 | Wanting to upgrade the cichlid tank from 36 bow front to a 55. I want to use the current substrate and plants when upgrading but what’s the easiest way to do this without causing too much stress in the fish. Plan on using majority of the water from the 36 gallon to fill the 55 so in perspective it’s almost like a water change. Anyone done this before and have tips? Hi Mods! I do see that some of you are on here on reddit! I have a suggestion which I do hope you will consider. A lot of my friends got banned for little things and honestly it's really sad not having them around. I personally think you guy should allow a ban removal on accounts because honestly some of the bans seem kinda unfair. Maybe if possible, allow a one time ban removal and ofc if people break the rules then the ban should be perm. Like make a day where you allow people to submit appeals and explain why they should be unbanned. I really do hope it's considered! Thank you guys <3

2025.01.22 00:52 ErickLandaMX Anyone else taking themselves out of the economy this following 4 years?
So I decided not to participate in the economy at all this next 4 years. I wasn't planning on it, but yesterday I saw an opportunity and decided to put things to the test on my preparedness. I own property with 5 small ADUs that I never told anyone, because people think it's big houses, but it's just space big enough for the necessities. Anyway, one unit has been inactive because I haven't found a renter. Yesterday however, a family member decided to return to Mexico and he had chickens, a rooster, a few bunnies, and two goats(couldn't take the goats). I already have vegetation going, so decided yesterday to pull the trigger on it. In a way, this is to share how I am prepared and see if anyone else is and to see things that you all got. I am a VERY simple man, so feeding myself won't be hard. However my plan is to eat what I grow, things I freeze dried through the past years, and if I feel like treating myself, I could always just order a Papa Johns pizza for like $12-15 each(Actually I survived on those for 2 months before. They're big money savers). Water I am covered because I have a rain catch system. Hoping snow falls in my area to collects that water. There's also a big lake near me which I can collect water from. I have a water pump, stainless barrel, and key knobs to steal water from a city building if needed. Electricity is my strong area since I heavily invested on it since the Texas blackout in 2021. Plus, my biggest form of entertainment is PC gaming, so I knew it was top priority. My truck is also electric. As for internet, I am on visible and it let's me use the hotspot unlimited. It's decent for gaming actually and just $450 ish a year. Beyond that, I doubt I'll need more. Food I'm fine plus I got $1200 worth of ramen stored as well. Which i can eat 1-2 a day on top of my homemade MREs and veggies. I do have way more stuff, but I am waiting for another unit to go vacant so I can stuff everything in it. Rent, water, and electricity are not something I have to worry, just insurance, property taxes, and subtle things. I do have money saved in case of emergency, but as long as the other 3 units are rented, I'm good. Is anyone joining in by just going MIA in this economy? Am I overlooking something? Any recommendations? Tips would be greatly appreciated even if it's something I already prepared for but didn't mention, because who knows? You might remind me that I forgot to give something maintenance or refill it. Plus, I am officially unemployed, so will need to tough it out on my own.

And not just on the days you lift, but in general?
Here’s the scoop—I’ve lost weight before. I lost about 100lbs between 2016-2018, had a ton of stress in grad school, gained most but not all of it back while maintaining my exercising habits, and now have pretty easily lost 40+ pounds now that I’m no longer in a toxic environment. I’m hoping to lose about another 20 pounds, though I’m not really in a rush. All of this to say, none of this is new to me.
I’ve always been a very active person, but only ever cardio. I have hyper mobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, and have never lifted weights due to fear of injury. However I teamed up recently with a physical therapist and a personal trainer and built myself a 3 day a week machine only weightlifting routine to help stabilize my condition.
I’ve been lifting weights for about a month and oh my goodness, I feel like my hunger is off the CHARTS! I’m eating at maintenance right now because frankly I care way more about the strength training to help with my condition than I do about losing the last 20 pounds but I need to know, how long did the hunger last you when you started weightlifting? I’d love to ease myself back into a deficit in the next few months but honestly I feel like a trash can right now and it feels like it’s never going to stop. Thanks in advance for your insight!

I understand their whole life is on social media and it’s their job, but I think it’s sad that they can’t even go one day without posting the birth on social media. As a new mom she should be focusing on her baby and not posing for pictures to post on social media. I really hope they wait to post the Vlog because you know there’s going to be a video about it. I feel like this baby is going to be posted on social media (without the blur) pretty soon. I don’t think I’ve known anyone to post that fast after giving birth.

