I ended my relationship on January 3rd, and I’m still very confused about what the future will be like. Nowadays, it seems like women only want to party, etc. The relationship I ended would have turned 4 years old in 2025. She didn’t drink alcohol, didn’t smoke, and didn’t go to many parties, although she did attend some WITHOUT ME. I ended it because she relied on her parents for everything. In 3 years, we were never alone together in private except in public spaces. She wanted me to be like a son to her parents, and I didn’t want that. She was very spoiled, even too much. We were together only once a week for 3 years and never spent weekends together because she said weekends were for family.
What do you think of my decision? I still feel very confused, but I don’t feel sad, It’s more like I feel relieved. At the same time, I worry that the future will be very lonely, as she was kind of my company.

My local exhaust mechanic told me that both my catalytic converters are blown. They are Walker CARB legal cats, fitted 2 years ago… I was a very surprised to hear they only lasted 2 years..

I noticed a bump on the side of one of my bettas a few months ago near his tail, and figured it was probably some kind of lump or tumor. It didn't impact his swimming or eating or enthusiasm so I just let it be and kept an eye on him. Now I'm starting to think it was an abscess as it now appears to have burst and poor guy's got a hole on the side of his body. He rests more than he swims but he's still alert and eats like he always did but I'm wondering if there's anything I could/should be doing for him to help? Salt baths, tannins in the tank, daily water changes, medication, anything?

The cover art seems to be the painting by his mother that inspired ‘Prince’s Walk’ from the last album. From a track by track interview he gave to RNZ at the time: “This is the most "imagistic" song on My Boy, Marlon says, and it's inspired by a watercolour painting his mother did of a man in a tophat coming home with a fistful of money.
"He's a slippery jester of a man and he's very dainty, he's very proper and demure... He's a bit scary. He's got some Slenderman vibes going on.
"It's a song about wanting to know what it is to behave in the world… and trying to be a man of standing in some sense. It's about observation and trying to learn tricks of the trade."

