2025.01.21 23:52 6a6179jay Continuous BSOD/crashes on Asus Rog Flow X16 Gaming Laptop...
Hi everyone,
I'm constantly getting Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD) crashes on my Asus Rog Flow X16 Gaming Laptop. I've tried many different things to try and resolve this, such as the following:
- Running various commands to check the disk health and for any RAM/Memory errors (both ok after many test runs)
- Updating Windows 11 and drivers
- Keeping my laptop plugged in for long periods of use + running it on battery as much as possible other times (there appears to be some reference to power in the Event Viewer)
I'm running Windows 11 but thinking of using Windows 10 instead via dual booting due to experiencing inconsistencies with the performance + others have mentioned BSOD with Windows 11 specifically on different computers.
One of the BSOD errors was "A critical process died". Other System logs that are continuously showing on BSOD crashes in the Event Viewer app (which I go through most times after a BSOD error):
- Level = Critical, Time = 00:16:54, Kernel-Power, Event ID = 41, Task Category (63)
- The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
- Level = Error, Time = 00:16:54, volmgr, Event ID = 161, Task Category = None
- Dump file creation failed due to error during dump creation.
- Level = Error, Time = 00:17:06, EventLog, Event ID = 6008, Task Category = None
- The previous system shutdown was unexpected.
- Level = Error, Time = 19:09:40, NDIS, Event ID = 10317, Task Category = PnP
- Miniport Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter #2, had event Fatal error: The miniport has failed a power transition to operational power
It would be great if anyone has a solution to this ongoing issue so let me know if you need more info.

This is kind of a duplicate post as I'm adamant to find out what is the best way to approach development.
I personally have seen tons of developers, especially in big cities, have law degrees for whatever reason. But you ask here, and everybody is like no no no!
I guess my question here is..
Developers - What was your path? What have you achieved, how'd you get there, and would you have taken an alternative path at all?
I would love for this post to not only help me but tons of other aspiring developers who lurk on this page (I know there are a lot)... Any input would be much appreciated!

Hi all- Go easy on me here. I just want some raw feedback.
My husband was born in the UK though was raised in the US. We have 2 kids, 12 and 8 yo and are living in the US but have been considering a huge move to the UK. The reputation of the US precedes us and unfortunately, much of the negativity you've likely heard is quite true. We (my husband and I) are looking to get away from a place that seems to be focused on hatred, divisiveness, and inequality because it is really not the environment we want our children to grow up in. We want a culture of empathy, community, acceptance, that prioritizes education, health, equality, etc.
I also have done some research into locations, the school systems, employment as well as looked at housing options.
My question is, are we crazy? Is this a "grass isnt greener" scenario? Should we move to the UK or stay put in the US?
The school systems are so different, I think that is my greatest fear, that the kids will struggle to adjust to that change, and potentially not make friends or be bullied.
We just really cant see ourselves subjected to 4 years of this contentious climate, the fear of darker days ahead, school shootings/gun violence, and all the negativity that we cant seem to get away from.
