Anyone interested in having some comraderie as they buckle down for gruesome studying for the boards?
I had a study partner for MCAT and Step 1 (did pretty well on both). Score dropped Step 2 and barely passed Step 3 (i know, everyone and their moms tend to have the opposite trend). I wouldnt attribute it to not having a study buddy… i was super burnt out on top of a bunch of personal things going on.
My partners were in person and we actually did things at our own pace. It was more the morale boost and accountability of not putting it off that was helpful, like having a good gym partner.
Pretty flexible about the finer details. I’ll be studying on my own 3 to 4 days a week in small chunks. This is hardly going to make or break me… just wanted to rally on a study method that was helpful to me eons past.

My MIL was first dx with parathyroid cancer about 5 years ago. Had the adenomas removed from her neck. She has been a drinker forever and after that surgery, became a nonstop drinking alcoholic. Long story short she is now in a nursing home at 64 years old with dementia. Her cancer came back and they removed more from her neck in August. Now they see it is back in her neck, and had a biopsy of her lung and it has metastasized there. She has only had chest scans, she has other health problems due to the alcoholism like kidney disease, but we don’t know if it has spread anywhere else. Calcium is still high even after the shot to lower it, though the shot did help.
She has been waiting weeks now to see an oncologist. The endocrinologist had to find a group that specializes in parathyroid cancer because it is rare. MIL saw the new endocrinologist who confirmed it’s in her neck, and she saw the results of the lung biopsy. She said next step is oncology. The endocrinologist implied maybe surgery would not be an option, and has said chemo and radiation have not been found helpful for this type of cancer.
Is it basically terminal at this point? She has an appointment with the oncologist at the end of the month, but we have no idea what to expect.

just watched this show last year idk if this has been discourse here or not but like if you can write someone’s actions preceding their death, that’s pretty loose right? so for example instead of writing naomi to kill herself light could have written that she lost all interest in the kira case, flew home to america, lived her life doing no actions which related to or affected the case, and died of natural causes at 75? idk just a thought. cause i think if it were possible to control someone for this long it would have been beneficial for light to do this to some people instead of killing them, it might have thrown L off his scent.

I have a Rolex 16710 with a small scratch on the crystal. Nothing substantial, but something that I'm considering having replaced. At face value, an incredibly simple job and one that shouldn't cost that much.
My first step was to call the RSC near me. The woman on the phone sounded almost incredulous to hear me asking questions. "No, we cannot tell you the cost of a replacement crystal. It depends on the model". I ask about a replacement bezel, and a met with a similar story, "it depends on what the original bezel was, we can't tell you more. Come in store."
I decide to cut my losses and try a 3rd party store who do repairs. I message asking for the cost of a replacement crystal. I'm told, "we need to assess the condition of the watch to accurately say how much the glass will cost." This, of course, comes with a mandatory quotation that must be paid - even if I don't go ahead with the service.
Why is the watch industry like this? Why is something as simple as requesting the price of a replacement part (no the price of the job, just the part) so difficult?
