I’m in a seat and team I don’t like. I’ve had to give up weekends at the drop of a hat for pointless tasks that don’t get looked at until the following week. There’s zero chance I want to qualify here.
I offer to help but other trainees are super keen so they tend to suck up all the work. Which means some days I have hours of no real work. I use the time to skill up. I guess you might consider it coasting - is this normal for people to do when they know they won’t qualify there?

Currently working at a startup, our BI stack is a Django server running queries directly against prod replicas and displaying reports.
It kind of works, but generating a new report or analyzing a new business question takes anywhere from a few days to a week. Executives reach out to data engineers with a broad question, then engineers frame questions analyze data, and get back with results. It takes even longer when executives want something changed. I want to make it more easy for business people to understand and query data.
I was considering proposing the use of a BI tool to get answers faster and make business people kind of self-serve some of their questions.
Our main application database is in MySQL. Most of the tables have around 50-100 GB of data, some in TBs. I expect a lot of joins for analytical queries. In the future, I expect to also connect CRM and other internal DBs. I don't expect to get a lot of budget.
The stack I was considering was Postgres + dbt + airbyte + airflow + metabase.
I am new to the data engineering space and would love to hear your suggestions and thoughts. Thanks!

Hi there! I'm a longtime listener, first time posting. English is my third language so I'm sorry in advance if my grammar or wording is difficult to understand.
I (27f) left my ex (27m) a few months ago. We have a 3 year old child together and we're in a relationship for about 5 years. Sometimes things were good, sometimes they were bad. I'm a very active and organised person, he is (for a lack if a better word) lazy and a bit of a slob. My family did not like him from the get-go but I ignored it. I didn't really mind his lifestyle up until our baby was born. It might have been silly of me to think that his behaviour would change after becoming a father but it did not. He was great for the first couple of weeks but then he started to get distant and I took on most of the childcare and housework. Even when I was working full time and a full time student, I was the main breadwinner but I also took care of our child and housework. Over time he got more comfortable and neglectful, he stopped showering every day, started to drink a lot and smoked weed. Sometimes I had to wake up early to clean up after a bender so my son wouldn't be affected.
This post would be a whole essay if I told you everything he did or didn't do while we were together. So I have a list of things that happened and are important to know: - He went on a spontaneous vacation with his friends while he was unemployed and I told him we couldn't afford it and I was working. He went anyway. - I had a serious accident and was told to be on bedrest. However, he did not take on more responsibility. I was walking on a broken leg to take care of our child and the house. I'm still dealing with the long term affect on my body. - My toddler found weed in a bottom drawer of his night stand and almost ate it, thankfully I was able to stop it. - I went to work for a few hours very early in the morning (5 am - 9 am) and when I got back our toddler was screaming and crying in his room. He had clearly been awake for a while but his dad was passed out, I hadn't noticed that he had been drinking the night before since I went to bed very early. - He was very into one of my best friends and was vocal about it. - He tried cheating on me with a mutual friend, emphasise on tried. - I found a stash of xanax in our car that he had clearly stolen from a person he worked for. - He regularly shussed me or talked over me around his friends.
The advice I need might be more of an encouragement. I'm currently trying to get full custody but he is fighting back. We also own a house together that he currently lives in and he has not given me answers on what he wants to do with it, I don't care if he wants to sell or buy me out. I just want this shit to be done.
I'm so fucking tired and stressed. I'm having doubts with my own capabilities as a mother and I'm also having a difficult time building up my confidence again.
If anyone has been in a similar situation I'd love to get some advice or kind words.

Figured I would share a project I've been working on for the last year or so. I cobbled this enclosure together out of 1/4" aluminum using a hammer drill, hacksaw, and bastard file. I designed it for use with a MiSTerFPGA rig, but it works with most retro consoles up to ps3. The button layout is obviously WASD inspired, and probably looks really wonky to most people, but it's actually very ergonomic and comfortable to use.

2025.01.21 08:40 Timely_Fig1829 I recently finished my first playthrough, here are my thoughts
The game is great, the plot feels cohesive, the characters have distinct and well defined personalities, and their interactions are gold most of the time (I particularly liked Kou's SL, and Nanako was my absolute favorite, I swear to god it's the second time in my life I felt a connection so deep to a video game character). Gameplay wise, it's very good, I really enjoyed the velvet room and fusions, the dungeons felt great (until I accidentally overleveled, but even then Hassou tobi is incredibly satisfying to click). Some aspects of the SL felt kinda grindy, but it was worth it for the most part. Onto some stuff I didn't appreciate as much: the bosses. At level 17, I got Sarasvati as a Persona, WHO NATURALLY HAS INVIGORATE 2. That means that as soon as you get a magician card in the arcane draw you can use a free media per turn! That, combined with yukiko enormous sp pool ensured I never once had to worry about bosses. Now, for something a little more personal, I feel like Rise's constant simping is a bit too much, almost to the point of being wierd, especially considering I already had a romance active (Marie). Lastly, I hated most of teddie. He feels superfluous in most scenes, and even when he has his good moments, for some reason the writers thought it would be a good Idea to have him make a fool of himself. I liked him in the very beginning, and at the very end, but everything in the middle is, for me, bad at best.

Hello Bulgarians, I have a question. I’m coming to Bulgaria with a few friends to ski in Vitosha, and we need a car to get to the lifts from Sofia.
I’ve seen there’s a bus but it says it only works during weekends, so we need other ways to reach the mountain.
We’ were thinking about renting a car, but we don’t have a credit card available (TBC we’re all 23yo). It’s possible to rent without it? Any other suggestions on how to reach the resort?