I’m enrolled in paramed starting this year. First semester and first year of the degree. Can anyone shed any light on how important the first week is in terms of mandatory and compulsory events/classes?
I have some personal circumstances with a family member having a serious surgery and recovery period so I can’t actually be in Melbourne and on campus that week.
Would Monash be understanding towards this situation if I can provide documentation? And is it a critically vital week where I shouldn’t be missing anything?

This question has a broader context behind it than just LCMS. However, I am likely going to switch churches at some point in time. When I do leave my current church, which is non-denominational, my intention is to remain at a denominational church going forward (whether Presbyterian, Lutheran, etc). With that, I had a couple questions.
The heart of this post is essentially to get a feel for how well the LCMS and other Lutheran synods maintain oversight of local churches and congregations and pastors. Non-denominational churches can have a risk of pastors abusing their position in a variety of ways and/or straying doctrinally. Even hiring practices of new pastors can be sketchy in a non-denominational church (and there is really no greater authority to put a foot down and stop things if need be). I am wondering if there is a real and practical benefit of being within a denomination in terms of having more doctrinal and moral oversight over local congregations and pastors.
In the LCMS (or even other Lutheran synods like ELC, WELS, etc) does the synod do a good job at keeping pastors and local churches accountable both doctrinally and morally? For example, does the synod actively and regularly take action if an LCMS pastor (or WELS, ELC, etc for that matter) starts to teach significantly erroneous things and stray from Lutheran orthodoxy (lets say erroneous teachings on the sacraments, or any number of other doctrines)? What about moral accountability? Does the LCMS actively and regularly hold the leadership of local churches morally accountable (whether its adultery, abuse, or any number of moral accountability)? What actions would be taken against a pastor who gets caught committing adultery, or gets caught in a money laundering scandal?

2025.01.22 00:52 OMGAdamWTF Picking a budget GPU for an OBS power user
I'm a full time streamer on Twitch and I do a lot of heavy OBS production, involving many nested scenes, hundreds of sources, and a bunch of plugins. For example, I have ten different StreamerBot shortcuts on my desktop for different shows. I have no less than 25 scene collections in my OBS right now, and multiple installs of multiple versions, depending on which plugins I need access to. I use a dual-PC setup, so my stream PC is doing all the scene composition work and I can capture my main PC. I am currently working on Blender development and moving toward production in Unreal Engine for stream purposes, so the GPU is going to be more utilized moving forward. Oh, I stream at 6k bitrate.
My Stream PC is currently:
AMD 2600x on x470 platform
16gb DDR3000 (It was on hand and I intend on swapping to 3200)
1TB NVME SSD
750w EVGA PSU
RX580 8gb
This RX580 is a loaner card because my GTX1070 died. However, my community has raised some funds for me over this and we're looking at replacement GPUs. Yes, the 2600x is aging, but it's still doing alright and we'll swap it later if it becomes the bottleneck.
On the list of options, we're eyeing:
RTX 4060 8gb: Has AV1 for the future, has NVENC for now. Has 8gb of VRAM, which isn't a lot for gaming but might be enough for Unreal Engine streaming.
ARC B580 12gb: Has AV1 for the future and just nice encoders overall. 12GB of VRAM might be better for UE in the future. I'm VERY interested in the AI performance of this card and would like to know more about whether or not it's AI features can be utilized via something like StreamerBot over an API. I don't know enough about whether this is possible, but it's very exciting as an idea. I know that in gaming, there are overhead issues for my 2600x and the b580, but does that even matter at ALL for this? I'm not gaming on this system.
AMD 7600xt 16gb: Has AV1 for the future, I'm under the impression AMD's current encoders for Twitch are just fine. 16gb of VRAM is pretty sick for OBS purposes and I've gathered that this card seems to be, for gaming at least, the best "bang for the buck" option for my aged 2600x.
I guess it's worth pointing out a reminder that the 2600x runs PCI-E 3.0, not 4, in case that hampers things even more. I'm just curious which of these GPUs is going to actually perform best with OBS and deliver the best experience from chat's end. If you're just guessing, I can do that all day myself. I'm really curious to hear input from anybody who is more aware of OBS and performance on a technical level. I want low frame render times, AV1 capability, and a nice featureset wouldn't hurt. I really wish that B580 didn't have overhead issues with older processors but I just don't know if that's going to matter here at all.
What GPU *should* I be aiming for?
