New puppy

Hi all, on Saturday we adopted a beautiful 7 week old English cocker spaniel after our old cocker unfortunately passed last January. My seven year old cat absolutely adored our cocker spaniel who was six years when pixie (the cat) came along, the dog tolerated the cat but the cat really did love her they’d both run down the stairs together in the morning for food and they both free roamed the house together once our cat was a bit bigger with no problems whatsoever they’d share the living room or wherever they where in the house. Anyway I know it’s only been a few days since the pup came but my cat is now predominantly staying upstairs she’s always enjoyed being upstairs she sleeps in the cabinet with the towels as it’s warm out of her own choice and free will it’s like her bedroom lol she chills in my room and tbh it’s basically our bedroom, she’s always been shy with strangers etc but I’m so worried about her I’m scared that she feels betrayed by us and I genuinely thought that after the loss of our first dog she seemed lost in herself and that a puppy would be a good solution for everyone. She shows absolutely no aggression towards the puppy if anything she seems confused/ scared of her, we have a play pen for the puppy which shell be staying in while we’re gone with the door closed, the cat just sniffs the pen and her the fur on her back spikes up and she’ll watch her from a distance ie the stairs while puppy is out of the playpen. The guilt I’m feeling right now Is unmatched I’ve fallen in love with the puppy and she’s brought a spark back in my since our other dog passed but my cat is the first animal I’ve ever fully taken care of she slept in my room as a kitten, fed her, cleaned her trays, paid the vet bills just basically doing the basics but 24/7 she’s my absolute soul cat but she’s gotten distant from me over the puppy and I just want them to be friends in someway and not feel such guilt for simply loving a new puppy I never thought I’d love another dog after my previous cocker passed and the guilt of loving the puppy has taken over in both ways. Please any advice and how much longer should I give it till I get concerned for either of their safety (the puppy is scared of the cat too she’s in no way aggressive just a love bug) thank you all so much

Imagine someone that supposed to love you, forcing you to be OK with something they themselves would not be OK with and then telling you they want to be your friend but lie and gaslight you to a point where it’s abuse.. it sucks to be manipulated and abused by people that say they love you my perception of love is so distorted because of this person slowly trying to condition me to accept things they are not even ok with . What is gaslighting ?

2025.01.21 02:11 Outrageous_Editor437 What’s the purpose of having a mid layer and windbreaker if there are coats that do both?
I know when there are changing temperatures especially when you are moving around. But when it is below freezing, negative temperatures aren’t just having a coat that insulates and wind breaks better?
Like what is the mechanical purpose of having separate layers at that level?

2025.01.21 02:11 Jolly_Chipmunk_5670 FYI if you’re shooting slightly late the majority of the time you’re timing it correctly it’s just a forced miss by the game
I’m shooting 55% from 3 so with that in mind I was in mycourt(connected to friend) timing my shots exactly the same the slightly lates are green sometimes then late the next, I switch over to my big test out the post hooks I have the timing down to where I know the cue it’ll let me hit 2 then makes me miss the 3rd its hilarious - if 2k just called it a forced miss for realism Instead of making it seem like you messed up folks would be less upset.