My mom and sister are very critical people. The kind that have significant issues in personal relationships while always finding something to criticize about others.
My kids sons were 3 and 5 when I met my now husband. Bio dad has never had interest in being involved and I didn’t force it. Within 3 months of dating my now husband, and possibly after being provoked, my oldest son asked if he could call him Dad. We had both been divorced and intentionally took our relationship slow. At the time he had only been around the boys a handful of times. He told my son that he didn’t think it was the right time. While I understand that may seem harsh, our intention was to protect them if things didn’t work out for us. They had already by abandoned by one dad and I wasn’t going to put them in a position for that to happen again. My mom and sister made comments to me that they didn’t agree with our choice. At times I did question it but I believe it was in the best intifada the kids.
A couple of years later my sister met a man at work. He was supposed to be separated from his wife yet when he took my sister out for Valentine’s Day his wife called to ask when he was coming home because she made dinner. My sister continued to date him and his wife filed for divorce a month and a half later.
Since I’m used to being the target of criticism and that’s how my family works, I made it known that I absolutely did not agree with him lying to her about his marriage and her staying with him after learning that he was not separated from his wife. I also vividly recall my nephew calling him by his name and him asking, “what did you call me?” And my nephew saying, “I’m sorry, Dad.”
If my nephew was calling this man dad within the same time frame my husband was expected to tell my kids to call him dad, this man was still married to another woman.
Over the last 12 years my husband has been criticized for his parenting. For putting the kids in time out after repeating behavior they had been warned was not acceptable, for taking away toys they used in an unsafe way, limiting sodas, or insisting they eat something “nutritious” before dessert. IMO completely normal parenting stuff but they never saw him as my kids dad and therefore in their eyes, he should discipline the way his critics decide.
My oldest son and I had a big fight, unhealthy last year. My husband wasn’t even home when it happened. My son slammed a door into the wall until it broke off the hinges. His consequence was paying to replace the door. My parents and sister decided that we should buy a door and have him install it because they do everything DIY. We had recently had some work done on our house and we are not DIYers. So we hired the same business to replace the door and our son agreed to make payments to us to reimburse the cost. Since then my mom has decided that the door was already broken and more or less accused us of taking advantage of our son to save money on something we should have already replaced. She actually told my son that he should not have had to replace it.
My oldest son tried out for the basketball team last year and my husband picked him up from tryouts one day. Son was frustrated with his performance and told my husband he felt like he would always be mediocre. My husband told him he should just focus on basketball and dedicate his time to that alone, rather than his other current hobbies because “a jack of all trades is a master of none.” Unfortunately a few weeks later my son was cut from team. My son told my nephew, in front of my sisters husband about the advice my husband gave him. 3 times my sisters husband asked my son if my husband told him he was a mediocre basketball player. 3 times my son repeated that he called himself mediocre and my husband suggested he focus on basketball and reduce other distractions. I learned a few weeks later that my sister was telling people that the night my son walked out of the gym after being cut from the team that my husband called him a mediocre basketball player. She also told people that 11 years after telling my oldest 3 months into our relationship wasn’t the right time to call him dad “still affects them.” They have been told many times over the years that they can call him dad and he would like they and neither of them have ever told me that that bothers them or that they even remember that happening.
I have spoken out against my sister’s husband’s heavy drinking and behavior when he drinks over the years. On more than one occasion he has yelled and cussed at a whole group of people, making an ass of himself because he can’t handle his alcohol. The year they started dating, while he was going through his divorce, he had two DUIs and a public intoxication within 3 months. On one occasion where my kids were present and I was not, I heard that he ran out of beer and my sister told him he didn’t need more and in his drunken rage, while she cowered in a corner and cried, he told her she was worthless without him and his money and she would be nothing without him. Ironically, when he got his 2nd DUI he biggest concern was that he may lose his (barely) six figure job, and if he did she was “done.” Because the wife and DUIs didn’t seem to matter to her.
My sister is the worship leader in her church and her husband plays drums. They love to be on stage and are literally always bitching about people in one of the many organizations they volunteer for to keep them distracted from their own issues.
I know that these accusations are retaliation for me speaking out against her husband. The problem is that my oldest son decided that our 9 pm rule to put up phones was no longer something he would allow. We pay for the phone and didn’t make this rule until he started having trouble getting up for school and often claimed he was sick after being up all night.
I haven’t talked to my sister in a year. My son, hearing my family bad mouth my husband all these years and criticizing everything we do as parents ran away. My sister picked him up from my brothers house, she and my parents bought him a new phone and he has been there for a couple of months.
My son tells me they don’t talk bad about me but every time I tell him no, he throws something in my face that I’ve heard them criticize before. Things he never mentioned before and has obviously been reminded of and told how traumatized he must be. He’s 17z I know he wants to grow up and every 17 year old thinks their parents are idiots. Unfortunately, mine has family working to completely destroy our relationship. I’ve been told there has been talk of calling CPS and honestly, I wish someone would. I could use the reassurance that we are good parents, just doing our best.
My little family has been in therapy off and on for years. Many of our rules and consequences have been discussed with and approved by our (secular) therapist.
Last weekend my dad asked my your son (14) if he could go hunting with him, my nephew and my sisters husband (the verbally) abusive drunk. This was obviously a test IMO and I told him he could not go. Then they decided my sisters husband wasn’t going and honestly, I’m sick of the games and I said he wasn’t going at all.
So, with my family’s ridiculous criticism, buying my son a phone after he ran away over our phone rules and clearly badmouthing us to him, AITAH from blocking them from my other son’s phone? It’s hard for me to manage the manipulation and I’m so afraid they will try to turn him against me too. I think they will shower him with gifts and affection to keep him under their spell until he stops being exactly what they tell him to be, then they will criticize his every move just like they have me.
