm not going to be listening to any music on this system so it just has to be "good enough". Any suggestions?

My son cannot circumvent the application, but there are things that I want him to avoid, like crypto sites and porn sites. The great thing about the Gamblock app is that the developers can implement new features, and to my surprise, they accommodate mine. I recently asked them to block incoming calls and SMS messages since the built-in feature on the device can be manipulated. Hats off to the team. I do not think there is a similar company that offers this level of customization.
